      Yep, he's legendary. Have you ever seen the tour of his studio? There's a part where he walks over to like 30 guitars piled against a wall haphazardly and pulls out a strat and says, this is a pre-CBS fender. Dude has a pre-CBS fender sitting in a pile of guitars!

    • @FretsOnFire
      @FretsOnFire 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@kitoyobeni1 I didn't feel like that about those albums, I saw them as totally different. Listen to songs like "Motherless Child", "Devil in Disguise", "Faultline", Judas", "See You In Hell" from Eclipse, or "Enemy", "My Resurrection" from FTA - they always said he couldn't write a hook - "Another Time" & "Only The Strong" sound like pretty strong hooks to me. But now, I'd say he's lost a lot of his inspiration...I think really when he started trying to do everything himself, including vocals....ugghhh! It might be ok for an occasional bluesy song on an album, but him singing everything really degraded his material overall. I also agree about never working with a producer, there were times he did ok doing that himself, other times pretty bad. There are flashes here & there on his last couple albums, but overall finally really is starting sound a little stale to me - but IMO, he was accused of being stale when he was still on fire, just because he repeated some licks (like almost all top guitarists) but in reality, he was using those licks in inspired variations. I think often people would seize on any perceived flaw, because he was so hated. Now, I'd sadly have to agree that he's not putting as much thought & effort into composition, performance or production. I guess he's just having fun with it now, but I wish he was inspired again. In the meantime, I go where the inspiration is, whether it's other prog/neoclassical artists; Yngwie's stuff up till about I guess 2012 maybe, or a few gems off the otherwise subpar newest stuff; classical music; all kinds of jazz & fusion; ethnic music from around the world. Even great pop singers - I found a ton of great singers in Russia over the past few years, which lead me to Dimash Kudaibergen, incredible! Also amazing stuff like Snarky Puppy, Bela Fleck. I was listening to all the classic fusion before I ever heard Yngwie, but at that time he had a fire that made me want to hear him, often rather than even the fusion & jazz at the time. Now there are young amazing shredders everywhere, etc. But Yngwie reigned for a long time, the imitators then lacked his vibrato, bends, soul, etc. It's all changed now, many young shredders have figured out how to sound more like that and they surpass Yng in a lot of ways. If he did get really inspired again, he always has within him what it takes to blow minds. But the older you get, and set in your ways, the less likely it is....that's ok, it's time for the next generation!

      @FretsOnFire 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@kitoyobeni1 Actually, re-reading your comment, I see that you said the albums BETWEEN Eclipse and F&I...I should've paid closer attention...I suppose I could agree that things maybe got a little more similar. But I was inspired by all of it in that period anyway, I guess I found the fire, energy and enough variation compositionally to hold my interest...I still love it all! I agree though, I wish he'd do a serious project that's someone else's composition, just for a change! :)

    A lot of guitarists play with their teeth and behind their head and back because Jimi Hendrix used to do it in the late 60's. But he did it because T-Bone Walker used to do the same thing in the 40's. Walker said that he and a bunch of his friends used to busk on city street corners, and whoever came up with the most outrageous tricks would draw the biggest crowds, and make the most money. If you Google him and click on "images" and scroll down you'll see him doing the splits while playing behind his head. Yngwie (Ing-Vay) liked Bach and Hendrix, and started a whole guitar trend called Neoclassical Metal.
