A 5 minute Bible study through Genesis 16. In Genesis 16, Sarai decided to give her Egyptian servant, Hagar, to Abraham to bear him children. After Hagar conceived, Sarai treated her harshly, which resulted in her running away from Abram’s house. An angel of the Lord appeared to Hagar by a spring of water and told her to return to Sarah. God promised her she would have a son and she was to name him Ishmael.

Three promises that God made to Abram
1.God going to give his descendants the land of Canaan as an inheritance.
2. GOD is going to make him a nation
3. God is going to bless all the people on the earth through Abraham and his family line

You did NOT go into detail on 16:12 which is the "wild donkey" verse. This is the translation directly from the Torah, "He will be a wild donkey of a man; his hand will be upon all, and everyone's hand upon him, and before all his brothers he will dwell." I consider this the prophesy of the future "nation" of Islam. At 2 billion people worldwide, that "nation" is truly great in number. Muhammed claimed (and falsely I might add) that he was a descendant of Ishmael. This claim allowed him to link Islam to Abraham and to the god of Abraham in order to legitimize his own monotheistic religion.

I miss those longer note, I wish you could make those longer commentary especially now you are starting from Genesis. You are my first Bible study teacher and I am very proud of you but I left when you started these short video and short commentary.
Olay, I really appreciate these short videos. I’m reading a chapter a day in Genesis for my quiet times. I love being able to have my reading reinforced with these 5 minute videos. Yes, there is a time for longer videos for intensive Bible studies. But there is also a place for these short and concise videos.

The short video are also good I am happy to hear it imparting you but I prefer the long commentary. Thank you
@@olayiwolaomotope4860The long form commentary is certainly going to be better for going over greater detail, but there are advantages to short form content such as this.
Firstly, its "bite-sized" nature can make it more appealing and easily accessible for those who would otherwise feel intimidated by very long videos, so that it can draw people in and create interest.
Secondly, it may help people who want to do a quick review on a tight schedule - perhaps someone who has a busier-than-usual day but doesn't want to give up their "one chapter per day routine," or a worker on his lunch break who might have been thinking of the Bible and had a question.
I found this video because I'm reading theough Genesis now (I have too long put off actually reading God's Word, and the Holy Spirit has reminded me lately of the importance of reading the Bible) and had a quick question about this chapter, but I didn't want to spend 45 minutes to get an answer to that question. I understand that I should go to the longer format videos for more information later on, but for now, this shorter video will suffice, because it's late at night as I type this.

I don’t believe the Quran to be true as the bible is, but it’s an interesting point of research to compare the water spring to the source of zamzam water in western Saudi Arabia. Muslim’s have a similar story regarding Hagar.
