It is the normal damage of the Super Bone Attack from the Skeleton transformation. In form of a compensation, one hit from any enemy and you're done in this form. The Super Bone Attack can be used with a Hadouken command. Otherwise, it will just throw normal bones.
That skeleton ability has a very very slim chance of throwing a gigantic bone that does insane damage, the player pretty much savestated/reloaded to the point where it happened on every single throw.
Now that was some impressive platforming. The machine tower would always give me issues but you breezed through that. Plus using the card glitch for extra speed and skele were risky and paid off. I know its slowed down tsa but its still impressive.
dude!! this is simply awesome and im totally impressed and schocked with the ease youve passed the game it certanly took you a lot of time to complete it corectly but it sure was worth of it, subcribe to you right away !
Omg you go through the underwater section of the castle without cleansing the water first o_o'' Damn... Very nice TAS in general too ;) Mad jumping skills...
Holy shit, thats awesome! I played weeks to finish this game while i was young.. 18 years later i see you finish this game in 22 minutes! Awesome! That bone stuf.. How in the world did you do that?
Tool-assisted speedrun, thats what TAS stands for. He got the large bones every time quite simply: by making a save state as he transformed and reloading that state every time he threw a bone until he got the large one.
Ahah! Crossing the Waterway without purifying the water! I did the same thing the first time, because I didn't know there was another level to explore first. I just thought it was a very hard level (And I crossed it!). Hours spent to get all the cards and to complete the arena level... Brings back memories!
This is what save-states are used for, you save the games state just before you throw the bone, if you get a normal one, you reload the state until you get the golden one. Then you save state after that and just repeat till every bone is golden.
This game inspired me to write novels. I'm still figuring out how to make a story with this sort of place, gothic horror buildings with supernatural elements. One of the best games on Nintendo Gameboy Advance.
That looked so cool. But it seemed like the hardest part of the speed run wasn't defeating Dracula or any of the bosses-- but just being able to run through all the enemies without losing all your hit points!!
It's tool assisted, and people always go "oh well the game is slowed down, so its WAY easier" but doing a TAS requires lots of planning, and despite the slowed down gameplay, LOTS and lots of precision - so I give this guy MAD props, this was a very entertaining speedrun.
its a glitch, if you pause while activating magic and then change what cards are activated (even if you don't have them), you get the effect of the two cards selected
Remember, we all view that one video that teaches us what TAS is. So don't give the noobs too much trouble, most of us had that moment, "This isn't possible, this is a cheat and a computer doing this!" And then we learn what TAS is, and then get stuck into an addiction of watching how perfectly our favorite games can be beaten....losing jobs as we watch hours of gameplay and our wives leave us as we grow addicted to TAS gameplay. Everyone goes through it.
Morris: You have done well to save me, Nathan. And so quickly too! You know you had the whole night, right? Why did you go so fast? Nathan: Well, I had to pee...really badly. Why the HELL are there no bathrooms in this ENTIRE CASTLE?!!?!?!!
To answer your question, he shouldn' t even be able to use the skeleton transformation until DEEP into the game in the first place. Skeleton mode makes you vulnerable to one-hit death and normally only throws a small bone for very little damage, but has a 0.1% chance of throwing the Big Bone which does max physical damage. This is what you can do with a TAS. He's taking advantage of a glitch (switching to locked cards mid-activation), and using luck manipulation to always throw the Big Bone.
It was a launch title for the handheld. It's a great (though slightly archaic) adventure, and worthy of a purchase. If you can't find it in stores, you can always try amazon, or any other online retail.
@TheFlabbyEschebone Yes it can be. The skeleton form will throw regular bones and there is a random chance it'll use a big bone. There is also a ring that causes you to change into a bear instead of a skeleton.
Before I saw this video, I wondered if the Underground Waterway without Cleansing was possible. I suspected it was, but I'm glad to see it confirmed. Amusing to see all the bosses get bwn'd like that.
Oh, come on. We all know the comment box isn't to discuss the video, but to brag about how much better we are to make ourselves feel accomplished. That said, very nice video. It would be interesting to se a non-DSS-glitch TAS of this, or one on fighter mode.
Two things to explain to people below. A) He didn't /not/ cheat to get the bone, He just used save states to ensure that every bone he threw was the 1/100 big crit bone. and B) He didn't get hit for lolz, He did it to save time, Since its faster to just take the hit when running by. Then when he got to almost 0 he had to dodge, Or heal, Which loses time.. Making him get hit more to save more time. Vicious cycle.
@TheFlabbyEschebone in TAS the luck manipulation is used a lot, and even if it was a glitch it is allowed if there is no use of cheating hardware like Action Replay
This is in my opinion, the best Castlevania game EVER! It has the best music, the best gameplay (the DSS system is awesome!) and it has the best atmosphere than in any other Castlevania game.
I Love this Game So Much! I don't think I could actually sit down and play it again though.. I am hooked on other games now.. But Castlevania Circle Of The Moon is a great game.. Thanks for the video.. I started smelling old smells..
In terms of best GBA CV, I haven't played Classic, but I'd agree that HoD is last, but with CotM in first with AoS in a close second. I haven't finished AoS yet, but I don't imagine that that'll be a huge factor; CotM was my first of the three, after all. Growing up without stores made me learn independance, however.
@TheFlabbyEschebone When using Pluto/Black Dog DSS, usually only small bones come out, but there's a tiny chance a large bone will come out. in TAS, they obviously manipulate luck so only large bones come out. Also, you die in ONE HIT when in Skeleton form.
totaly awesome! ich bin ja seit kleines kind an viel am zocken und bin daher ja gar nicht mal so schlecht aber du sprengst ja alles :D Ein dickes LIKE!!
Actually, I think this was beaten in 21:07. A game is usually considered beaten when the last blow is landed on the boss, not when the ending scenes are over.
No, I meant that that's a way to restore HP in the Battle Arena, if you really need to. I beat it a few times without doing that, but not without HUGE amounts of items, as well as being at least level 70something.
+Nico93106 Slows the game down to about 1 fps, and has a load/save state for each frame. So if he fucks up, he can just rewind x frames till he does it right.
love this game. Brings back memories. I remember when me and my brother trying to finish this game for about half a year don't know that there's a cheat for this. lol
7 level ups on Carmilla. I was involuntarily sequence breaking (that level is utter hell when accessed early) when I fought her the first time and had the same thing happen.
dude your waaaay beter than me at this game i get lost all the fuckin time... one of the best and hardest castlevania iv played in a long time it reminds me allmost 100% of symphony of the night
Yep yep yep... I learned long ago never to let anyone "borrow" anything of value to you... one of my best learned lessons. Sorry to hear about it man. You could always try an emulator though!
this game proved that the gba was able to generate such harmoniouse clear stereo music and sound effect,s,unlike most gba games, wich is only mono, noisy and even just bleeky or a combination between. but most developers just don,t allway,s take cair about it.
@TheFlabbyEschebone Not really. The cards required to produce it are among the game's most difficult to get (one of them only drops in the later rooms of the arena), the giant bone's appearance is a rarity, and you die in one hit while in skeleton form. :T
Yes this is possible by normal means you just have to pray to all the gods and get stupidly lucky with your big bone. Everything else is within the skill level of normal speed runners.
I'm pretty sure by "no warps" he ment that he didn't use a certain game-breaking glitch that could get you to the final fight in just a matter of minutes.
Not only save-state, but randomly mashing diferent buttons every time, to manipulate luck. With only a save-state, he would get the exact same result every time. Buttonmashing manipulates luck, making randomizations happen diferently. Something that seems to work for me, for example, is to make a full circle on the D-pad when playing RPG's. Ofc with a save-state, but I could avoid any random encounters.
Counting Special Items and DSS, CotM has about as many "souls" as AoS, but yeah, the weapons were fun as they possibly could be, I agree. The shop was more or less useless except for gear, though Ascalon certainly made it worth it. I've found myself playing NG+ on Hard with the pistol, though; loadsa fun. Tell me, are there any better guns?
I don't know why people call TAS cheating, I never looked at it like an official speedrun, its fun to watch as people utterly destroy a game and make it look entertaining to boot.
you're right.. i was really scared because of the music yet i enjoyed playing this game when i was still a child.. but now i am searching for this game from all stores(gameboy advance games).. i am like carzy over this game..
i have this for the GBA, it cannot save...so i got the emulator as a backup and it also cannot save(in game neither save states) wtf!? something out there doesnt want me 2 finish this game. :@
2:55 Not only did the boss get "boned" but the the damage is OVER 9000!! lol ... ...I apologize. I couldn't resist. I can't be the only one who noticed that!
Every enemy in this game: HEY LETS F--- "NATHAN AINT GOT TIME FOR YOUR CRAP!"
Every boss in this game:HEY ITS MY ROO-- *giant-boned*
At the start you can see the re - record count, it's almost 20K times. Lots of effort, nice job :D
Watching this TAS made me feel the nostalgia I needed. Now I don't want to play it again, lol. I should go back to the first games.
Wall jumps in circle of the moon were so awesome. Roc feather makes you feel like a champ too.
It is the normal damage of the Super Bone Attack from the Skeleton transformation.
In form of a compensation, one hit from any enemy and you're done in this form.
The Super Bone Attack can be used with a Hadouken command. Otherwise, it will just throw normal bones.
Best music ever ! This castlevania is definitely my best !
+Clara G. yeeeh !! I'm playing this game ... with 5 years !!!
If you keep this Castlevania for the best you have either no clue or never played the really good ones... sorry just facts.
@@Nebujin383 I've played every castlevania since the NES Version, and this is my all-time favorite, even over symphony of the night.
A true speed demon!!!
You kick ass rogueyoshi!!!
And also thanks for the awesome tour around Dracula's castle :)
i love how it takes forever to level up after you one shot the bosses great video i love TAS runs
Circle of the Moon is definitely underrated.
I my gosh this brings back so much memories. I couldn't even read back when I played this lol
Is there a certian combination of buttons you have to press for that big ass bone? I've tried and it's usually small. Is it just luck?
After watching this video, I remember how much of a masterpiece this game is.
I can read the description, thanks. The time and knowledge required to actually be able to do something of this caliber is remarkable.
dude!! this is simply awesome and im totally impressed and schocked with the ease youve passed the game it certanly took you a lot of time to complete it corectly but it sure was worth of it, subcribe to you right away !
Omg you go through the underwater section of the castle without cleansing the water first o_o'' Damn...
Very nice TAS in general too ;) Mad jumping skills...
Damn, this took some dedication my man. Nice work.
Holy shit, thats awesome! I played weeks to finish this game while i was young.. 18 years later i see you finish this game in 22 minutes! Awesome! That bone stuf.. How in the world did you do that?
i freakin LOVE the music for this game!! awesome to play along with!
Tool-assisted speedrun, thats what TAS stands for.
He got the large bones every time quite simply: by making a save state as he transformed and reloading that state every time he threw a bone until he got the large one.
using tools and the glitches takes some of the fun out of watching the vid, but still beaten in 24 minutes that's unbelievable. way to go dude.
Ahah! Crossing the Waterway without purifying the water! I did the same thing the first time, because I didn't know there was another level to explore first. I just thought it was a very hard level (And I crossed it!). Hours spent to get all the cards and to complete the arena level... Brings back memories!
The music in this game is fantastic.
He played so quickly I don't even think I blinked.
This is what save-states are used for, you save the games state just before you throw the bone, if you get a normal one, you reload the state until you get the golden one. Then you save state after that and just repeat till every bone is golden.

Wow! I forgot I ever had this game. Brings back memories.
Damn.. its amazing how fast you scale up to the castle without falling.
It's a traditional Castlevania ending, where Dracula's castle crumbles while the hero looks on. It's been that way since Castlevania 1 for the NES.
its a glitch, if you pause while activating magic and then change what cards are activated (even if you don't have them), you get the effect of the two cards selected

Wow! This is a great video, I've never seen someone beat it that fast.
Damn, I'm loving it.
1.you straight up hot coffied through that game 2 how can someone dislike this
how is this game underrated?
It was universally well recieved and got tons of great reviews on release.
universal acclaim.
I remember playing this as a kid for hours and hours and I never got through the 3rd boss, and u got it all in 22 min lol.
Touché.
Dracula:
Impeccable timing.
Nathan:
Yes indeed!
i'm not big fan of speed runs or what ever it's called, but i ordered the game because of your walkthrough.so thx ;)
thumbs up

This game and Zelda: the Minish Cap are my two favorite GBA games... Summon Night is a close second but kind of got old after a bit.
Yeah, and the one thing that pissed me off was that it was randomly decided when enemies dropped those kick-ass cards.
Observation tower must've been rough with only the one warp to refill the health battery you're using to book around the areas >_>
Watching this because this game was awesome back in the day and currently watching Castlevania on Netflix in 2020
That is what I call ''skill'' =D....Well made dude nice work!!!
Nathan sure didn't waste any time in saving Hugh and his master.
Amusing to see all the bosses get bwn'd like that.
that was great, brings back memories of third, fourth, and fifth grade when I had a gba, and dominated circle of the moon.
This guy has some serious skills.... It takes me a couple days to beat this... even though im not trying to get through it fast.
Oh, come on. We all know the comment box isn't to discuss the video, but to brag about how much better we are to make ourselves feel accomplished.

It has the best music, the best gameplay (the DSS system is awesome!) and it has the best atmosphere than in any other Castlevania game.
For TAS, it ends when you do the final input ( A, B, R , L, etc)
I Love this Game So Much! I don't think I could actually sit down and play it again though.. I am hooked on other games now.. But Castlevania Circle Of The Moon is a great game.. Thanks for the video.. I started smelling old smells..
I am stannigly impressed! Perfect. Man - u rock))) Me - subscribed!
In terms of best GBA CV, I haven't played Classic, but I'd agree that HoD is last, but with CotM in first with AoS in a close second. I haven't finished AoS yet, but I don't imagine that that'll be a huge factor; CotM was my first of the three, after all. Growing up without stores made me learn independance, however.
you blew my mind! my mind has been blown!
@TheFlabbyEschebone When using Pluto/Black Dog DSS, usually only small bones come out, but there's a tiny chance a large bone will come out. in TAS, they obviously manipulate luck so only large bones come out. Also, you die in ONE HIT when in Skeleton form.
totaly awesome! ich bin ja seit kleines kind an viel am zocken und bin daher ja gar nicht mal so schlecht aber du sprengst ja alles :D Ein dickes LIKE!!
depends on the type of speedrun. you get normal playthrough(no glitches or anything) and glitched ones.
Gives living life on an edge a new meaning. I Shat bricks when he went through the underground waterway without cleansing.
Breathtaking. Simply awesome. Thankyou
Actually, I think this was beaten in 21:07. A game is usually considered beaten when the last blow is landed on the boss, not when the ending scenes are over.

Impressive. The perfect timing on each jump is beyond human... It would be nice to know what the tool does exactly ?
from what I know he can keep rewinding every fps back and forth so if he messes up he can just rewind also the tool makes you go at 1 fps so yeah.
+Nico93106 Slows the game down to about 1 fps, and has a load/save state for each frame. So if he fucks up, he can just rewind x frames till he does it right.
In the DSS menu its the last card for both rows. The downside to the skeleton is if you get hit you take 9999 damage.
love this game. Brings back memories. I remember when me and my brother trying to finish this game for about half a year don't know that there's a cheat for this. lol
No, he used the DSS bug. Activate a DSS Card Combo, go into menu, switch the cards to whatever you want to use.
7 level ups on Carmilla. I was involuntarily sequence breaking (that level is utter hell when accessed early) when I fought her the first time and had the same thing happen.
dude your waaaay beter than me at this game

"You make Speedy Gonzales look like 'Regular Gonzales'." Good job!
Best handheld Castlevania imo... sooo many memories
I never really got these speed runs, when does the timer start and in?
The video says its 24 mins when the speed runs 22, someone explain this to me.
this game proved that the gba was able to generate such harmoniouse clear stereo music and sound effect,s,unlike most gba games, wich is only mono, noisy and even just bleeky or a combination between.
but most developers just don,t allway,s take cair about it.
So the playthrough, while using the TAS, must have easily been like 4 hours, considering how slow the speed is, right? Damn.
@TheFlabbyEschebone Not really. The cards required to produce it are among the game's most difficult to get (one of them only drops in the later rooms of the arena), the giant bone's appearance is a rarity, and you die in one hit while in skeleton form. :T
OMG!!!! This guy knows the whole Castle .Even more than Dracula i guess
HAHAHA WTF!!! This is so amazing!!! Min 2:58 jajaja
its a glitch. while activating a dss combo you can switch the cards and it will activate the two highlighted
Hugh: It was the power of that whip!
Nathan: Nah, bones and glitches, bitches.
What he's doing is technically possible without the use of an external device.
Yes this is possible by normal means you just have to pray to all the gods and get stupidly lucky with your big bone. Everything else is within the skill level of normal speed runners.

You could save additional time if you used a 99lv code or no-lv-up code. Other than that it's a perfect walkthrough.
you're right.. i was really scared because of the music yet i enjoyed playing this game when i was still a child.. but now i am searching for this game from all stores(gameboy advance games).. i am like carzy over this game..
took me many painstacking hours of fighting and searching to beat the game and this vid does it in 24 minutes.............
i have this for the GBA, it cannot save...so i got the emulator as a backup and it also cannot save(in game neither save states) wtf!? something out there doesnt want me 2 finish this game. :@
haha. Gotta love that Abyss Stairway man...
All we know how to transform into the skeleton. But here is the question : how he throw bones EVERY time ? Bones are always being thrown randomly
How did he managed to get through the machine tower - -I think that was one of the most difficult part of the game
2:55 Not only did the boss get "boned" but the the damage is OVER 9000!! lol
...
...I apologize. I couldn't resist. I can't be the only one who noticed that!
