I saw her at a concert. She asked me if I was injured in combat. I told her I was injured riding to raising funds for breast cancer. She gave me a hug with my head right between hers. She was awesome and spent ten minutes with us. Open air concerts rock!
I've spent 8 videos trying to figure out why I'm drawn to your reactions in particular. I think it's your enthusiasm for singing and music. It's all so different yet you always have the biggest smile on your face and you're always really excited about listening to it all. That's what sets you apart, you have a real love for what you do. Please, don't even stop being you and who you are.
Lzzy is one of the best in her genre. She slays it for hard rock but listen to some of the ballads and there is an undeniable tenderness to her performance. just a great well rounded rock singer.
Yes, Cristina Scabbia of *Lacuna Coil* is hands down, the best female (metal) vocalist. The live version of "Our Truth" is definitely the one to check out. Actually, any of her performances will do.🤓👍

Love seeing her live!
That distortion at the end where she was super open, the distortion closure came from the tongue in the back of the throat. It took me like 2 solid years to figure out hahaha! Great video! You're definitely my favorite vocal coach to watch! I appreciate that you wait for natural moments to pause a song and you don't ever yeah an artist for their stylistic choices. Can't wait for more!
I think this is the 3'rd time I've watched your reaction/review of this video over the last 1-1 1/2 years because I love your analysis and enthusiasm for the song. I love Halestorm because of their great songwriting and musicianship and the incredible "rock goddess" vocals of Lzzy Hale, which is perfectly illustrated in this performance. She can go from a totally clean singing voice with beautiful tone and control to a dirty rock tone with vocal fry and then to a straight rock scream and she can seamlessly transition back and forth from one style to another.
Beth, I know it's been 3 years.. But, you need to see "I am the Fire". Great song! FYI - I watched another singer reaction on this video. She said it was more from the chest. Also, lower voice allows more air out than a tight vocal cord high voice.

Love Lzzy! She can exude a tremendous amount of energy when belting out; but it's where she really shines in her vocals. The awesome drummer in that video is her brother Arejay.
If you liked that, you'll for sure be amazed when you hear "Takes My Life" live (on 12-29-10) at Crocodile Rock. She hit a C6 note with vibrato on that day or check out a more recent performance of the same song live at Belfast 10 months ago.

Having 13 years vocal training, I'm a Mezzo Soprano, that is one of the things our Coach taught us to do, along with the mouth shapes to create the same vowel sounds she uses. I am 60 and my husband is 70 so we grew up on Janis Joplin. Both my husband, who isn't a Metal fan, and I agree that if ANYONE can do JANIS JOPLIN it would be LZZY HALE!!!!!

I think anything off the Triumph and Agony album would be great, but the clear front runner would be All we are for me. I must've seen her live a good two dozen times, she lives (partly) in the next town from where I've lived most of my life

For powerful female vocals you can do alot worse than Unleash the Archers. Everyone and their grandmother has already reacted to the song Awakening, but The Matriarch and especially Apex would suit you well I think.
This song was written after Lzzy received an email from a young female fan who was telling her about a problem she was having with another girl. And it's based on the advice Lzzy gave her. They actually won a Grammy for this song.

Lizzy Hale is probably one of the best female rock vocalists of the last decade. She can do it live just as well. I would recommend checking out Maria Brink from In This Moment. Her vocal style has really changed over the years. Listen to “Beautiful Tragedy” off their first album and compare it to something like Whore off of the album Blood. To hear her style from the first album to the latest it is like a completely different person.
To really get an idea of what exactly Lzzy hale is capable of you have to listen to her cover's of oh darling and when a man loves a woman and contrast that with her cover the Whitney Huston version of I will always love you, in short Lzzy hale is an absolute powerhouse with more range then many far more famous singers she is an absolute gem.
There was a meme a while back that said, "In a world filled with Kardashians, be Joan Jett." Lzzy Hale took it to heart.
She even has the JJ look now.
