You do realize that's not possible given that the original team that produced Xenogears is now working for Nintendo. Not to mention Square at the time did not see the game to be profitable that eventually led them to leave and form Monolith Studios.
I'm a huge fan of Star Ocean so I'm stocked for this but come on Squareenix, we have Star Ocean 1,3,4 and 5 on PS4 where's my favorite Star Ocean 2? I wanna see Claude and Rena again the game is already available in Japan so I really don't understand why we never got it.

Instead of exploring the ocean of stars with a Star Trek Prime Directive concept, we get The Matrix/ The Thirteenth Floor. Way to put the story into a corner. Edit: It got way too meta, which hindered future games and stories for the franchise. Til The End of Time came out in 2003. The Star Ocean franchise has been limping ever since, with no story set after Til The End of Time.
I remaster would be nice one that actualy runs well cause the vita or psp port have glitched that soft lock the game, wich can be avoided but still a proper port or a remaster be nice, just no remake legend of dragoon is a gem. I still own the startegy guide
I remember getting through the story and being so excited to move to the last disc. Then boom found out disc doesn't work...and it's years after its release. So, no luck ever finishing the story. And I will avoid playthroughs/walkthroughs for the rest of my life till that remake is made.

Played this on PSP and adored it, had the PS1 and PSP version of the second game and adored that too. Will most liley buy this on both PS4 and Switch. I love me some old school Star Ocean.

It's just a take on the increasingly popular "simulation hypothesis"; the twist isn't as bad as people say it is. Luther has a very similar design to SO2's Cyril/Lucifer - they share names and design in the postgame fight in SO3, and Indalecio/Gabriel from SO2 is "buggy software"(quote from his underling Lucifer) that wants to destroy the Universe. Character design and story execution were certainly better in SO2, but I don't think the major "destroy the galaxy/universe" plot goals were much different.
Bit disappointed that they didn't create new character models to match with their new portrait images too. I'm excited obviously, but that's a bit of wasted opportunity :(

Young me already put over 500hrs into this game on psp. Have to do multiple play throughs to experience all the secret characters and skills, I'm not looking forward to that again lol.
the only star ocean i like is 4. At the time of release it gave me a feeling of adventure that i want from jrpgs. The characters were interesting and the combat was fun too!
Only Square Enix would make an enchanced port of an awesome game with fantastic new art for the characters, And NOT remake the animated cutscenes with the new art. Come on Square.

Who cares? Nothing that happens in any game is real. It doesn’t change who the characters are or what happens in a story. They’re all video games to begin with.

They can't the original team's not there anymore. Only possible if SquareEnix, Monolith Soft, and Nintendo strike a deal.
