  • I can hear you, you have never heard of Kilwa and don't believe me that it is in Tanzania.
If you have a couple extra days and don't mind a 4-hour drive south of Dar, then you can tick this off your UNESCO bingo card.
This was the center of trade for East Africa for almost 1000 years and has changed hands a number of times. They have found Chinese porcelain during excavations there. Eventually, Zanzibar overtook Kilwa in terms of importance, but the ruins that remain are incredible.
Here is a little look into our trip down to the Kilwa Ruins.
You can read more about it here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kilwa_K...

The tourist stuff is super cool, but I want to see some stuff regarding your everyday life. Take us food shopping. Where do you get your haircut? Do you go to any bars or restaurants or do you typically hang out at peoples homes? What does the Mackers look like?

You want me to take you food shopping? Ok, fine, I will put together a video of us going food shopping. I will do another one of our favorite food places. As for the haircuts: it's boring. During lockdown, Linda just cut my hair but normally it is a woman here from Baltimore who used to have a salon there and she cuts everyone's hair.
