Born and raised in Palermo. I apologize on behalf of each good citizens about the dirty streets. In 30 years of beeing alive I've never thrown anything on the streets. Unfortunately there are many uncivilized people.

Can´t generalize that. I haven´t seen any litter in many places in the North and Center of Italy. Perfectly clean.
