Yes. I only have a left leg and it was so swollen all the time. I had been keto for 4 years, I just took a month off and I had to wear compression hose and sleep with my leg elevated which I hate and it still felt tight and looked bad. I am going carnivore this time and in only 4 days, the swelling is already gone. No more compression hose and I can sleep normal again.
And the sad thing is, all those carbs I ate, werent even that good. I am having no problem at all giving them up again.

I have lymphedema stage 3 in my right leg and the Doctors here in South Africa do not want to help me with compression socks / therapy or bandages ... There are now giant Cysts like bulbs protruding over my toes thats constantly bleeding and causing extreme pain to the point where ive had to give up multiple jobs , cant wear anymore shoes on the right. Private therapist also refuse to help until the toes and foot gets treated ... I follow the diet plan along with the exercises and massages ... Currently Id even let a butcher just hack off my foot if he would be willing to ... If any of the Michigan foot doctors could possibly help with any extra advice please contact me I will gladly send photos of the toes leg and foot ... Please any help will be greatly appreciated.

I now work a sedentary nursing position after decades on the hospital floor; welcome lymphedema.

I was thankful to learn that I don't have any of these problems. I was concerned as I entered my 50s, a post-menopausal woman, and after being on my feet all day my ankles and then lower calves would swell. Most days I wore restaurant-style crew socks that aren't exactly compression socks, but do enhance circulation. My ankles don't swell when I wear those, but the lower calves do. I had a physical after work one day, scheduled so my doctor could look at it. She pressed on each foot, saw that it was symmetrical, and noted that I don't have varicose veins. She asked if the swelling goes down when I take my socks off and put my feet up. It did, so she said it's not yet a cause for concern, but she suggested some exercises to further enhance circulation. It has kept the swelling to a minimum. Now in my 60s, the swelling occurs less often.

Most PT. 's don't know a Thing about lymphedema; unless Specifically trained for it. Lymphedema can be caused by cancer surgery removing lymph nodes, car accidents damaging lymph nodes, or war injuries. Many vetetans have lymphedema problems.
If your PT is using basic Ace bandages they won't do a damn thing & may make your condition worse. The difference in Ace & lymph wraps is the weave. If you want to test it, wrap a leg or arm, then get it very wet. Ace bandages Fall off! Compression wraps get tighter & Constrict. And Yes, the cheap Ace bandages Fall down, or the PT is Not wrapping your legs correctly. Seek out a Lymphedema Specialist. Good Luck & get Help.

many of you don't understand a lot of this happens from a messed up thyroid. See a holistic doctor. Regular docs are only trained in pharma and surgeries - this requires a lifestyle change and natural rememdies or you'll be stuck going to a hospital for the rest of your life

hood diet? What does that mean? corn off the cart with mayo, chili powder and parmesan, street taco's? I live in the hood, OH! You're talking about gin and juice with taco's or a tecate, lengua or chorizo breakfast maybe, just no crack, i can't do crack anymore. Is that what you meant? Never heard of the hood diet but i stay in long beach, so maybe it's a given, tommy burgers and fried catfish. i got this. Great advice, i think.

Not saying i have the answers for other people but my doctors kept suggesting eating more vegetables etc. too. But i just kept getting larger & larger & the doctors just kept doubleing my bloodpressure & choleterols meds. A sideeffect of the meds was "water in my legs" & the docs send me thru a nightmare of getting support socks. My doctors also suggested stomach reduction surgery multiple times. 2 years ago my i reached 203 kgs & my eletronic weight stopped working. That was the final straw & i decided to search online for anwers. And everyone was like "Cut the carbs". So i did & started Keto & Omad. My weight today is 127 kgs & ive lost 76 kgs, my meds has been cut multiple times & the water in my legs has nearly fully subsided. Very little loose skin too because of the fasting. Wasnt hard fasting either as its apparently the carbs that make you constant hungry. Again not saying this a cure for anyone else, it just worked for me.

Thank you for sharing your story with us. I followed your same protocol & lost 90 lbs & was doing better, but over Christmas fell off the wagon & found it so unbelievably HARD to get off of the sugar again even though I had been off of it for a yr. The hunger impulses come back like a fire breathing dragon, I swear it is worse than the first time I quit. I am diabetic & check my blood sugar multiple times day. When I was doing intermittent fasting I noticed even drinking a few sips of a diet drink, with no sugar at all, my blood sugar would go up anyway. I wonder if I am so sensitized to sugar that as soon as I taste something sweet , my brain thinks it’s sugar & stimulates the problem. I am Now working getting rid of anything that has any sweetness to it. Has this happened to you? Your comment has really encouraged me to do the right things for myself. Thank you.

@@jtedandlindasimpson7044 Never actually measured my blood sugar at home so cant really tell if im affected by sweetners or not. Do still get a glass or 2 of sugar free diet soda but only when im eating. When im fasting its water/sparkly water & coffee only & it seem to work. But my dentist also keeps warning about how much acid in sodas & that i should quit because its also really bad for my teeth..

I’m a retired nurse & loved wearing support pantyhose 😂 while doing 12 hour shifts. I had a hip replacement and of course I had those white surgical hose to wear for several days afterwards, loved them! (Plus they were warm 👍). Later in life I’ve had minor ankle swelling, nothing serious so I went to CVS and bought a pair of men’s support hose, had nothing for women, yes foot was too big so I cut off some & I wear them as needed, like when mowing the yard, works great! I wear shoes in the house & special supportive shoes when mowing. I’ve had bunions and hammer toe surgery on both feet, the first podiatrist messed up my right foot, used a different podiatrist for left foot, perfect. Yeah the right foot makes walking difficult, and yes I’m NOT going through that pain again. BTW. Love your channel.

I was a patient at a Lymphedema center for about 2 months in April-May 2022. As part of the recovery process, I had my legs and feet measured for bespoke compression socks and night boots. The total cost of purchasing 2 pair of socks and boots was over $1500. I wear the socks/boots 22/7. It worked. I now have chicken legs and will be re-measured for new compression socks next week. I was told I would have to do this the rest of my life, which is worth the price and inconvenience.

@@DrTomBiernacki Doc, you said that *"calf muscles working harder leads to swelling"* but that seems counter-intuitive to me. I would think that the more the calf muscles work, the better they pump the blood and other fluids up the legs towards the heart. Please explain.

Also if you have it in your foot involving your toes and find compression socks are painful look at smoothtoe compression socks and if anyone knows of a brand that skips the toe line or better yet has individual toe compression please let me know, thanks

Also - many old people especially suffer from lymphedema (I’m soon to be 64). Think how impossible it would be for an older person to put on the higher mmhg stockings - for me it is almost impossible! If I do manage to get them on I feel like I’ve battled in a UFC match. Personally the diagnosis of lymphedema has been very hard. It interferes with everything I like to do. It’s embarrassing to go to exercise class with ugly swelling, your legs are always tired, no pep in my step, hiking is difficult and not fun anymore and if you try and employ remedies for your swelling, the majority of your day turns into treatment of your edema and not the stuff you want to actually be doing. I think many doctors give this diagnosis pretty cavalierly because they don’t realize what a life changing disease this is. Just my take on how this has affected me. Yes I know there are groups to join but to me that becomes part of the resentment of your entire life revolving around caring for, treating and enduring your swollen legs, ankles and feet. Even more depressing your Drs will tell you it hasn’t been studied much until recently for curative outcomes. It’s just a little swelling - don’t be such a baby! Yes I am grateful I don’t have a worse disease but how about no disease at all- that is what we should aim for!

Funny-not funny- how Drs. Laugh when they don't know or understand another medical issue. Get different Drs. Or seek specialists on your own. In some states, like Texas, lymphedema gets handled by Infectious Disease Specialists. [No idea why] Maybe because lymphedema makes you prone to infections? good luck & don't give up.

The problem with compression socks is that they do not stretch enough to get on. If I do manage to put a pair on, they cut off my circulation right at the knees. Plus, I ordered online from Solaray "Total Cleanse -Lymph", it is an Organic herbal, roots, seeds, etc. capsules. To assist the body in cleansing the Lymph Process. Plus cut out all Dairy, that will be hard, I love my Cheese. Seems to me if you walked up and incline you could stretch the Calf muscles as well, as the walking exercise would be very good. Deep breathing gets Oxygen into the cells. My Left ankle is the issue, my Veterans VA Clinic Doctor just pokes on it and never EVER recommends anything to cure it. Not even a Specialist for this! So aggravating, I have had this issue for over 5 years; I want it gone. Thank you for the shoe recommendations. Umma wraps look like a great idea, as well.

I have lymphedema in both legs. Venous insufficiency in both legs, i own the exact calf pumps you showed and love em And they are no joke. Way more powerful than others I've tried and super quiet. I also have the full leg pumps prescribed from the docs at Mayo. I also have these neoprene type compressions instead of the low stretch wraps. But sometimes when it gets bad I switch back to wraps for a day or two. I've purchased so many different socks over the past year just trying to find something that works. I get crew or full calf and where does the swelling start at my my upper calf or knees. So I get thigh high open toed well those just barely passed my knees so they roll down and get bunched behind my knees and cause sores and the swelling just builds up above me knees! Finally I got these amazon beand nylon elastic mesh type compression thigh highs and they are the best option I've found and they go all the way to my groin with little silicone dots to help keep in place and they are the cheapest option. I'm 6'4" with a size 16 shoe, was 15 for 25 years till i got lymphedema, so thigh highs are full calf. Knee highs are crew cut, so on. Just get the longest socks you can get no reason to swell at any point in your legs. I also suffer from bilateral peripheral neuropathy so everything hurts. 😢

I had it really bad, I was working for myself cleaning yards part-time and I could barely push a mower, it felt like I pushed it for 20 miles. After the doctors couldn't find anything that normally causes it a kidney specialist took me off Nephedipine. I lost about 50 pounds in about 3 months and all the pain from walking went away. My blood pressure is still a little high so my doctor wanted me to try Amlodipine to see if it was the class of medication or something that was in Nephedipine, within 3 days the edema came back, and I could barely get my shoes on. It looks like I can't take BP medications that end with "pine" Also salt makes it worse, throw the salt shaker away.

Became a subscriber within seconds….Doc has got it down.
      Suggestions for soaks-that’s really good.
But, great improvements can be made just with compresses. Make epsom salt water in a covered jar. Pour some of it over round makeup cotton pads, place pads on the leg. Lightly cover with a tea towel, it'll build up heat, do it for thirty minutes.
If you need to move around, secure the pads with blue painters tape.
The skin will become more supple-structures will relax with epsom salt, it’s magnesium sulfate. Better circulation because skin is not tight.
I had great success with a massage oil formulated for lymphcare. It's mostly peanut oil, some other oils combined. I held it in place. Next morning there was a fierce itching behind the knee…a little knob, pea sized, rose to the surface. Gently massaged it away..it was debris from lymph node. It
was relieved immediately with manipulation, body took care of it from there.
Relieved pain, and my step was noticeably better, now I had a full step, it was as if I had a pebble in my shoe.
Previous, all I had done was elevate. That doesn’t solve anything.
Massage works. Use strokes to help clear lymph nodes, go in the direction towards the heart, nice even strokes. Then….lightly wrap by draping a clean towel.
Let the oil, whether massage oil, castor oil, or magnesium sulfate oil-let it soak in.
Not windshield wiper…let the therapy work by opening the channel, let the oil sink in.
We need to make a ritual out of these simple remedies, do it for relatives, people on their feet all day.
We have the internet and Dr. Tom…how good is that ? It’s spectacular, that’s what.

My edema went away when I started taking 24mg of astaxanthin a day. I'm on 12mg now to maintain my system but the improvement in overall health was remarkable. I highly recommend astaxanthin (Real astaxanthin - not just the food coloring that they put in farm raised salmon) for anyone with a heart condition. Cancer patients wouldn't hurt to take this wonderful supplement. I use the form sold by "Doctor's Best" but there are several good suppliers of this supplement.
I went from having to take a water pill to not having to take one. In other words, my heart is pumping better now. I'm sure my lymphatic system is in better shape as well.

SO WHAT DID YOUR PODIATRIST RECOMMEND ??? ANYTHING ???
I SUGGEST THAT YOU OR ANYONE WITH A MEDICAL CONDITION, TYPE IN THE YOU TUBE SEARCH BAR ABOVE YOUR SYMPTOMS OR HEALTH CONCERNS AND SEE WHAT COMES UP.
YOU WILL BE AMAZED AT HOW MUCH COMES UP BY PROFESSIONAL AND EVERYDAY PEOPLE WHO HAVE HEALTH ISSUES.
TAKE THAT INFORMATION AND RESEARCH FURTHER.
WARNING: NEVER JUST STOP YOUR PHARMA MEDS WITHOUT YOUR DOCTORS SUPERVISION !!!
I FIND THE PHOTOS, WORD DEFINITIONS AND HOW THEY EXPLAIN THE VIDEOS VERY HELPFUL !!!
BEST WISHES TO ALL WHO ARE TRYING TO IMPROVE THEIR HEALTH !!

Been to a podiatrist. Looked quickly, prodded a couple times, seemed unconcerned. On hbp meds, cholesterol and water pill. Believe I got this from massive tib/fun break almost 40 years ago and surgeries to pin the breaks and then remove pins probably did this damage. Can I buy these things on my own?

We will have a video out on omega 3 fatty acids and krill oil out this week, but yes it can be a strong option!
If possible, we would appreciate a quick rating (hopefully good), as it makes a HUGE difference!

I’d say raw garlic, raw onions, parsley, cilantro and celery. A proper colon cleanse should also help.

I am devastated at this video. I have swollen ankles and big swellings below each knee and my skin is flaky like a snake. I put in the best creams twice a day but it does not help. I do exercises twice a day and lie twice a day with my legs in the wall. I have lost 13k and now weigh 57k and parts of my legs look much thinner but the swollen parts don’t budge. I am wearing Velcro stockings over my feet up to my knees but now my knees also look fat and swollen. My legs and now my arms are covered in red bruises from who knows what. And I have had them for years and they do not fade away. And my skin often breaks and leave scars. We are having a heatwave with temperatures over 30* C and the compression Velcro stockings are very hot 🥵 to wear and make my legs feel very heavy. I am 78 years young but often feel much older. I a, now walking with a cane when outdoors as I have had many falls. I wish I knew what causes this because nothing I do seems to help 😢😢😢

I was 15 when I got lymph.i don't wish it on anyone, because once you get it,that's it really. Your life is over because everyone looks at you, the kids are mean, and no one will give you a job because you have a disability now, you have to go up in clothing sizes, that includes wearing men's shoes and socks, because you won't be able to wear women's shoes, socks and pants 👖 because they don't make them in your new size, you can wear dresses and skirts, but nothing nylon ,you will get to much static in your leg's, and you will go from skinny to a 16+ in no time, walking, cycling and swimming is good for lymph, but start slowly, I know because I' got lymph back in 1987 from a spider bite, that bit me when I was camping with family, NOW HAVE LYMPH IN MY WHOLE LEFT LEG.💕🇦🇺

I really like your videos. They have been helpful. However, I want you to know it is after taking doctor prescribed Iboprofen for 3 days for a hip injury that my feet, ankles, and legs swelled up like baloons. I believe the Ibuprofen did injury to my heart which is already in heart failure status that triggered the edema. Prior to taking the Ibuprofen I had no swelling in my feet, ankles, or legs....and I could even put my one hand around my ankles. Further, whether a doctor prescribes Advil or Ibuprofen for an injury one must not take it long term not even for 6 weeks. I have never had any kidney or liver issues in my life as indicated by numerous routine blood tests but the Advil and Ibuprofen did a number on my kidneys and liver as proven by blood testing after taking the Advil and Ibuprofen. My Right hip injury is totally healed but now I am having to deal with the damage to my liver and kidneys. Had I been able to do rehab at home I would HAVE BEEN TAKING TURMERIC AND ARNICA BUT HAVING TO REHAB AWAY FROM HOME MADE THAT OPTION NOT SO EASY.

I have been helping my wife by using a vibrator on her feet and leg below the knee every morning. I use a cream made by Vaseline company on her feet and legs. and also use Vicks vapor rub for her toenail fungus that her foot doctor told her to try.. I do have one of those compression leg and foot gadgets, that i bought for myself, ill try it on her.

What is going on when red swelling in the calves and feet for years then after first bicycle ride that was harder than intended due to e bike battery fail but in my left lower inner thigh just above the knee i now have a swollen bulge but barely got sore as expected from the bike ride. i am overweight 150lbs overweight 50 years old, motivated and excited about reversing these self inflicted issues, or at least i have not done anything to prevent any of this. 3 years i smoked heroin, no needles, the fentanyl 3 years all while smoking meth which i am afraid this is more of a cause from smoking something in the product. it all started from sitting in the same spot for hours, sedentary for longer than most people. There's this fear i have that exercising will make this worse like i have bad blood in my legs and if i get my heart pumping i'll pump that through my heart and i'm reminded of warnings on tv check with your doctor to make sure you are healthy enough for exercise.

I understand most of what you said; however obese people need help in doing this. With pronation and swelling of toes, feet and ankles, it’s almost impossible to find a walking shoe to fit. Now what? With weeping toes what can one do?

Here's another thing that has helped me (venous stasis) -- a zero-gravity chair. When I feel swelling starting, I elevate -- and it's amazing how quickly you have to urinate after doing this -- all that fluid drains out. Some of us have haglund's syndrome, so it's not good for us to rotate our ankles. How I wish that could be fixed - because combine it with the vein swelling, it's so uncomfortable.

When I was taking Ozempic and stopped wearing my wraps my legs feet ankles swelled up 20+ cm, due to having congestive heart failure. However, my legs and ankles were shiny Pale Brightly colored skin, and it was not red.
So, I'm wondering what should I do.
