Keep on keeping on. Just no global sand oceans this time. That was the one thing I didn't like about WA3, as someone who understood the basics of how planets worked even back then. Tatooine only works with super-tech and interstellar trade (at least half of which is either criminal or hutt-based... not that those two are different).
First, we got Eiyuden, the spiritual successor of Suikoden. Now we got Armed Fantasia, the spiritual successor of Wild Arms. Still cannot believe that this is happening. Truly wonderful news.
BoF5 was good. BoF6 was trash and killed BoF. Anyway, we just need a new BoF. No need for a spiritual successor. Capcom is perfectly capable of making it.

How good does a JRPG need to look to get funding? It looks phenomenal and the talent that are working on these games are top notch.
I used to sink in hundreds of hours on Wild Arms 1 & 2 to 100% the game back in the PS1 RPG golden age. It's great to see the series coming back, can't wait to play it

Agreed. I dont know how companies like square got it in their heads that turn based was "dated", but its NOT dated, its just a different genre. One they abandoned and threw their die hard fans away over.... And that is why Atlus, and games like Persona, are DESTROYING squares dime-a-dozen action games..... They gave up their title as "King of RPGs" to be mediocre.
Turn based RPGs never left. Tons still come out, be it smaller projects from Square Enix (or remasters of older turn based games), Atlus' library, the Trails series, Pokémon, etc. People act like just because Final Fantasy is evolving it's gameplay style means that this somehow equals "there are literally zero turn based games". If anything, that's disrespectful to the genre, implying Final Fantasy was the only one worth mentioning.

The next Dragon Quest Valkyia Profile Games like the "Diofield Chronicles" they are calling the "Final Fantasy Tactics for a new age" and many others are becoming more action game than turn based affair, leaving turn based fans with very few choices in triple A titles. Yes, I mentioned Atlus, who are currently kings of the genre. But Square is trying to transform too many IP's into action titles, throwing their original fans to the side more for profit than creativity. Final Fantasy 7 remake is the PERFECT example- It didnt "evolve"....It was dumbed down. The materia system is a shadow of what it once was. Party control is VERY optional, sometimes giving to little or no reason to directly control them, hence less overall connection with the characters. They are relying on modern pretty graphics and nostalgia over creativity, and breaking it into multiple parts to milk the fans. Thats not the Squaresoft of the past. And being that they once DID rule this genre, some of us do not want them setting examples for other developers, because other developers HAVE followed their lead in the past....

Can’t wait for more info and updates on both this and Pennyblood. The tone and character designs from Pennyblood are admittedly more to my personal taste, but the combat in this one also looks like energetic fun and very cinematic. The character models look really clean too!! Excited to see more~

Wild Arms was such an amazing experience. It's one of the few PS1 RPG's that have really stuck with me even after all these years. Praying for this games development success 🙏
As much as the Wild Arms series and the idea is pretty interesting using western themes, I think the issue is that the plot and world building completely varies with each game. As such unlike Nihon Falcom and the Trails (Kiseki) series, there isn't a definite lore or character or environment to hook the players to come back each time. If there would be a remake of Wild Arms 1, but on a different scale and direction, it would be a continent with a timeline of technologies, definitions, and flora and fauna unique to it, so that it can be reused for sequels, with returning characters, and improved battle and exploration mechanics as the 'world' advances through the technology.
I know some people are very skeptical about Kickstarter, I had a couple of bad experiences myself and now I do my due diligence before a pledge, but one thing is for sure if this is anything like Eiyuden Chronicle, a group of devs who love for the source material and the original game leads them to create what no major AAA company will greenlight, from what I can only surmise is due to mental deficiencies, then I will pledge as much as my wallet can afford without yelling at me, I love both game series, I have the full set of Wild Arms (yes even the PSP one) and all the Shadow Hearts, this is something I would gladly put a stamp of approval once Kickstarted goes live and it checks out.
I'm almost 100% skeptical of KICKSTARTER. With that said I also took the leap of faith and went head first into pledging Eiyduden Chronicle. It's my first pledge and I'm in my late 30's. I can't wait for it to release and I may take that same leap for this.

@@anaveragegamer359 I believe a few 3D games that were on Kickstarter release successfully, few I can think of are Wonderful 101 remastered, Elite dangerous, Divinity Original Sin 1 and 2, anyhow as I said I understand the skepticism, I will give you my thoughts, the one thing that stops developers from creating the game they envision, is that when given the opportunity from a big company, they have to realize the dream with one hand tied behind the back, and jump through bureaucratic, fire engulfed hoops, as I said do the research look in to the team and the people not the Kickstarter campaign, my mistake before was that because a game was advertise as coming back that is all I needed but I am older hopefully smarter (don't ask my wife) so if I see something I like and it hits my nostalgia points, I'll go in to detective mode.

If basically that whole group is trying to basically create a spiritual successor and basically bring back this dead franchise that'd be tempting to see realized. Especially good sign that they have the same composer behind it. The music was just iconic.

Eiyuden to revive Suikoden, Armed Fantasia to revive Wild Arms, and Penny Blood to revive Shadow Hearts. It's a fantastic time for people who grew up with RPGs like this.

Wild arms 3 is a guilty pleasure. The game never stops giving. One minute your on foot. The next your having gunfights on horseback. And then they give you a tank.
I am baffled that ANY company wanted to support theirs games/IP that are so well loved.. I mean come on, we are talking about Wild Arms and Shadow Hearts (spiritual successors but still!).. But pretty glad that theirs kickstarter was a success. I can't wait to play BOTH of these games :D ♥
Looks like they're going back to basics in this one. In which it's like the first Wild Arms that resemble more of a traditional JRPG that's more about using the setting that's like a Western world rather than gameplay that utilizes the setting a bit (In Wild Arms 3 the characters move around like they're in a gun a fight, and how each character uses their gun is kind of important).
When I bought Wild Arms on a whim in grade 10, popped it into the playstation and saw that intro...I taped it with my VCR and watched it over and over. Started really getting into RPGs in 94 and was so spoiled by what came out the next few years. Almost 40 now and really hoping my son will enjoy those games with me soon.
Suikoden returning with Eiyuden Chronicle. Wild Arms returning with this. Couldn't be happier seeing new games, heavily inspired by nostalgic legendary JRPGs.
This looks incredible, certainly gives very nostalgic vibes to the old great jrpgs. Including the cheesy character names, they really made me chuckle XD My only concern is that I hope we'll get a bigger party to play with, even the best looks and story can fall flat if the gamplay just gets stale way too fast without some variety in the party lineup.
I highly recomend it though it is a dated system. You can play Wild Arms 1 on the PS5 with their collection just be aware its graphics are DATED now a days. If you ever want to play 1 2 3 5 and Alter Code F are all good. Alter code F is a remake of 1. I never played the PSP games so I cant say how good they are. 4 is a giant miss as far as I am concerned but 5 was such a love letter to the rest of the series it redeemed the series.
This game looks awesome. Starting up Wild Arms for the first time today, been long overdue. It also took me a long time to get around to trying Grandia series, despite knowing about it for so long as well !

Day one for me as well I LOVED the Wild Arms series growing up still listen to Knight Blazer. What I am seeing so far is making me go YES especially since it seems like you guys are going Wild Arms 1 style.
I'm finally happy to see this even if it isn't wild arms title, this game is going to be hype and I am looking forward to buying it. Hope they release it for steam as well.
It looks like it could be a fun game but aesthetically, nothing will ever beat Wild Arms 3 for me. That one got the "Fantasy West" setting better than any game before or after it.

PC and we already make it to 1MM USD for console release. So PS5 for sure.

Grew up on Wild Arms 1, this has a cool modernized feel to old vibes with the music alone
It's been a looooong time since a jrpg got me excited but seeing the style of this and seeing a turn-based combat system has me quietly optimistic.

WildArms 2 are my best turn based so far because it have great final boss battle scene, i touch my heart when everyone give their hope to the MC at his last battle.. are this Armed Fantasia will have the best ending too? let see..
Day one for me as well I LOVED the Wild Arms series growing up still listen to Knight Blazer. What I am seeing so far is making me go YES especially since it seems like you guys are going Wild Arms 1 style.

It looks like it could be a fun game but aesthetically, nothing will ever beat Wild Arms 3 for me. That one got the "Fantasy West" setting better than any game before or after it.
They're also going to have a kickstarter campaign for this game to raise funds, definitely worth it.
