IMHO you should try Wild ARMs 1 and 2, its a must in the JRPG list of PS1, and its one of the rare example of the western release opening theme can stand toe-to-toe to its original
Seconding the comment of everyone here, it is worth the shot. You don't have to play Wild Arms 1... even though I loved it. The amount of puzzles, tough fights and the storyline here, along with the soundtrack make a remarkable game.

I found this game by accident at a yardsale. This was shortly after my very first experience with final fantasy 7 and my very first rpg experience. I loved this game. One of the happiest accidents of my life.
I got this as a bundle from my Playstation purchase when I was a kid. It was never played until the first 6 months then I went nuts playing this for a year cause the puzzle was just hard for a kid me
I believe I need 3 months to beat this. I discussed with my friend every lunch break whenever I stuck. I mean the puzzle and tools utility was hard sometimes
Remember when i finished this game with just a english dictionary at 13 y.o (english is not my native language) i don't believe it till now that young me can finished this rpg with many puzzle things without guide, without someone help, and limited in language.

This game serves as a perfect example of how unnecessary all the new fangled shiny graphics are when you have a solid game otherwise. The puzzles, story, music, and the world of Filgaia in general, are more enjoyable to me than 90% of the new games released. Games these days just feel cold by comparison

oh gosh this brings nostalgia when i was little I watched my big brother played this game on saturday night and I fell asleep on the floor in his room and when I woke up in the morning he was still playing. edit: shared this video to him and he remembers that moment even after 20 years, best game intro ever.
When I have the game as a child, first thing I go every morning before going to school was to play this, not because I want to beat it, but because of the music. It was the most wonderful music ever, and it's still is and very touching. I miss this. Why can't openings of game be just as good, I know there are some good ones, but sometime just music like this get the point across better.

@Jahan917 I've looked up the lyrics, and they don't add anything to the opening for me. Maybe, if I spoke Japanese it would, because I don't think a translation is 100% accurate to what you're trying to say. However even if I only get the gist of what it means. It's nothing that isn't conveyed by the music itself. This song isn't empty, it's full of emotion. You should try listening to it without comparing it to the other version. Take it on its own merits.
@Jahan917 I totally have to disagree with you. The trumpet beats the vocals hands down. Don't get me wrong the Japaneses opening is nice, but this one has much more feeling in it. The vocals in the original opening are good, but for me, I prefer this opening. The instrumental rings truer and deeper then the vocals do for me.

Lol, I was guessing 4 and 5 sucked based on the cover and screen shots. Wild Arms 2 has the best story-line in my opinion. "The Black Knight" is a crazy powerful in WA2. WA2 is still the best in the series. To me the game went downhill after 3 when XSEED took over. 4 was too weird and unrefined and 5, even though I thought it was fun, reminded me of something from Gundam G.
I still have my PSOne and Wild Arms 2 in good condition. Hmmmm I think I should finish the game now. Haven't beat it cause my controller broke. So sad, wish I could fix my psone controller.
@greatrieck yeah i did, i remember when they came out with the demo and i played the heck out of that before the release of the game. What sucked was i brought it with me to school because i was going to go to my dads one week after school and some douche stole it, GTA3 and my copies of the Wild Arms Anime. I never got justice for that terrible day but i figured it was a bunch of kids who were bullying me that year.
@ageant01 Lord Blazer, and the spirit of the sword reminds him he has "friends" to help Theres the "You'll never be alone no matter where you are" theme coming into play, if you look up the words even you can get a distiction of what's being said, "In the darkest hour, youll still find me" the words key perfectly with Character appearences Kanon and Bradley specifically,also emotions and things of the other characters interactions,I'm thinking you haven't played the game only watched the opening
@ageant01 That's like saying "Hearts on Fire" or "Eye of the Tiger" would be complete songs if it was just empty background music without the vocals, The song is pretty empty, because the THEME of the song is "You'll never be alone, no matter where you are" Just music on its own does not convey the theme, the words are mentioned quite often in character appearences and the ending theme of the last boss battle is Ashley vs Lord Blazer, in which he seems to be "alone" as he has to fight
