Unfortunately for my wallet, I am a completionist with Marvel Legends, so I picked up all four 2-packs, lol. Absolutely love Sabertooth, Lady Mandarin, and Lilandra. Agreed with the ranking order and loved the video!
If we're talking a new Wolverine wave, 7 figures... two Logans. 1) 90s Feral Durag Wolverine 2) Brown Costume Update w/ two alt heads, one unmasked, one neutral masked, one snarling masked. Updated claws. 3) Laura Wolverine in her Krakoan Era Costume, masked and unmasked heads, claw hands, no claws hands. 4) Gorgon either in kimono or business suit with swords 5) Ogun 6) Daken in Fang Costume swappable arms. 7) Reavers Donald Pierce BAF) Roughhouse 3pk, Civilian Logan as he appeared in the original Wolverine miniseries, Mariko Yashida and Yukio.
The Hulk Wolverine two pack was essentially a collectors item pick up for me. I have 4 hulks that I rotate on my shelf ( three Hasbro Hulks and one Marvel Select.) This set with the window packaging will look nice on display in box with the related comic next to it on the shelf.
I think that Patch 2 pack will come more into favorites after Deadpool and Wolverine having him on the silver screen will really make the pack worth it almost as makes me wanna get it
Thanks for the video Xmanny. I commented after watching your review on the Hulk/Wolverine 2-pack. This set would literally pop out on anyone's shelf. Sabretooth looks to be the keeper in this set however. A much needed variant.
Thanks for the rating and your honest thoughts about this series. I'm particularly fan of Wolverine so for me the packs with Sabertooth and Patch were the essentials. Lilandra and Psylocke are perfect female figures but the Wolverines that came with are nothing indispensable for me as a collector anyway I'd like to have them also 😅
A very fair and honest assessment. Happy they did your lady mandarin right. I have my dark Phoenix surrounded by my Shiar and star jammers to the right and hellfire club to the left
To quote your video, “It’s like Hasbro didn’t have faith to sell Lilandra or lady mandarin, solo.” I don’t think that’s the case. In fact, I think the contrary. I feel like Hasbro knows those are figures that the consumer has been asking for so they hide them behind mediocre figures that otherwise wouldn’t sell on their own. You’re basically being forced to buy 2 figures instead of 1.
Agreed. I lucked out and found most of these on sale for half off retail at a local comic store for Memorial Day. Otherwise I would have been very reluctant to pay full price for any of these except the Sabretooth 2 pack. The headsculpts in the Wolverine/Lady Mandarin 2 pack are very nice though.
So glad you made this video, it's such a great discussion topic. I'm someone who isn't a completionist when it comes to Marvel Legends, I usually just stick to characters that are near and dear to me personally and I lack the budget or space to cover all corners of the Marvel universe that the line has covered. Classic Avengers, X-Men, F4, Spider-Man/street level heroes and classic Marvel villains are what I tend to stick to. I also like to be one and done with most characters on my Marvel shelves, having what I feel is the definitive version is all I need and if a superior one comes along I'll usually sell the previous one (again comes down to budget and space), but there are a few instances where I'll have maybe one variant of a character, like say a black suit Spider-Man alongside a classic red and blue. The only must have set for me was the Sabretooth set. I've been dying for a better version of that character, he's a top 10 Marvel villain for me and honestly that civilian look for Logan I was completely fine with. I associate Wolverine more so than any other Marvel hero as kicking ass in regular clothes just as much as in his superhero costume. As for the other sets the Patch/Joe Fixit is I feel the best idea for any of these sets, it completely justifies itself as a 2-pack and the choice of characters, but as much as I love that cover I just don't have any need for those versions of those characters, especially since you can't even properly recreate the cover given Joe Fixit's arm range. Brood Wolverine and Lilandra I appreciate as a tribute to the cosmic side of the X-Men but I have very little attachment to Lilandra. All that being said the Lady Mandarin set has really caught my eye. I'm not super attached to Psylocke and the previous figures of her haven't impressed me, but that figure really is stunning, plus I'm a sucker for villains and she'd look great alongside other X-Men foes. I'd even be willing to take that other Wolverine even if it were simply for some hatless head options to use on the cowboy Logan from the other set. I'll probably hold off for a while before getting it though, with all the other recent releases outside of these 2-packs I've got a lot to catch up on. Either way great video as always!
If you wanted a one and done Wolverine then all of these Wolvie figs are surplus to requirements. I can't even imagine buying all four of them. 😂 Sabertooth is essential. That's probably the best one we'll be getting for the foreseeable future. 🤘
20:35 aww, I was hoping you'd compare this Victor with the Diamond Select version, as that's who I have as my MvC2 representative. It has limited articulation, but to this point, had the best look. Either way, I'm sure either this version or the Diamond Select version will look fine with my makeshift birdie _(headswap of onslaught sharon carter head on buck of AoA jean grey, with a cable gun or mcfarlane warhammer gun)_
I'd initially pre-ordered all of them, but after some thought cancelled the Joe Fixit and Patch. It didn't really move me as much as the others. Pretty sure I'll be able to get it later on at a better price if I decide I still want it at a later date... A Lilandra dnd Deathbird 2-pack would be so awesome!! They could even call it the Sibling Rivalry pack...
In my mind, the perfect Wolverine BAF wave would look something like: Some sort of Classic Kitty Pryde Yukio An updated Brown Wolverine Ogun Daken Harry Leland As for what the baf itself is, I have less ideas
I was going to say that, i just got my Lilandra and she got her face painting on, although not as good as the Mistique's extra head but still good. Would recommend you to get the Marvel Select Brood & Skrull 2 pack for your Broodlings. They are very good
For me it's 1. Sabertooth 2. Lilandra 3. Psyloch 4. Joe fixit Ranking based on off the desirability of the main figure, how interesting or unique I find the execution of logan, and my overall interest in the costumes. Sabertooth on the omega red body has been the top of my want forever and I really like the civilian logan. Lilandra looks great and the brood wolverine is a super cool and unique variant that I can never see getting a single card or revisit. Sure I want a Fang costume but that's easily something they can do down the line. Brood logan is what 2 packs like this is for. Psyloch looks awesome though I have no attachment to this costume. The wolverine is nonexistent to me. That's $50 for a single figure. I don't know what else they could have done but this is a repeat of a figure I already skipped. Joe and Patch, I just don't have an attachment to either costumes BUT this is a set that demanded to get made. The fact that it's taken this long is staggering. They're iconic together. But at least they have a great execution especially Patch. Just it's not for me.
I think you can make an argument that the Lilandra 2-pack would be the most important, since we have not gotten it as a Hasbro figure, while we had a number of Sabertooth. Of course, it would all come down if you want a new character or would you want an upgrade for an already available figure. Either way is fine.
i grew up in the early 2000s so i want a X-Men Evolution wave. stylized to the show or not it doesnt really matter, the suits were a mesh between og and modern looks to me and i always wanted a Spyke in ML form he was STORMS NEPHEW and i'm pretty sure that was his debut...eventually he joined the morlocks in the show when he mutated and couldnt pass as human anymore turning into a brute spike dude lmao would be a dope BAF
I have 2 of them, I will buy a third this month, Patch and Joe Fixit. I will hopefully get all of them. Not going for the Wolverines, really going for the other Figures. Use the Joe Fixit as a Villain, an Evil Counterpart of the Hulk. I have 3 Evil Hulks on my Earth 616, Outback Hulk, Joe Fixit, and Red Hulk. I'm using them on different Villain Teams. Outback Hulk is in my Dark Avengers, Joe Fixit is a Maggia Enforcer, and Red Hulk is in my Thunderbolts.
4. Black Ninja pinless Wolverine and Lady Mandarin: I don't understand why Hasbro re-released a fairly easy-to-find figure like the black-suited Wolverine, only with a pinless that doesn't impress almost anyone, and accompanied by an ephemeral but pretty appearance of Psylocke. 3. Brood Wolverine and Lilandra: Similar to the above, I don't know the need for an old-mold, forgettable Wolverine figure, with Lilandra having easily been a solo release, as she was the only one in the pack that many wanted. 2. Patch-suited Wolverine and White smokin' Joe Fixit: A very nice pack, I feel that a very elegant Logan is great, and a Joe Fixit that matches him, even though I much prefer the previous version with the blue striped suit. 1. Civilian Logan and 97 Sabretooth: Perhaps the best version of Logan in civilian cowboy appearance, but what puts him in the first place is the figure of Sabretooth with a nineties appearance and a more corpulent mold that does justice to the villain, thus fulfilling the fans' desire to add him to their collections. Like Lilandra, Creed could have easily been a single release.
I agree with paint over pins and I'm fine with pins when they can blend like black pins in black pants. Pins in the arms bother me though even if its skin tone.
Haha, I called it to myself. Of course, the Sabertooth pack will be #1 because of him and Lilandra pack #2 just because those two figures are what the collectors want. However, I'm with you on the Psylocke figure. The best figure to me, next to Sabertooth, would have been better. If it was her Outback look, one step closer to completing the Outbqck team or her first aperance look. But I do have about 10+ different Psylocke customs including her Outback and 1st appearance look, until then, I'll wait tell they make them, before u remove them from my Psylocke shelf ( Psylocke is my favorite Marvel Character)
All in all this was an awesome roster of figures but to have forced half of them down your throat through 2 packs feels kinda extortionist to me. I only bought the Sabertooth and Mandarin Psylock packs and I feel fine with the choice but really this could simply and honestly be a Baf wave mayde with Tux Fixit as the BaF. Anyway Hasbro is what Hasbro does.
At this point we need an updated Gladiator on the Omega Red buck. Obviously, Deathbird and the rest of the Starjammers as well. In the X-Men 97 line (which they should continue) we're gonna need Morph, Jubilee, Sunspot, Forge, Punker Storm, Beast... Also, the X-Men 97 thing reminds me we need more Magik figures. Some Darkchilde and New Mutants versions to be specific. All the New Mutants.
I get the sense that Hasbro will only do a BAF wave these days if they can push at least 3 "nobody ask for these" minimal effort repaints in the wave. Until then they will gouge us with the 2 packs/3 packs and the retro cards.
I love the traps into the shoulders on the patch more than every other design. I hate how the others just drop off from the neck into these round ball shoulders. The plus side is if enough people hate it, I can pick it up in the Hasbro outlet for cheap. The lady Mandarin and Lilandra feel like the Ghost rider haslab where everyone wanted a crack at the Goblin Queen figure but didnt want the other stuff. I'm new to these lines, but from a regular business sense, why not monitor the figures people ask for in the packs and release them separately? We all know its a money grab, but you can make money and also have happy customers. Another great example is the X-men three pack with Gambit. I like that design more than every other gambit I have seen, but I don't love the costume. Hostage packs. Great terminology!
I've said it before, Hasbro, if you're doing pinless arms, don't do pinned legs on the same figure! It's just half-assed and lazy! Either do all pinless or all pinned, not half and half! It makes it so much more distracting when it's half and half, once my ADHD ass notices it, I can't unnotice it!
Thanks for the inspiration for the Sabretooth picking his teeth pose...I hadn't thought about that one..👑
Awesomeness video X-Manny87 👏👏🙌🙌👍👍😉😁
