The best thing in this race, besides the fascinating performance by Joseph Schooling, is this historic three-way silver medal tie of those three great butterfly swimmers, that was an epic moment when they joined hands and stepped up together to the podium, that was the best moment in Rio swimming. I'm happy for Laszlo Cseh who's 31 years old and this olympics could be his last, for Chad Le Clos he's still young and has more time to achieve a lot of things. For Micheal Phelps, can't find words to describe the legend and best sportsman in history, the Olympics will never be the same without him.
honestly joseph is so amazing…he beat his idol at such a young age. look at his face, how proud and happy he is and how the other competitors hug him! so what if he didn’t do as well in tokyo, he tried his best !!and yes we never know if there’s someone better out there, everyone is training hard and aiming to do better. tokyo could’ve been their win in many years, just wasn’t joseph’s.

Unfortunately, he failed to qualify for the semi-finals. But at least, he did his best and will be back stronger in the next Olympics. Great news, he successfully defended his title again at the 31st SEA games.
Are you sure he has schooled everyone? He has won only one gold medal. What happened to him since then? Michael Phelps is still considered the greatest swimmer and you don't expect him to win all the time, especially 100 m butterfly is his weakest event. Besides this, he was old and slower compared to himself in 2008.
Nope, he was born and raised in Singapore. His mother is a Malaysian Chinese but that doesn't mean in anyway that he was 'made in ipoh' en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joseph_Schooling
I wouldn't think so. Phelps did what he did not only because of his technique, but his physique (his arms are very long) was made for swimming. Also height does not matter as much as technique and how you conduct your strokes (and also endurance ofc).
***** Let's see how he performs at the world. Le Clos' win against Phelps back then was shown to not be a fluke since he is very consistent in world championships (especially short course) and WC as well. Wonder if Schooling will do well as well.
Who's here after Joseph Schooling announced his retirement from competitive swimming? All the best to you, Joseph - and thank you for giving us this moment! 🎉

Nice metaphor haha XD
that's actually exactly what happened😂
Well yeah, Phelps can loose. No one is invincible just as Schooling can lose and did lose the other race he competed in. Phelps anyway rebounded by winning the gold in the 4 x 100 medley relay and ending his career as an Olympic champion.
KC CHEONG Well Joseph is not 100% Asian tho...
Heidi Chan he's still Asian though? do you mean to say he can't be called "Asian" or "White" by those words themselves because he's mixed?
Congratulations for Joseph Schooling. From Vietnam ❤❤🎉🎉
Awesome but that was his only gold in Rio. I hope he would be better in Tokyo and win more than 1 gold.
Thats because he only participated in that 1 event, other han freestyle
lalilulelo I'll still be proud of him even if he doesn't win any medals ✊
Kaye Grace for singapore to go into final is very good already.
Im from singapore and im just here to watch again and yasss joseph won
can you all imagine what if the triplets gets gold if without joseph😂 "if" only. Looks like they have to create 2 more gold medals
As a Singaporean Chinese, I'm really proud of you schooling. Go AC!
What a race with an incredible ending. They're awesome!
Whats insane is at age 31 Michael Phelps was still able to swim faster than most of the racers who are 10 years younger than him. If he was 23 he would have won this race no doubt.
Laszlo cseh also was 31...
Uhm then why didnt he set a record when he was 23 higher than schoolings speed.
LOL I was talking about how this would go the day before this actually began with my friend, and I was like "Schooling's gonna win" and I had a feeling Le Clos/Phelps would tie & Cseh would be 3rd and it happened xD
Almost happenned, because Cseh was not 3rd. You should do the lottery more often, anyway ;)
amazing_butterfly The happened reference was to the Schooling win. LOL But yeah almost. I called Dirado's win as well. As a Hosszu/Le Clos fan, I was quite ecstatic that my calls came true even though my faves didn't win LMAO XD
no
Cseh is the only professional swimmer who doesn't wear cap, unbelievable!
Phelps arrasando como sempre💙🏊🏻
Even though I wish Phelps had won I can’t help but be happy for Singapore congrats guys the world is proud of you
