    Thomas Healy is motivated to keep Hyliion alive so he can continue to play boss with his toys while collecting massive paychecks and bonuses. He will drain the remaining cash and the investors will eventually, finally, be left with nothing. It's as simple as that.

    Great review, buddy 👍 I also met Thomas at that time, and I think the same thing. To me, it makes business sense to pause the business plan on ERX Production. This gave hyln a way out of their commitment with Peterbuilt to buy the other 170 units. The ERX is not dead. It's simply too expensive for this current economic environment. At this point, I'm also on pause until I see where things go with the Karno generator.

      @anydaynow01 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Agreed, the price for diesel is going to have to go way up for fleets to have a knee jerk reactions and start buying ERX in droves without seeing extended fleet trials where actual numbers in the books and not projections prove that ERX is cheaper than diesel in the long run over thousands of km. The same is seen in BEV adoption for cars, it's just now that people are realizing it is cheaper in the long run to own a BEV charged at home or work than ICE commuting vehicle.

    As made as I am now but I think this is better for the future to keep the focus on Karno to produce a charging station without tapping into the grid. This is good as there will be electricity shortage soon with all this EV hypes. This sounds like the only option to avoid raising money for the company. I won't be at ease until they actually create the first usual charging station. This won't happen over night so will need to be patient.

    • @anydaynow01
      @anydaynow01 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Or as a backup generator for large charging station complexes, or as a solution for fleets that want to charge their trucks overnight in case the power goes out (brown out or storm), that way their tractors or busses are topped off for business the next day, even better if they can offer a small grid battery to provide emergency power until KARNO is ready for loading. This could be lucrative if they come in cheaper and more efficient that standard diesel. But they will need a lot of torturous testing hours to prove to companies they can be trusted as a backup source. The reason companies trust backup diesels even though they are inefficient old tech, they have proven themselves over many decades to be reliable when called on.

    The partnership with Hyliion would also allow Cummins to sell even more 15 L Nat gas engines

    When Hyliion bought the Karno generator from GE Cummins went from being a supplier to a competitor. I sure would like to see a working Karno not just a display before I invest any more in Hyliion

      I believe they did "dyno" testing back in April with the Libertine HEXAGEN hermetic linear motor-generator technology ... I can't find specific findings other than Libertine saying they saw "positive results"... see also "Libertine showcases HEXAGEN platform at ACT Expo". If you find more specifics - please share.

    how compelling and cost effective will the end product actually be by the time it comes out..., the tesla semi will be on version 2 and it already has a 500 mile range and 30 minutes recharge..., the Nikola Fcev only has a 500 mile range and is 20 minutes to fill with hydrogen a far cry from what they originally claimed distance wise!

    There is no confusion here at least on my part. Hyliion’s ultimate goal has always been to sell the erx power train to truck OEM’s. But there are steps to getting there:
    1. Build out and sell the initial 220 units to get the fleets interest. Selling at big losses that they thought they could afford to absorb.
    2. As they garnered more interest thru step one, as they were hoping in a couple thousands of units, they can produce these at independent mod shops. Selling them at smaller losses or break-even point.
    3. They hope step 2 would garners even more interest from fleet owners. Then they would take these interest and go straight to truck OEM’s to convince them to adapt the erx power train like how OEM buy diesel engines to.
    Fact is they don’t have enough $ to absorb the losses from the initial 200 unit due to various reasons, but the main reason is the cost of the erx is just too high for Fleets to buy. The ROI is not there like promised. So they gone down to 30 units To preserve cash to stay alive. So….the master plan is DEAD!! There is no coming back to that plan on their own. Now they are shopping round for the ERX technology to sell or at best find a partner with enough cash.
    If we are lucky enough they find a deep pocket partner, the original plan might be salvaged, but make no mistake about it, their potential partner will suck the life out of hyliion investors, but I’d be ok with it still beat bankruptcy.
    The KARNO is another pipe dream. Don’t bank on it.

      You mean strong as in Tesla and other TRADITIONAL OEMs?! This is happening in the EV bus transit sector as the transit districts are moving to traditional OEMs as they start competing. This is because of the problems the districts have had with the startup type of companies (and their startup type of mentality).

    • @Entrepreneurshipdog

      Anything is possible for hyln now, but if it does manage to survive, it may as well become a strong company. I don't think like tsla but strong. Hyln could just as well get bought out by another oem. It's unpredictable right now, but I'm going to hold what I have
