Perhaps one of the most-awaited aviation events of the year. Air India took delivery of its first Airbus A350 recently, signaling the start of a totally new era for India's flag carrier. Air India is expecting five more A350-900s through March 2024 with many more to come. Find out all about the first A350 in South Asia with today's video.

The new livery has really grown on me, at first I didn't like it but now seeing it on a real aircraft I think it looks really nice.

Air India in its peak was the most luxurious airlines in the world. Air hostess wearing golden saree and jewellery, cabins decorated with traditional paintings and bronze statues, seats with leopard skin pattern, just magnificent.
Everything is ok I am just worried about the aircraft maintenance bcz it's upto them they will maintain the aircraft same for many yrs or not😢

Excellent analysis. Air India is on its way back up. There will be some turbulence but by '25 or '26 it'll be solid if not world class. One thing you did miss is their announcement of full refurbishment of the existing fleet except those 3 77Ls. I do like the idea that 14 leased planes will be replaced by 14 new 359s. Let's see how this pans out. Excited for the future!
Thank you so much. Yes that’s right, forgot to mention the 787-8 will begin refurbishing from mid-2024, 777-300ERs probably around that same time.

Loved this! Excited to see this new era begin for Air India. I really miss the 747s and will miss those 777s, but this tells me they are moving in the right direction!

Awesome stuff!!! would like to know more on the changes happening with Air India.... even though they improve new air crafts and new logo they have to focus more on handling ground, technical and crew staff... need to focus on small issues happening on the aircrafts like departing flights on regular basis... If they do that they will be one of the best airlines in the world...For Sure!!!

Honestly with the new A350-900, I think that it would work well with the new US routes, like the coming Delhi to Dallas route.

Buying new flights are fine and upgrading the system look good. But service standards need change.
Interestingly, Air India’s A350 Registrations VT-JRX, reminds me of Jet Airways registrations (X=any alphabet).
Hope Air India will provide direct flights from Mumbai to cities in Canada.
The 40 Wide body aircraft’s are going to be refitted with latest upgrades to match the world class standards for in-flight customer experiences at around 400 million dollars. This will commence around August 2024 and it will take two years to complete the process which might have the new livery. Until then the 20 wide body aircrafts 5 no’s B 777 200 LR, 9 no’s B777 300 ER & 6 no’s A350 900 will be substituted in the existing routes.
18 years back, Indian Airlines was one of the launch customers of the original Airbus A350. The DGCA has vetoed the proposal to promote the 737 infested private airlines. Backing out by IA was a big setback for Airbus Industie.
The current version is the Airbus A 350 XWB, Extra Wide Body.
Back in 1976, Indian Airlines was one of the launch customers of the 276 seater Twin Aisle Airbus A 300 creating a revolution in Domestic Air Travel !
TATA is not doing anything better than what a PSU could do 50 years back.
Important for Air india to connect important metros in India(Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Kolkota) to North america(New York, San francisco, Washington, Dallas, Chicago and Atltanta) where there is huge indian population. Good service will ensure getting market share from gulf airlines.

A380s are not made anymore. We would have to order older planes. Besides, A350 is the newer, better and more efficient version of A380. Why would we order an older version?

I think the old 777er and 787-8 are going to be refurbished they have budget of around half a billion dollars for that.
Correct. 788 will be refurbished from mid-2024, 777-300ERs eventually too.

the plane with the new livery looks like any other airline,or rather a mix n match of many liveries..its lost its distinctiveness,its uniqueness the old livery had..Yes it was old but single glance n u knew it was AIR INDIA.. tatas should retain it again..

When will YyZ-Del aircraft be replaced?
Not sure. US and Canada routes will take a while since they use mainly 777-300ERs. But those planes will begin to receive new cabins from 2024.
It would be better if AI decides to send its old B777s for cabin refurbishment against every new A350 received. Only change that will significantly improve service is hardware. Indians in general are awaiting new cabins patiently, AI needs improve before patience run out.
There was old news that they would refurbish all the old fleet planes after AI receives the new fleet of planes. So still need to wait for that time to come.
It looks like a budget airline now. The legacy and royalty that made it stand out in international airports is gone.

The livery is nice, the new aircraft are nice but Tata will have to re-train Air India staff if they want the rebranding to be successful.
The staff as I'm aware are receiving the updated training to be updated as per the new TATA takeover.

Sir you must have not watched the video. This is the A350-900, as mentioned in video A350-1000 for Air India will arrive in 2025.

Jaguar has fallen off even more here in US and Land Rovers remains unreliable cars still and they bought them in 2013….

777-300ERs will be refurbished with new cabins starting in 2024. The oldest 777-200LRs will be retired next year.

lol. Just wait. Air India will tear them up in short order. I flew on a relatively new air India airplane before and there was a crack inside the interior cabin wall (non fuselage) and it was taped up with “duct tape”. 😮😅.
