    Winter knocked on the door today in Toronto and I had already made it a goal this year to keep running outside throughout as I'm a relatively new runner. After watching a bunch, this is the best winter running video on TH-cam. Thanks for making it!

    Thanks for sharing this Amy! Just a tip on the video since I also edit my own videos (though not on TH-cam), your transitions are a bit too long (base layer, half-zip, tights etc.) I would say keep them to about 3-5 seconds unless you have a lot more content you want the audience to be reading.

    The problem I have noticed is fogging up of glasses both regular and sunglasses. With a buff or similar material to cover face or nose or both glasses tend to fog up. This is the greatest nuisance for me.

    • @amyspurrcaveney
      @amyspurrcaveney  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I can totally see how that would be very frustrating! It's tricky as you want to be warm.. but you also need to see! I wish I had a solution for this too!

    • @alexmuffles7431
      @alexmuffles7431 ปีที่แล้ว

      I got some contact lenses just for running. I find them really handy since I don't have to always be pushing glasses up as I run.
      I am not a regular contact wearer so getting monthly/ weekly contacts was a good solution between convenience and price for me:)

  • @MsGuguis

    Another question.. The Nike shoes. Do they keep your feet dry when running in the snow, rain or puddles? What socks do you wear to run in these conditions?

    • @amyspurrcaveney
      @amyspurrcaveney  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, they keep my feet very dry in snow/rain/puddles! I sometimes intentionally go through puddles to test them haha but so far so good! I usually wear either my ASICS winter running socks or my stance wool running socks. I’m going to do a review video on those socks next week if you want to know more about them! 😊

    Great tips! Thanks. I'm picking up running again and I just bought a new jacket for running, however im I'm not sure if I should size up. It's not snug but it is tight fitting with a base layer and second layer underneath. Did you size up for your running jacket?

    • @amyspurrcaveney
      @amyspurrcaveney  ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry for missing this! I personally didn’t size up in my winter jacket as it’s not a super form fitting design. It depends on how thick/warm the jacket is I think or how cold it gets where you run! If it’s pretty warm jacket, you wouldn’t need many layers underneath. But if it’s a thinner jacket and you want to layer it, you might be more comfortable sizing up and I don’t think it would hurt anything to go up!

      @@amyspurrcaveney 👍🏻, how sweaty do you get wearing these layers? I wear three layers in -6 Celsius , my first and second layer gets sweaty( wet) half my run ! I think no matter how many layers you wear, the ones closest to your skin will be wet!

    • @amyspurrcaveney
      @amyspurrcaveney  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@HS99876 it depends how cold it is for how sweaty I get! I also agree - the base layer can get sweaty, so that’s why it’s important to have one that’s moisture wicking or merino that won’t trap the water in and get you chilled!

    Do you overheat with all these layers? I don't know how cold it ose where you live but I have the impression that if I wear all these layers, I will explode from heat

    • @amyspurrcaveney
      @amyspurrcaveney  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Haha I hope you don’t explode! It all depends on the temperature! If it’s -22 feels like -30 Celsius, then yes, I’m wearing alll of the layers. But a good rule of thumb is to dress like it’s at least 5-10 degrees warmer outside than it is! You can always peel off a layer too if you heat up on the run.

  • @anneberkes1516

    What's your opinion on wearing crampons during winter run? I need to buy a new pair of shoes because my old ones are pretty warn on the bottom and I can't afford new ones yet. So until then, I've been wearing crampons on some snowy days.

    • @amyspurrcaveney
      @amyspurrcaveney  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have a pair and worn them a few times! They’re great for super snowy days. I only found it hard to run with them on when there wasn’t any snow on the pavement/sidewalk. If it gives you traction and tides you over until you can buy new shoes, then I would keep wearing them!

    Thanks so much for the video! I'm in Burlington and started liking running after I tried Orangetheory on the treadmill. With lockdown, I really don't want to be deterred without the gym so I want to run outside but had SUCH a hard time finding recommendations suitable for a Canadian re: retailer, temperature etc. Thank you!! Curious though about sizes you got.

    • @amyspurrcaveney
      @amyspurrcaveney  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey! No problem at all 😊 Winter running can be super daunting, especially with our Canadian winters. I usually take an XS in the tights and all of my tops. For the half zip, you can always go up a size if you want to make sure you have room to layer underneath! It’s all about layering!

    • @amyspurrcaveney
