- Great doctor, better farmer! It would take a family tragedy to launch this young doctor’s impressive farming career. Following his elder brother Rotham’s tragic passing in a car accident, Obakeng Mfikwe found himself increasingly having to take off time from his medical practice in Fourways in Johannesburg to help his ageing dad with the family’s communal cattle farming at Beestekraal, close to Jericho in North West. And the more he farmed, the more he found himself enjoying it. When he finally took the plunge and bought his first few cows, he knew he was well and truly hooked. So he closed his medical practice and started farming full-time, and within just a few years, achieved some great successes. His Simmentaler and Simbra cattle studs have already won several awards, and he also plants more than a 1000 ha of maize, sunflower and fodder crops on several farms in the North West and Magaliesberg.
"Never allow your education to imprison you" wow🔥🔥 Love this!
I just love how we South Africans can speak different languages to each other but still understand each other they are conversing in both isiZulu and isiTswana but still 😍😍😍❤️❤️
It sounds like our Luhya language in Kenya. I totally understand 90% of what they are saying.
@@suetube-channel wow that's awesome! I always heard Kiswahili was more like our nguni languages but this is interesting😊...were all family hey
@@Mamakhe048 I speak both IsiZulu and Setswana, and both languages are probably only 30-35% similar, so 90% is quite a reach... the closest South African language to the those Kenyan languages would be the TshiVenda language in the Northern part of South Africa. I actually looked up both Swahili and Luhya and I couldn't understand what was being said but I've heard there are some words they share with Nguni and Sotho/Tswana languages.
I know right!
True, that's 3 languages right there. . .Tswana, Zulu and English
Can't get enough of this video. i have been viewing it several times.
Yohhhh my bro, iv been watching it over & over.
I am viewing from California (USA) and I was very impressed and proud of the professionalism that all persons involved in this production exhibited. Please continue the excellent work.
Very impressed. My homeboy. I am a doctor myself and I am in property business but very interested in farming, mining and skin products. I am working on starting my own skin products. Other two will follow. Big up big brother. Another sister from Jericho. 💖

Dr Obakeng started farming. My father was first a farmer and then a Doctor. Finally a missionary. I am interested in your story.
As a third year student in crop science and plant production I am very inspired by Uncle Obakeng😊, I love your work AUNT Angie❤️ #I am a new subscriber of AFRICAN FARMING.
I'm inspired by the video I'm inspired by you and your work and a black man that you had on your panel. I am a African-American in the US. For you to display this level of intelligence I really appreciate you and your work oh, God bless you and your husband keep it moving
I knew a white brother from NY who inherited some money, came here to South Africa bought a farm and grew weed. If a young Brooklyn man can do that. What's stopping you.. Not the produce he was growing I mean. But the fact that he could have a farm I meant sir.
South Africa is just on another level. Thanks for inspiring Dr
I really like your videos especially because it’s educative and inspiring…. Much love from Nigeria to all South Africans
what i like the most is my name is Obakeng.. too much love from Botswna

Brilliant !! i am a budding farmer and now inspired to raise my game and stop being apologetic :). Give us more such success stories!!
I just watched this episode for the first time and i'm really inspired by Obakeng, we as youth always stick to the whole notion of school first then get a degree and then get a job, but to see someone who had it all accomplished and then still decide that no this is not my path i want to do this instead is mind-blowing especially for a professional doctor.. wow!! I think that's just the icing on the cake. I tip my hat off to him.
This is just brilliant
All ready he killed the Game 🎯
Way to go my people. We can do this too on our own land Africa.
Love from 254🇰🇪🇰🇪

black excellence💕
It's African excellence not B....
@@philipbanda6637 It's black excellence, can we stop brainwashing our people with that EFF Pan-Africanism mindset... We're black people and we're doing excellent work.

Inspired to be a Farmer 🕯🕯
Very inspirational. I will be packing my bags soon to do what you are doing. I love the smell of cow dung.
Thank you for such a wonderful channel, I aspire to farm 🚜 one day the man said "you must have confidence in yourself " starting with so many broilers on his first time. So much respect 🙌 I definitely learnt something. Also from Dr to Dr I exactly know what he means.
The presenter is so dynamic and comfortable in her 'own skin', I like her, so inspiring! I wish I knew who she is. And what is she doing now.
great channel you got here, im hooked!
Very inspiring
Beautiful journey ❤🥰🥂
Dope vibes Ange.💖
Good morning African farmers. Much as I appreciate your effort to reach out to farmers world wide, I strongly feel there's a language barrier. Subtitles are sometimes cumbersome to read and watch at the same time. Am sure almost all South Africans will be able to understand English by now. We appreciate your effort to educate the masses of farmers out there
May we also appreciate that they are promoting vernacular languages. Let's be patient and keep on promoting our languages
Excellent show and top presentation.. New Subbie ;)
beautiful
Thank you so much ngevideo enolwazi olugqugquzelayo
Super inspired by the Doc. Thanks for showcasing his story
I wish to be like him when I grow up.
Impressive! Amazing! High respect for this farmer
Imagine if we can have just a million of bo Dr Obakeng we won't be like Zimbabwe when we take our land
100% right, but now that problem is that government farms are leased to people who turn them into "moraka"😅😅, cadres and the deserving people passionate about farming don't even get a chance
We should not let politics dictate us
@@valenciam125 politics affects us each and everyday therefore they're inevitable
@@trdperformance1203 cadres are stupid that's why where they lay their hands everything collapses
Great channel. Keep the farming fire 🔥 burning.
This is good
I lyk yr advise never allow your education in prison u❤❤
Maygodblessyourbusinessandkeepyouallsafe
This is exciting and encouraging. Always loved farming
This presentation is very good indeed. By the way who is the biggest AFRICAN commercial farmer in each province ?
This guy is Soooo good. It's very rare to find a someone to leave his career to Persue farming and on top of that he goes all in and plays the part not hiring people to do his job. You make us proud bhuti.
He is very successful like my neighbor farmer Mr George Shawe Beef. Diejargers Drift Dundee.
Aw madoda! Akuncono ekhaya?!😉

Great show. I’m interested to know where one can find clients to buy broiler chickens at the scale that Obakeng is producing them.
He either has deals with big retailers like Pick n Pay, Shoprite and etc. Or he supplies many different farmers, local shops etc. I think.
