Your music makes me think of my dad. I know this song and Cattle Call because my dad and I watched a lot of westerns ( he mostly watched while I passed out).
Cool fact the Appalachia mountain range and Irish Mountains are from the same mountain range millions of years ago. It was all one giant mountain range and due to the continent’s separation they are thousands of miles away.
daegan_tierney yessir the Appalachian Mountains begin in canada and stretch all the way down to alabama. The entire east coast of North America once shared mountains with Scotland and Ireland. They know the beginning is in Canada because the believe glaciers carved the mountain range from the north sliding all the way down to the southern coast.
Im from southern west Virginia my family is from Scotland Germany and Irish and as a kid i remember hearing some of the older people playing music like this so it feels my heart with joy and memories love it buddy keep picking those tunes
Excellent rendition. I'm from Greenville, a town in South Carolina that's in the foothills of the Appalachians. This sounds like a version I might've heard in the mountains. It's interesting -- your accent reminds me of the accents that old people have there. Not the same, but similar.
Great riff ! I could see this rendition going well on the soundtrack of a Coen Brothers movie. "The Taming of Wild Bill " ? Smashing deep voice and Scots twang !
Hey Sam, did you realise this song has the same melody as Pastures of Plenty by Woody Guthrie? It's crazy how after a while you can start to recognise these songs together.
Love the song! would like to learn it myself. But it doesn't seem to be standard banjo tuning. Would you mind sharing the the tuning? or if someone else knows.. please.
It feels full circle.
A Scott singing traditional American music which was influenced by Scottish immigrants.
Across the sea and back again
I almost wrote the same thing but you worded it better :)
In a sense millions of years ago the Appalachian Mountains were part of Ireland and Scotland so in a way we are brothers by the land
Well, that and the people who migrated to the Appalachian’s were also Irish and Scottish immigrants…. So yea
I show all my friends your music I want to make you big and famous. You've got a great talent and voice for what you do.
Your music makes me think of my dad. I know this song and Cattle Call because my dad and I watched a lot of westerns ( he mostly watched while I passed out).
From Appalachia music was brought to the mountains from England,Germany,Scotland,Ireland glad to see it being played in Scotland sounds good

They’ll know the name
I hope this is nothing prophetic, but my name actually happens to be Wild Bill Jones, first middle and last. Of course I tend to go by William
when is this on Spotify?
this is me begging
pls. I pay the damn bill
Anyone got tabs for this?
All I wanna know is that one slide. I can play it straight with bends. How do?
slide from 3rd string 2nd fret to 4th fret, then pluck strings 5 4 then 3 open , then bend on the 3rd string
I like Frank Proffitt doing this song, but this is great.. Love to play it on my own banjer.
what tuning is this song in?
Seriously just rip the audio from this video because it's fantastic!
Appreciative West Virginian here - more appreciative if I could see your hands to pick out the notes.
What happened to ye? After tomorrow that is.
