- One of the most sought after fish in our local waters, the elusive White Steenbras/Pignose Grunter.
A beautifull fish that patrolls the sand banks, that's usually where you can find them, lthough it's more of a Winter specie to, they still stick around throughout the year.
They like calmer water, and they don't really mind cooler and cleaner water, that's normally when the Galjoen and Kob dissapear. Probably the most important factor is water formation, the roll of the white water over these banks.
Today we caught two decent size Steenies of 65 and 62cm.
Corrie has been after a size Steenbras for some time now. I have landed a few next to him and i could see in his eyes this is what he want's. He came close before landing Steenbras up to 56cm and a few Sandsharks, Spotties and eagle ray's that we though it could be it...
but finally today his dream came true,
what an amazing memory we can share with you and great was the reward for all those kilometers walked and days we fell short.
I've heard a few fisherman say, "this is still the fish I need to catch" and the thing is, it's quite a risk to target them because Steenbras fishing is a bit slower that Galjoen fishing if you compare the bites.. but the wait sometimes could be worth it.
I've put together a video that could hopefully help you target these fish, take a chance, walk the walk and work the right bank.. you never know, they might be waiting for you.

@@saltaholic5235 No we don’t get blood worm. We do get Tape worm, cracker (small type sand prawn) and we get Sea Lise. Anglers use these baits for Steenbras on this side of the world. They also known to take Sardine and Pink Prawn bait as well.

Great stuff those are perfect eating size fish. Just a suggestion since Corrie has his own channel is it possible for you guys to separate your videos the reason I'm saying this is go back to most of your videos it's like watching a repeat. Becomes boring there's no excitement to watch the next persons video if you watched one. Just my honest opinion. Be safe and God bless 🙏
What can i do, he also wants to post a video on his channel and i need to edit it for him...i knew this was going to be a problem from the start but he enjoys it and he's very proud of his channel
Yes I also enjoy his channel but watch some of Hey Skipper he records with a few u Tubers but doesn't post there fish or hook ups only what he and his wife catches goes on his channel. Try it. Worth a shot. But if it can't be done then we will still watch both I luv what you guys do 👌👍🙏
