Fishing Walker Bay | How to catch Steenbras

Fishing Hermanus Plaat always leaves us satisfied with some good fishing. I took some of my buddies there to experience plaat fishing and Frikkie managed to land his first Steenbras.

Hi. Great video. However, you are not doing the fish any favours by dragging it on the sand like that if you are going to release it. Do some investigation and you will see why. Also, it's the first time I see a fish bleed like that after the tag was put in.

Thanks man. Yeah, I am well aware of the impact of dragging the fish on the sand but sometimes the excitement of the moment overpowers logic and we tend to make mistakes here and there. With regards to the bleeding of the fish, the tag most likely hit a vein causing it to bleed like that. Its not the first time that I see that happening, so it might be a good idea for me to do some research and see if there is any harm done to the fish because of that.

Hi, There are signs up there indicating the fishing trails with directions and everything which are only accessed via 4x4 which requires you to drive over the dunes. There are no signs indicating that no off roading is allowed.
