    Thank you so much for your efforts in producing this film. You have saved me from the flies, crocs, snakes, corrugations, fuel costs and vehicle damage for all time. Whenever I feel the urge to travel this route, I will snuggle up on the couch and re-run you adventure. Best wishes to you both.

      Hi Tim - lol! Yes there are definitely flies crocs and snakes.... but thats part of the adventure. When I am too old to have adventures I also will snuggle up on the couch and watch my vids but I will be remembering the awesome adventures and how fortunate I have been to experience them. All the best to you too 😄👍

    Hello!
    I am Paraguayan, 47 years old, I live here in Asuncion, Paraguay. I am passionate about Australia and camping. My dream is to know one day that wonderful country. I really like your videos, and that region of Gibb River Rd in Kimberley I would love to see too. Last year I bought a handy Atlas from Hema Maps online. I hope that soon I can go to Australia to visit those wonderful places. I wish you many successes! Greetings from Paraguay!

    With a smile as big as yours and beautiful commentary and amazing video, nothing can break your spirits. You have presented the Gibb river road as I have never seen it before. Life can be short, so I always say live it to its fullest never wasting a day. To both you beautiful people I wish a peaceful safe journey always. To the two beautiful friends who helped you guys out, I say thank you for your kind hearts and I noticed your very big smiles as well. Its not your destination that’s important but your journey and experiences along the way. Till we see your next video keep smiling and laughing and jumping off rocks into swimming wholes as your adventure continues. Thank you both for sharing your adventures.

    Nice clip on the Gibb. I did my own variation on the Big Lap many years ago, hitchhiking right round Australia - started out somewhat by accident, then decided to specifically complete the circuit by thumb.
    I've been living in the USA since 2000 and am hoping to retire home soon, at which point I want to head off with a camping trailer and tackle the major outback tracks, as well as a hike of the Heysen trail, before I settle down. Seeing clips like this makes me want to get home all the sooner! Shame about the damage, but you managed to get through it.
    Best of luck

    OMG ! I Feel so sorry for you guys. You have a good car and a good Van which I have only heard good things about, but things do happen. Your trip will help many when they see this Video, Travelling with another couple on rough roads in no mans land is so helpfull. 2 heads are all ways better than 1. And the other Van with the water tank nearly fallen off, Hard to travel with no water! As I've said before we are a year or two off from following your journey. I wish you all the best and carn't wait to see the outcome of your van. GL.

    Oh Jackie & Kerry such a great video just love them. We did our trip in 2013 and traveled the same way. When we got to Manning gorge I did my checks on the van and found a hairline fracture in a weld on one of the suspension hangers. With my 15 year old son we walked around the campsite and looked for someone with a setup that looked like they would have an electric welder. And what do you know the 1st person I asked had a welder, he also had a Honda generator the same as mine and he also had the joining cables, we were able to fix the issue and were able to continue our trip. I would have to assume that it got all fixed hope that it all was covered. We have also got the NRMA premium package it’s good to know they covered you out on the Gibb. For our family the Gibb has been the most memorable of all. Just love following your adventure, you have been on the road for over 12 months now.. God bless and stay safe.

    • @travelthecountry-aussieadv1730
      @travelthecountry-aussieadv1730  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks so much Sean. Yes the Gibb is such a great adventure - but it can bring its problems. It’s also one of those great things about the outback that people come together and help whenever they can. And the support of friends can’t be overstated. The NRMA Premium Care covered us out there but some of their red tape nearly got in the way. Tip: We should have contacted Roadside Assist before putting in our insurance claim. We’ll update on the van in our next vid 😊🤙

    We have travelled the Gibb River Road twice now and after our 1st trip we only had 2 flat tyres in 2013 and again in 2016 with no problems with our 4.5t rated off road air suspension van. I admire your sense of adventure attempting the Gibb with a Goldstream which is mainly a blacktop van. We wish you all the best in the future and it was a delight to revisit all the sights. We nearly did the Kalumburu road but were advised by a traveller in a 4WD that the road had not been graded and advised against it.

    • @travelthecountry-aussieadv1730
      @travelthecountry-aussieadv1730  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Rattenfanger, glad you enjoyed re visiting the Gibb. Sounds like you were more fortunate than us. We also heard that the Kalumbaru Rd was the worst part of the Gibb which weighed heavily in our decision not to take it on. Our van does happen to be a full off-road van though - but it still takes a sense of adventure to do the trip. So glad we did - even with our troubles 😄

      Hi Ben and Renee, Thanks for your comments and concern. We are so glad you have been enjoying the vids. The update on the chassis is coming real soon 👍. All the best with your Landcruiser build - what an exciting time for you! I use a Go Pro 8 and also a DJI Osmo Action (very similar to the Go Pro). The drone is a DJI Mavic Air 2 - and I love it. It's got great battery life and can withstand winds up to about 38 km/h. And when your in the West - wind resistance is a good thing to have 🤙 😄

    Thanks for another fantastic video and we love your attitude to such hardships. I am surprised the mechanical/tyre repair shop could not effect a temporary repair so you could tow the van to Derby. Prep the break area for a full penetration weld then a reinforcing plate welded over the top or even on edge to act as a beam. Those vicious corrigation will fatigue all metal structures, I think the key is to go slow and steady, even if that is madeningly boring. Good luck with the outcome so you can finish your trip.

    • @travelthecountry-aussieadv1730
      @travelthecountry-aussieadv1730  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Robert! We appreciate your good wishes. It was a day we won't forget in a hurry. Neville from Over The Range would have got us going with a temporary repair but once we'd contacted the Ins company it just meant we'd be paying for something twice. At that point we decided to go with the Ins claim and our road side assist to get the van into town without further worries about if it would make it. If we hadn't had the cover we had I think we could have made different decisions. 🤙😄
