My very first ebook reader was way back in about 1999 called the NuvoMedia Rocketbook and it was a big chunky thing that came with a charger cradle if I remember correctly. There were almost no books available at that time for download other than classics and lesser known authors and everyone was saying ebook readers would probably never grow popular. Boy were they wrong! I love seeing your video of older e-readers. Glad you'll be getting a working one soon, so nice of that person!
It sucks that so much retro tech just does not work/is not supported anymore. And honestly, I wish they made modern devices with keyboards still! When I was a kid I thought BlackBerrys were the coolest thing but once I was actually old enough to have a cellphone, they were already a thing of the past 😩 but I love that you still shine a light on 2000s/ early 2010s tech!
I LOOOVVVVVVEDDDD my 2nd gen Kindle and was sad when it died. Loved the keyboard. I had a hot pink one-piece cover for it. Loved it sooo much. It replaced my first-gen Kindle. (I'm old. LOL) I've been using my 3rd gen Kindle Paperwhite since 2013 and it works just fine. I *am* tempted by the latest gen Paperwhite Signature...
I like what you’re doing here… I had a first gen kindle… it was I think about $600.00 but I got it for free from my aunt… she bought it and never used it… I still have it and use it! Thanks for the video!
My first Ereader was the first kindle fire my senior year in high school. I got it for Christmas in 2012 and I liked it but my parents never gave me money for it so it wasn’t really used much Then in 2020 I got a kindle fire 10th generation and I still have it and absolutely love it! My husband says in the next year or two I can get a newer model! I absolutely love reading on it and watching shows on.
Great vid. Bums the kindle was broken but it might cost the same or more for a screen. Might want to see if you can just find another one. I see them on Mercari too, so I’m sure another one will get listed soon if they don’t have anything now. Thanks for taking me back in time.😊
My first ereader was the kindle keyboard i miss it and now i wanna buy another one!! My mammaw actually bought it for me as a present since she was tired of my bedroom being full of physical books. I regret selling it and now wanna buy a new one maybe i will soon.
thats the first kindle i had i ended up gifting it to my best friend one year for christmas so she could have something portable to read on and i think i had some type of tablet at that time.
I’m not sure if you have said before but if you don’t have a 4th generation kindle I can mail one to you. I found it in my moms basement and I’m not sure who’s it was but if you’re interested I could mail it to your P.O. Box

Early 2000's tech was amazing! I miss that era of technology so much, I loveeee keyboards !
Yeah I miss when a new version of something didn’t come out unless it was innovative
