- We were stopped by the Texas Game Warden during our crappie fishing trip on the Brazos river. I have to say this was one of the nicest game warden I have ever met. Huge thank you to this warden for taking the extra time to double check for Ken's license.

I saw the dnr hiding one day i held my license up from over a mile across the water and he told me my name from waaaaayyy over there good luck ken sorry for the hold up because that's all it was just a hold up 💪🔥🎣
Not long ago my brother and I took a trip to a lake in wisconsin, that we spent summers on as kids. Passing through Milwaukee we got passed by an Emerald Green Cadillac, driving like a hat out of hell when we got to the worst traffic trap in wisconsin, ( the Fond Du Lac state police barracks on highway 45 ) we saw that the troopers, had seven cars pulled over for violations, and the green caddie was number one, when we reached the motel we were going to be staying at, who should arrive while we were checking in? You got it the driver of the caddie! The next day, we were out on the lake and were checked by the game wardens after they were through with us, we watched while the wardens checked another boat nearby, and began confiscating all of the occupants, fishing gear, we were out of bait so we headed back to the motel for more, while my brother and I were in the bait shop, a cousin of ours that we hadn't seen in years came in and we were playing family catch up for a while, while we did so Mr caddie walked in and began to purchase all new rods, reels, and tackle, as well as a fishing license, all the while complaining about how Wisconsin law enforcement officers picked on Illinois residents! It turned out that he and his buddies had neglected to purchase fishing licenses to begin with and because, they hadn't all of their gear was confiscated as elements of the offense, my brother and I stood there, near bursting with suppressed laughter until the jerk and his buddies left, then we can hear died! My cousin asked what was so funny, and we told him, the whole story! My cousin is the grandson, of the retired local Chief of police, and he laughed as hard as we did at the arrogance of the jerk and his buddies, coming from out of state, breaking just about every law you can think of, and then complaining, when they got caught!
I don’t understand why there’s multiple comments on the game warden boarding his boat?.. there out there to make sure everyone is following the rules and staying safe. Looked like a good day of fishing. And that livescope, game changer.

Man. We just pulled over ourselves yesterday. We were compliant but it does make you release to keep all stuff readily available including licenses. I take pics of all my stuff and keep on drop box.
been stopped a couple of time in different situation, i just keep a list and checking everything before going out the door. ive even been asked in the past for a receipt for a 15yo pedal bike i was riding around.
I took a pic of my license right after the warden left. I'm going to do that with all my other state licenses from now on. I hear you're boat flipping some big crappie on Egypt?!

I'm nearly 60 years old and I've been fishing on the Pacific Ocean since the age of 5. Never once has anyone ever checked me for safety or license.
I've had on the water safety checks atleast a half dozen times. But they mostly occur on rivers (I fish the St. Croix and Mississippi rivers near Wisconsin and Minnesota)
I think Game and Fish, and various Law Enforcement, are more intense when it comes to being inland, but I've also fished creeks, rivers, and lakes, and never been checked. All of my fishing has been out West and I think they may be a little more lax out here.
@@laughtoohard9655 Fish and Game Wardends mainly concentrate on smaller bodies of water, smaller lakes, ponds, creeks and small river systems. Water systems that eather are controled stocked by the state or ones that contain trout or salmon that has a catch limit.
That's likely true, but even in the US I've never been approached. Perhaps I look honest.

I did that one time. Bought my licence but forgot my trout stamp. Got a $150 fine. Crazy.

i was fishing on a pier, got stopped 3time in 1week by 2different team of warden. one time they were two guys and encircle me while one searched my backpack for 10mins going tru my toilet paper and everything. then he looked at my permit with his eye for a good 2min just staring at it.
sometime they just get an idea in their head and they cant believe your not going what they thought you were doing.

"they searched my things" its not illegal. what bothers me the most is that since they built somekind of rich house condominium or something near, the cops and game warden keep harassing people in the area. i fish all around almost every week, even each day sometimes, but i have never seen a game warden except in this one spot. its a public park with a 500ft long pier that was used a hundred years ago to haul wood across the lake.
it looks to me that they clearly have an agenda to keep the "poor" people away from that place.

I do believe in Michigan your drivers license let them know you have your license if you forget or loose it
Most times, you comply with their inspection, there's no problems... just like policemen and state troopers. They're always a bad apple or two in any congregation, but most are nice. It's been my experience that to respect their authority and they will respect you.

Well game wardens have more power then normal police, there authority is so great they can search ur stuff without ur consent.
My Uncle used to be a Game Warden. He told me it's best if your put your Fishing Lience in a clear water tight plastic card holder and hang it around your neck or clip it on you somewhere were its visible. He said when he see's that he know the person has a lience and does not have to stop them from fishing. Most of the time he said he would just wave and move on to someone who does'nt have it displayed in the open..

I often fish out of a small Jon (they seem to attract attention) and keep my life jackets over the seat backs and the fire extinguisher mounted where it can be seen easily. This seems to keep the inspections/warrantless searches to a minimum. :)
You don't need a licence for something you have a right to do. Gov taking a right and selling it back as a privilege

The warden was able to pull up Ken's license on the system. Otherwise, he would have wrote the ticket. Thankfully he had service!

What is a fishing license= nothing but a permission slip ! I thought the King was dead, help abolish the recreational fishing licenses permission slips we all have an inherent inalienable right to fish
We buy our licenses on line and we keep it on our phones.
I took a picture of my license as soon as the warden left. Always good to have a copy.

If you're referring to livescope as the trick we show the game warden, there is way to much money in the fishing electronics industry for it to ever be banned. Humminbird, garmin, lowrance and any other fishing companies would be lobbying hard to maintain legality of their products.
