Thank you for whoever put this up. I was a trumpet player in this band from 2001-2004. I still remember this show like it was yesterday. It brings back so many memories. The horn line at the end sent chills up my spine then and it still does 5 years later. Best season ever.

      A. Watkins was truly the primary reason for the Lassiter band's success back then. As a director, he was and still is to this day admired for all of his accomplishments. He definitely was a hard ass when he needed to be and would have us run the show 5-6 times a night trying to make it as perfect as possible. I was in this show and can honestly say without that man, we wouldn't have even been a part of this competition.

I have never seen or heard a band achieve this level of cleanliness with the difficulty of this drill. In recent years bands have been oversimplifying the drill in order to be clean, which is just wrong. Definitely not the hardest show, but the best executed hard show. Great job Lassiter! No special microphones for the horns. You'll notice when they first pick up their horns, they are facing the front, so the sound is going back. Toward the end, they move up to the front sideline and turn to the side, with bells up - so the sound is going straight toward the audience. Lassiter did not set up special mikes for the horns.

Yeah. This is my second year in the Lassiter program. That there comes from the 10+ hours a week of practice. That, on top of having a great staff. This year we're dealing with a lot of new staff members and a sizable 9th grade class, and the music this year is incredible. This year's show is called "Tonight" and is based around Bernstein's West Side Story. We'll be performing at the BOA Regional at Hofstra University in New York City.

god it's like non-stop sound compared to 2001 - even though they used a lot of the same music, the small differences in the closer make such a huge positive impact on the overall general effect. making the horns play non-stop helps the sound here, rather than having these glaringly obvious gaps. It just has 1000% more excitement than the year before design-wise.

I agree because so far there has been no high school marching band in the state of Alabama that has gone to BOA this is due to a lack of funding. Also schools that are able to perticipate in BOA function come from schools that are well funded by there on school's band booster parents. Last your band directer plays a very important role in the marching band's growth.

I know nothing of your program, so take nothing personally, but "difficult" is an extremely relative term. In past years the term has been redefined to what it is now. In my opinion a hard show consists of mainly no-linear drill formations, fewer files, constant playing while marching, a complicated musical score, extreme tempos (190-216) with controlled technique, perhaps multimeter marching, and still maintaining a level of creativity and art. through choreography, props, both, etc.

Actually, you're 4 years off. In 2002, there was only 1 band, and the band was around 270. Which granted, is still huge, but not as big as the 2 bands of the past might have been.
In this show, I was one of about 60 freshman marching. There are certainly a ton of upper classmen, but about an equal number sophomores and freshmen.
