This album is fucking insane. I didn't expect a 80 minute progressive djent thall ambient monster of an album to be so engaging. Can't stop listening!
To me this album is an absolute 10/10. This shit is so sludgy and fucking brutal as hell. I've never heard anything remotely close to this album.

I love how this song is kinda like a mashup of the riffs from their first album but taken to a whole new level.

The first time i heard it i was like "yooo, this riff is from that song, and this from that, holy fuck!"
I'm pretty sure the song they took licks from was Dagger. Correct me if I'm wrong. Either way, it made me happy when I heard those licks.

Love how they took all the best riffs from Måsstaden and made one supersong of it. Imagine when they do the same for this album in ten years
In my opinion djent is groovy, fun to play with (usually dreamy)open space ambience, while thall is based on momentum and impact, with an eerie and dark open space ambience. Both are quite complex, but while djent is controlled, thall will usually catch you off guard.

That's a good definition. I always seen THALL as Djent fused with Avant garde metal (bands like ulcerate, ad nauseam, and deathspell omega)

I agree. There were a lot of great albums in 2021. Spiritbox, Whitechapel, and Sleep Token who are my favorite band, but this one is definitely the best of them.
The songs that they remixed old riffs from were Shadow, Dagger, Traces, Phobon Nika, Masstadens Nationalsång, All these feelings, Nojja, and Deceit.

If anyone’s wondering the “tweety bird” technique is done by pulling the high e string down around the bottom of the fret and picking
In the case of this guitarist who plays upside down it’s up around the fret
I was wondering that, cause it didn't *quite* sound like a typical volume cut, but I had such a bad habit of pulling the high e off the side when I started playing that using it on purpose would never have crossed my mind

This song ends like Forrest Gump's run, suddenly and unexpected. And while everybody is waiting and speculating some real reason or great meaning behind it all, the song is just like: "I'm pretty tired... I think I'll go home now."

I SAID IT! 😈 but I have to correct Dan, Busters main band is Humanity’s Last Breath, Vildjharta would be his side project that he’s kinda helping out with because those guys brought him on but I digress because Humanity’s Last Breath is absolutely amazing, they don’t get as much praise right now as they should but their up there with Vildjhartas, Tools, Meshuggah, Tesseracts etc etc

5:50 he isn't that far off lol, according to some interpretations, at that point of the song, the main character is in the end of it's journey back to måsstadens to find the "umbrella lady" which was his lover in the first album. At the end of the first album he had to leave måsstadens, and left the umbrella lady there. Also in the first album, one interpretation I saw was this song was played at a wedding at måsstadens, which involves the umbrella lady and the tyrant.

During the podcast with Buster, Nik was taught how to properly pronounce it but you have to remember Nik has many skills but speaking isn't one of them.

Quick thing, this isn't the first thing they've dropped in 10 years, it's the first album they've dropped in 10 years but there was an EP a year or two after the first album. Anyways ive loved vildjharta since the first album and i fucking love this song for taking a 40 second instrumental from the first album and turning it into a fully fleshed out reprise which goes kinda way harder than the original

ive always thought thall is to djent what downtempo is to deathcore similar sounds just slower but just as wild and a bit more menacingly violent sounding with just a bit of ambient
As a scandinavian It’s hilarious to hear you pronounce vildhjärta lmao
He might be onto the sitar influence. They can have up to 30 strings, with a max of around 9 actually being playable. The other strings are there simply to resonate with the notes being played, and it seems Vildhjarta has always loved to play around with the constructive/deconstructive interference of playing different consonant/dissonant phrases. It’s similar to what you see a lot of black metal bands like Deathspell Omega, Svartidauði, and Yellow Eyes doing, though I think they’re more inspired by how harmonically chaotic black metal already is
