Wemby said in an interview that after that game, he called the former teammate and told him the second guy now owed him money. ;)

I think with Barnes and Paul mentoring their younger guys, by the time they hang ‘em up and the Spurs get another big draft selection or free agency signing (though it sounds like their plan is to draft stars like OKC) they’ll be winning the west from 28-33 easy. It will be known as the battle between Shai/Chets Thunder and the Wemby/Castle Spurs and it’s gonna be all over our tv’s provided they stay the course and stay healthy.
Yeah, they were already pretty close to losing this year. Without Curry, they would have lost in the semis, and would have been in a very tight fight in the finals. But Curry would be 40 in 2028, so very likely no longer there. Same for Lebron, Durant (would be 39). Embiid already said he might play for another country, the man is just a mercenary who wanted one gold medal in his trophy case... Maybe Anthony Davis would still be there (35), apart from him it will only be younger players, with likely Anthony Edwards at the lead. Nowhere near the same level of experience as the 2024 team.

If Atlanta doesn't make the playoffs, they've got another lottery pick. The Bulls top 10 protected and Charlotte's top 14 protected. There's a reasonable chance that next year they're pairing Wemby with one or more of Flagg, Edgecombe, Bailey, Harper, or others. If one or both of those picks convey, they'll have serious trade value. What could you trade for if you have four picks in what is generally considered the most loaded draft in decades? You could literally have a starting frontcourt of Wemby, Sochan, and Flagg or Bailey next year. Or, you could have a starting backcourt of Castle and Edgecombe. In two or three years, the Spurs could be monsters, if things go right for them.
Spurs lost like 20 games by 6 or more points. They lost 20 games when going into the 4Q with a lead. If healthy, therefore, then with a better 4Q defense (VW-Sochan-Castle), and better 4Q offense (VW-CP3-Barnes and a player TBD), the Spurs win 45+ games. N.B. If that player TBD is an all-star type, then expect the Spurs to be not a play-in team but a 6th seed. AND, get this, the Spurs are still in the Cooper Flagg lottery b/c we have the Hawks #1 pick in 2025 draft. I don't believe the Hawks will make the playoffs this coming season.
You cànt compare an era when teams scored 92 points a game and now with 134 a game. Of course trhey score more . There cant defend anymore. The can travel all they want....
Wemby put up the highest production per minute of anyone to ever win the RoTY. At this point it's not glazing, it's a question of where the ceiling is.
sochan is an important part of our team and I think he will still be important to our future dynasty. He brings great defense and energy. We can get great offense from other players we don't need him to average 20
Sochan is a stud. He was put on the toughest defensive assignments and was well above average, no one on that team right now is in their primes. They will shock so many people this year.
