I enjoyed your video of the smallest towns in Florida. I lived in the town of Bay Lake in the 70s. There are actually residential homes on the east shore of Bay Lake ( the lake that the Contemporary hotel is on) the residents are in Disney management, which my father was in Disney management. My father-in-law was the mayor for years. It was an awesome place to grow up.
I've lived in the Midwest for years, but Florida is my home state! I miss it all the time and look forward to moving back one day! But, of all the years I lived down there, I've only ever heard of Horseshoe Beach and Lake Buena Vista. I never knew or heard about the rest of them. Good luck I hope you are able to return. Many natives are being forced out because so many out of state people are moving here and raising the cost of housing.
I gotta admit, I'm surprised. I never thought FL had "small towns!" Horseshoe Beach is incredible. Almost everything is on stilts. Marineland is just down the road from where my youngest is stationed, NAS Jacksonville. Did you see any planes flying in and out? Great video. I like a couple of those small towns that are situated away from the big cities. Nice little communities.

Darlene, I have often seen the sign that said Otter Creek while traveling on US Highway 19 going south. How far is Otter Creek from Hwy 19 ? How far from Horseshoe Beach ?
@sharlynebeach2786 when u come to the blinking light on 19, ur in OC, depending on which way ur traveling to get u to the middle of OC. Where would u be coming from?
All new construction must be raised 12 to 15’ from ground level. Parts of the town flood during ‘King’ high tides and sometimes a westerly breeze pushes the water up the inlets.

@@JohnnyK60 I can agree with you on that one. I moved away from South Florida before west coast of south Florida began to be really populated. Just south of marineland on A1A there's a little community you might say of Beverly Beach It does have a City Hall building about as large as a one-bedroom apartment it seems to me it would be incorporated but I don't know
I think I like Bascom as well with Horseshoe Beach second. I was surprised that there is a place like Horseshoe Beach on the water in Florida that isn't overly populated. It's practically isolated.
Cool, I used to walk the Bellaire shores beach at night and most of it was vacant - I’d access it from the town access of bellair and walk but it amazed me how dark it was - sea turtles nest there and coastal erosion is a problem - John travolta was the most famous owner we know of in that area 😊
The small or smallest town of anything were considered bunkers, or barricades, or barracks, or hidouts. If anything, it was to hide weapons or banking storage.
1st town, Horseshoe Beach. Lost much of their population the last 30 yrs. Unsure, but many move out of the town limits, when the town/city acts too much like an HMO, or taxes get to high
Bascom looked like my kinda place. I can't believe you didn't video a few gators. Wife wants to move to Ocala, guess when we get there I'll get on the hawg and go visit Bascom

So I'm not as familiar with it, but it wasn't popular with my Cuban friends since it was mostly swampy and little city area. Mind you that was some 30 years ago. I still have family and visit south east Florida though.
Also like the drone pictures great job..👍🙏🙂
Thank you so much 😀
New to this channel. Love your channel. I like the music to this video. Bascom, Florida seems like a quaint little town. If I lived in Bascom Florida I'd definitely attend the Methodist Church.
Thank you very much! 😊
Thank you
Just south of marineland on A1A there's a little community you might say of Beverly Beach It does have a City Hall building about as large as a one-bedroom apartment it seems to me it would be incorporated but I don't know
It has a population of 474 so a little too large for this video. I drove through it on my way to Marineland 😊
Weeki wachee (unincorporated) population 16 (2020 census)
Yep! Being unincorporated is why it’s not in the video.
I saw Ryan Howard’s house being built from Gulf Blvd in 2013-2014.
I think I like Bascom as well with Horseshoe Beach second. I was surprised that there is a place like Horseshoe Beach on the water in Florida that isn't overly populated. It's practically isolated.
It’s pretty far down the way so you have to take a trip to get there. Would be fun for the weekends for sure!
I grew up 8n Copeland, Florida and went to scool in Everglades City which has a population of 500.
Interesting/informative/entertaining.
Cool, I used to walk the Bellaire shores beach at night and most of it was vacant - I’d access it from the town access of bellair and walk but it amazed me how dark it was - sea turtles nest there and coastal erosion is a problem - John travolta was the most famous owner we know of in that area 😊
Cedar Key is one of my favorite. Webster is a small town, I love the old Flea Market here. It is old, and really big. Open on Mondays.
I kept expecting you to visit Boca Vista, where the Seinfelds retired.
That would've been awesome haha - especially if Kramer was still on the board :)
The small or smallest town of anything were considered bunkers, or barricades, or barracks, or hidouts. If anything, it was to hide weapons or banking storage.
I live right across Indian Creek with unobstructed views of the golf course on the water!!
Oh wow what a view!
I was looking for them but I guess they hibernated for the winter!
The outskirts of ocala are nice especially north and east where you have a lot of rolling hills
Great video Coach BUT you forgot to mention about the devastation that happened at horseshoe Beach when hurricane Idalia went through there in September 2023
Thank you - you might have missed it, but I showed a photo of that during the video of Horshore Beach around the 2:00 mark.
Hurricane Idalia kicked a bunch of small towns (and counties) butts. But we are resilient and getting back to normal. (Madison county Florida here).
Yay ty John once again! Unexpected 😂 I go to horseshoe beach during summer and am this summer! Beautiful town and John, thank you so much brother!💙🩵
Thank you for watching!
@@TravelwithaWiseguy No problem bro! That was so unexpected lol! What was your favorite town? Horseshoe beach is my personal favorite
@@TravelwithaWiseguy John what was your favorite town???
Hard to say between Horseshoe Beach, Bascom, and Marineland.
Very interesting. Love history. 😊
Thanks for watching!
Enjoyed this... Been thinking of relocating from NC to fla but the high population is not for me but this has been very interesting so thank you...
The northern part of Florida is definitely different from much of the rest of the state!
@@TravelwithaWiseguyyou've definitely got me thinking... definitely
Inglis is a nice small town. Lake butler, glen st. Marys.
The town of Picnic is very tiny. Also Ona in Hardee county is small. As well as Buchanan, Brownsville, Gardener. There are tons of very small towns in florida. Some like Limestone only have a population less than 25.
Lived in PBC for years. Never heard of cloud lake. Lol. Who knew
My daughter's fastpitch softball tournament led me to the Panhandle of Florida decades ago. In my opinion, that area beat anything you saw on your trip. Of course, today it may be altogether different. Progress?
I did a couple videos on Liberty County (in the panhandle) and it was a very beautiful and interesting area!
We love your video, can you tell me what are the maps you show...thanks for the info
Thank you! For most videos I use the Delorme Atlas & Gazetteer for each state.
Lamont used to have a store. Mr.Reeves owed it and lived across the road that was 1966.
I watched your video because I recognized the thumbnail i drive past it every day
I hit like button ✅ everybody thanks 👍 for sharing and I suscribed
Awesome thank you!
