Does the color of the water change with the seasons or months? We were in Destin at Silver Shells in October two years ago and the water did not look like all the pictures and videos here and online....we are going in 3 weeks, August 19 - Sept 3....hope the weather is good since it will be hurricane season and I hope we can see beautiful water this time!
@@JEFFQUICKLE9 I’ve visited numerous times over the past 20 years, from early spring to late summer and always welcomed by the emerald waters. Only time it’s close to different was after a storm, that’s just my experiences.
My family has been spending our summer vacation in Destin for over 40 years. We've seen it change for both the good and bad. That said, I still look forward to our yearly beach trip as much as I did back when I was a kid. We've made life-long friends and had so many great memories. I can't wait to return next July.

@@Gabu-San It's just so much more crowded than it used to be. The traffic on Highway 90 is a nightmare, particularly in the evening when everybody is headed out to dinner. That said, it's still a great place and it wouldn't be summer vacation without our annual beach trip.

I spent the Summer and early Fall of 2010 in Destin due to being enlisted in the Coast Guard at the time, responding to the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. I spent many days driving along the beaches and going out on some of the local charter boats, most notably the "Perfect Shot." I wonder if Brady Bowman is still her Captain. A truly Great guy! As a native of Massachusetts, who had never experienced white sand beaches and crystal clear ocean water prior to my time in Destin, I still consider that Summer to be one of the best of my life. I need to make it down there again someday. It's still as beautiful as I remember. The Coast Guard Station on route 98, right next to Crab Island, is very appropriately nicknamed "Station Vacation!" The video was excellent and brought back many great memories. Thank you!
I'm curious how bad that spill was in this area, and did they put corexit in it? My sister has been in the Coast guard for about 30 years and she advised advised it and they did it anyway. Unseen poison. She is a commander
This was fantastic. You really went all out. Footage from bike, foot, car, boat, and even a helicopter now! Video is so nicely filmed and edited. And filled with so much info. Great job! The Destin area looks so fun. I had no idea.

I've Lived in Destin-Ft Walton Bch area for 35 yrs.
Biggest problem in Destin is traffic.
One road in, one road out.
Be prepared to take an hour to go 10 miles during peak tourist season.
We certainly welcome tourists here, but our hotels, bars, and restaurants are understaffed, so be patient, and leave our pristine beaches as you found them.

Just got back from my first visit to Destin!! Absolutely beautiful!! The beach and water are unlike any I have seen here in the States. The area is pricey but well worth it. Thank you for this video, I can see that we missed out on some fun activities but hope to return there again soon.
Thankyou, yep you are evidence of what I said at end of video, alot of people choose to return. True when its sunny that water color is incredible. Its also similar in SouthEast Florida too on the Gold Coast.

My family won a week stay at the Destin harborwalk. It was so beautiful. Love the boat and accompanying dolfins that would take us to private beach where u could see the fish by these rocks. Snorkel guide pulled up amazing puffer fish for us to see. Would love to go back.

You did a great job in showcasing the area. I've lived in Fort Walton for about 5 years now and in all that time I've avoided Destin as much as possible due to the traffic. I normally just go to Navarre Beach because it's less of a hassle.

I really liked the area between Navarre and Pensacola Beach, 20 miles of no development and plus there's good kayaking on the back bay. I used to live near Gulf Shores, Alabama but I was on those beaches way more than Gulf Shores. I miss that area.

We are heading to Dustin in a couple of weeks and we found that getting a VRBO well in advance was the same price if not less expensive than some of these older hotels. Our resort/condo is literally on the beach, a private beach with chairs and umbrellas set up for you every morning. go ahead and start looking months and months in advance. If you can, it will save you in the long run. This was a great video, this will be my third visit to Destin and my husband’s first visit. This is very helpful for our trip.

maybe you should consider red tide, e coli quantity and the shark numbers pools are in the hotels for a good reason
We spend a week in August at Panama City Beach. 2 years ago I went into Destin taking photos with vintage film cameras. Plan on doing it again this year.
We are headed to Destin in August for a family trip. This was a great vlog to help us know what to do.

I lived in Destin in the early 1980's; actually got married in the Presbyterian Church there. It was so laid back and beautiful. I was there when Seaside was first being developed.
I do not recognize anything there anymore! Looks fun though.

I like destin and fort Walton because it’s family friendly and for spring break the crowd is usually of the older variety it’s a lot calmer then that of PCB
