What’s your favorite place in Florida? Do you already live in Florida, or are are thinking about moving to Florida? If so, where are you thinking about moving? Why do you think Florida is a great place to live? Let me know your thoughts!
Being in the tech industry, I've lived in many areas of Florida since 1992 including Tampa, Orlando, and West Palm Beach. I'm in Sarasota County now and it is by far my favorite place to live in Florida. Much less traffic than the bigger cities. This was a very informative video. Thank you!
Thanks for your comment! I agree that Sarasota is an an awesome area! Glad to hear it's your favorite place to live in Florida. Thanks for watching and thanks for you kind words!
I'm a Florida resident for 30 years. Lots of sunshine, plenty of restaurants to dine, grocery stores to buy produce in addition to Farmer's market and beautiful beaches to relax and enjoy. A secluded Fort Desoto beach south of St. Petersburg is one of the best place to enjoy alone, with family or enjoy the place with friends. Named best beach in the Unites States in 2006.
I think a few thing that should be referenced along with the average home price is the average home owners insurance price along with flood insurance & the new home owners roofing policy. These are huge ticket items that can not be ignored when it comes to budgeting for living moving or retirement in Florida. Great video & truly informative
Thanks for your input! I have another video in the works that will mention the insurance issue. But perhaps a video that totally addresses the cost of homeowners insurance, including the roofing issue, as well as flood insurance would be valuable for people looking at a move to Florida. I'll put that on my list of things to work on. Thanks for commenting!
My home has been Ft Lauderdale for 25 years. In that time, I've also lived in Tallahassee, Sarasota and Tampa. I like Ft Lauderdale but it's grown quite expensive here.
Thanks for commenting! It's great to hear from somebody who's lived in Florida for so long and has experience living in different parts of the state! Yes, Ft. Lauderdale has become expensive! The cost of living there is among the highest for major cities in Florida. But it is an awesome place! Thanks for your input!
Great video and very helpful. I spent a year on and off in Fort Lauderdale and Fort Myers. Still can't decide which coast, they both have wonderful things about them. I'd love to move to Florida eventually and would like to airBNB in several places first to be sure where I'd like to be but I loved everything you said about St. Petersburg. Sunny weather is first, then the favorable cost of living and tax savings...and dog friendly is a plus! I'd also like to get a good sense of what the people are like before I make an investment. Thanks again!
Thanks for your comment, Donna! I agree. Both the east coast and west coast have great things about them. It's a very good idea to spend some time in the places you're considering. St. Petersburg is definately awesome and you should check it out! I love that area and the nearby beaches are awesome. Thanks again for your kind words and thanks for watching!
The Jacksonville area is the best place for young people, Amazing jobs, beaches are beautiful.. Plus we are surrounded by the most beautiful Ocean Islands like Amelia Island. Not crowded like other Florida areas. The Weather is perfect,, Everyone love it here, the people are happy and friendly. Still a Southern City.., I can't imagine living in Orlando, Tampa, Miami or Fort Lauderdale.
You also have to consider home prices, if you have deep pockets you can live anywhere. Unfortunately most home buyers have limited budgets, so the deciding factor is strictly home affordability.
Prices and affordability are certainly among the top things most people have to consider when it comes to deciding where to live. For sure!, Thanks for your comment!
Well Ken I have to say you do such a professional job love the video. Excellent work and by the way.I live in Cape Coral Our motto here in the cape is another day in paradise
Cape coral is one of the spots that the floods wiped out. It was cheap to live there until the floods. That just happened in twenty two. As soon as it happened guess who bought it all up. Now it's expensive to live there. I was watching the prices all along. During this time thinking of moving there.
Thanks for commenting! It's a good idea to keep an eye on areas for as long as possible if you're considering moving there. You'll learn a lot! I appreciate your input!
We live in Dunnellon off 484, about 10 minutes from 75, and roughly 40 minutes from the Villages. Florida is not expensive if one knows what to look for and do. Our mortgage is just under $800 per month, and we built in 2019. The only utilities we pay for are electric (we have solar to reduce monthly cost), phone and internet, which puts us just under $1000 per month for housing expenses. :)
Thanks so much for adding your input. You are absolutely correct. There are so many places in Florida that are not as well known, like Dunnellon, that can be a lot more affordable.!
Thanks for commenting Judy! A lot of people love living in The Villages. Like so many other places, the things are getting more expensive there. But a lot of retirees still find a lot of advantages to living in The Villages.
Love your informative video! I had planned to purchase a home in Venice near Sarasota, but home prices escalated. In August 2021 I purchased a home in Panama City about 13 miles from the beach. This town is growing considerably and I would like to move to another part of the state to a less populated area. I'm considering Pensecola, Venice or other towns near Sarasota and possibly the east coast like New Smyrna or Coa Coa Beach. What are your thoughts on Venice and East coast beach towns?
Hi Courtney! Thanks for your comment! Panama City is a beautiful area. So is Pensacola. The Venice area is awesome! I spend quite a lot of time there. Yes, prices are a lot higher than they were a few years ago. If you're looking for a less populated part of the state, you'll probably find Sarasota even more crowded. But Venice has a more small town feel. Just a little south of there is another beach town that's even less crowded. Take a look at Englewood, FL. As far as the east coast, New Smyrna Beach and Cocoa Beach will have a small town feel, and prices are more affordable than the west coast. If you'd like to, you can email me: KenTyndallRealEstate@gmail.com and I can answer any more specific questions. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for commenting! That's a great area with a lot to offer. It's not only a great place to live, but a lot of Floridians enjoy visiting there from other areas. I've had a lot of good times in Vero Beach. And you'll find some great neighborhoods there too. Thanks for your input!
Thanks for commenting! Indeed, like so many other places in Florida, it seems it was better many years ago before it got so much bigger. I think it's still an awesome place, but I agree, I liked it better when it was smaller! I appreciate your input!
Have lived in Cape Coral for 20 years... still have not found any beaches... nearest beaches are 45 min to 1 hour away on Ft Myers Beach, Sanibel, and Captiva islands. Cannot believe Naples is an add on for Cape Coral? Naples and Sarasota are the two top locations with Naples being more golf oriented and more expensive.
Good to hear from somebody who has live in Cape Coral for so many years! I really appreciate your input! Yes, there's a significant drive to the beaches. But those beaches you mention are awesome. I love Sanibel and Captiva Islands! Naples is an incredible place, but you're right, it can be quite expensive. Thanks for commenting!
Homeowners Insurance for a 500K home can be as high as 30K a year. Yes, that's 2500.00 a month. And they just raised property taxes to an insane amount too. Just insurance for your car is higher. People are being forced out of their homes, and losing everything they have in life savings trying to pay their bills. Why not talk about that? You look online and the prices for these things are not accurate. As soon as the house sells, the price for those things change dramatically. And HOA's are tripling as well.
Thanks for commenting! Yes, homeowners insurance is a big issue in Florida. I talked about that in another video: Moving to Florida: 9 Things to Know! th-cam.com/video/Sl5-QxxZ-KM/w-d-xo.html I haven't heard about insurance on a 500K home as high as 30K a year. Is that a house in a flood zone on the beach or something? But homeowners insurance has increased dramatically over the past several years. Florida lawmakers have been trying to take steps to lower insurance rates, but so far we're waiting for better results. Property taxes have also increased as overall values of properties have increased. And yes, car insurance is higher in Florida than a lot of other states. And you are correct that when a home sells, prices for other things like insurance also increase, based on the higher sales price. So, a house is valued higher and property taxes are based on the value of a home. And HOA fees can also increase. On the positive side, Florida does not have a state income tax. I appreciate your input!
Homeowners insurance is in the process of getting fixed. I don’t know what you are talking about with property taxes. By law, the assessment on your house can only go up by 3% per year. I have a house in town and a small farm up by the state line and the total property tax is less than $1200 a year for all of it.
@@johnscott2746 Thank you. How and why do you think Homeowners Insurance is going to get fixed? I doubt they are going to drop the lie about global warming. So it must be something else. Even when new companies, with better rates take over, I don't think it will last. They too will raise their prices after the next hurricane. Do you know how much homeowners insurance is in the northern region of Florida? Still higher than other states rights?
@@cannotbeshaken7889there have always been hurricanes. That’s not what caused the problem we are experiencing. What happened is the lawyers got in bed with their buddies in the legislature and made it super easy to sue an insurance company. So much so that all the lawyers had to do is write a letter to the insurance company and a check got cut the same day. The insurance companies were forced to form a fund just to pay these checks and it was driving them out of business. A lot of them left the state. Others raised their rates. Recently, at the behest of the governor, laws were passed to stop this practice. But in the week before the new law took effect over 250,000 new “suits” were filed. And we will have to wade through all of them before things get better. There is more to this debacle than I can write in this post. You should look it up for yourself if you are interested.
@@cannotbeshaken7889the entire problem is malfeasance by the government. The legislature got in bed with the lawyers and streamlined the process for filing a lawsuit against the insurance companies. It got to where all the lawyers had to do was write a demand letter and the insurance companies would cut them a check. The companies actually made a fund that everyone paid into just for that purpose. Two years ago there were over 250,000 lawsuits nationwide against insurance companies. 3% were in the other 49 states. The other 242,500 lawsuits were in Florida. So, the governor told the legislature to fix it because a lot of companies were leaving the state and the rest were jacking up their rates to try and stay in business. Now, that the laws have been changed, things will start to normalize, however! In the week before the new laws took affect, over 200,000 new lawsuits were filed. So we have to wade through those cases first.
Don't get me wrong I have lived here all my life & I love my city, Miami, and I love the State of Florida. However, it is not as paradisiacal as people make it sound. Due to the influx of people & merciless builders, Florida is super overcrowded. Take Sarasota where my son lives. Traffic there is really bad and not a day goes by without an accident on I-75. I live 10 minutes away from downtown Miami where I work, but it takes me at least 45 minutes to get home due to the traffic. Yes, it has beautiful beaches, but good luck finding affordable parking in Miami Beach. Builders & Realtors misinform people in order to make money. Do your research before moving down here folks!! The grass is not always greener on the other side.
I've lived in Sarasota for 15 years and I gotta tell ya...it's flat, crowded and expensive...fake... everything is man made...it's a hollow place for retired married couples...the heat is insane and renders you inside with the AirConditioner running all year...
I’m moving out the FL last year and welcome to someone moving in to enjoy the beaches, the hurricane, the property taxes, insurance, low pay salary and inflation to the sky rocks, don’t forget the gas prices and medical and medicine too. If you planning to buying a new house very high cost and build cheap and oldest design. Good luck to who’s moving in the FL
I’m thinking about moving to Saint Petersburg. Nice to see you ranked it number 5. I lived in Tampa when I went to USF from 1995-1997. I like that St Pete has the Rays, beaches, and arts and is close proximity to Tampa. I’ll likely want a condo: it’s just for me. Any place you’d recommend? Budget will liked be under $140k.
Thanks for commenting! I love St. Petersburg. It has changed a lot since you lived in the area in the mid '90s. I don't know that I would necessarily recommend one place area over another. I think the biggest challenge would be to find a condo in your price range. There are some places out there. And you'll need to figure into your budget the HOA fees and taxes and insurance. If you have more questions feel free to contact me directly. Best of luck!
You should probably take Cape Coral off your list. It is growing faster than imaginable and, as of 2024, no longer affordable. Traffic congestion, no beaches and rising crime makes this is bad choice. Six or seven years ago, this was a great choice…now it has a 7% higher cost of living than the national average. Housing prices and property taxes have skyrocketed while job wages continue to be very low. The window of opportunity has closed for most people.
Thank you for your input! There are a lot of places in Florida that have been losing some of their appeal because of the reasons you have listed. I appreciate your insight and thank you for commenting!
As an Aussie living in Melbourne [The Australian one] May I congratulate you kind sir on the correct pronounciation!!!! I often hear Americans call it MEL-BORN
❤wow awesome ;and just beautiful voice . So professional well done . I totally love to hear more . And some information for 55 and up running away from the winter blues . Thank you so much. Totally enjoy all your information . ❤
Thank you so much for the very kind words! I'll work on some information about 55+ communities when I can get to it. I really appreciate your comment!!!
You don’t need to have $1k car payments nor do you need to spend $700+k for 3-4 bedrooms when it’s just you and your partner! FL can be affordable if people are conscientious about what they need versus what they want. I would love to live right on the beach or on the intracoastal in a luxury building but I am aware of the cost and I decided I rather not be stressed to make that happen while also trying divvy up my remaining pennies from my paycheck or need to get a second job. I enjoy my life now spending
Hi. Thanks for commenting. Pensacola and Miami are very different. Miami is much hotter and a lot more crowded. It's has more of a big city feel, has a lot of culture, and is a relatively short drive to the laid back Florida Keys. Pensacola is in the Florida Panhandle. It's close to some amazing beaches along the gulf coast and has a much more small town atmosphere. It gets quite a bit cooler there in the non-summer months. If you're considering moving to either location I would suggest you visit both places and spend some time there. Feel free to email me if you have more specific questions, or if I can help with a potential move.
I'm planning on moving to the Gulf side of Florida sometime in the next 5 or 6 years. My goal is to buy a boat and live on the sea, but I'm also open to dryland living if necessary. And if that turns out to be the case I'd rather rent than buy. Could you direct me to the best sites for searching for rental properties in Florida?
Thanks for commenting Mark! And thanks for subscribing! I spent a year in Key West and had a few friends who lived on sailboats just offshore. I even considered it myself for a while. It's a totally different lifestyle. And the gulf side is probably better for living on a boat, in general. However, some of the intercoastal waterways on the east coast would be an option too. As far as rentals, you can search most of the same websites that buyers use, like Realtor.com, Zillow.com, and Homes.com for rental properties. If you choose a specific area on the gulf coast there are also more localized websites available.
I found this very interesting. How does one get in touch with you. I know someone who would like to purchase a place in Florida but does not know where in Florida..
Thank you very much! The best way to get in touch is by email: KenTyndallRealEstate@gmail.com I would be thrilled to answer any questions and help in any way that I can! Thanks for commenting!
There are currently 141,852 homes for sale in Florida. The median list price in Florida is $465,000 and the average price per square foot is $235. That being said, most homes are at or above the $500K range now in 2023.
Thanks for commenting! There are so many variables in different parts of the state. But one thing for sure, real estate is not as affordable as it was a few years ago!
Thanks for your question! Gainesville is a great college town, located inland in north central Florida. The University of Florida is quite nice and there's a really cool downtown area. When I'm there, I love having a bite to eat at one of the cool cafes with sidewalk seating. The cost of living is very affordable too. Thanks for commenting!
I actually like Largo. I think it's a great location - not far from some of my favorite beaches (Treasure Island, St. Pete, Indian Rocks, etc.). And great proximity to St. Petersburg and Tampa. Some great neighborhoods and relatively affordable. I've looked in that area for something for myself over the years.
I'm going to beg to differ with you so far as the population situation is concerned. Jacksonville is the biggest city by size in Florida along with having the largest population in Florida. I'm a 50 plus year native of Jacksonville and witnessing and experiencing the population first hand. Aside from being here my entire life if you do a web search the results tell the same story. Jacksonville is the largest city in Florida in both size and population. Our population is not smaller than Tampa or Miami's. It's a larger population. I wish it was smaller!
Thanks for your input! Whatever information was used when putting together this video does need to be corrected. Yes, Jacksonville is the biggest county by population as well as land mass (since the city and county merged decades ago). All three cities (Jax, Tampa, and Miami) continue to grow, and it seems people in all those metros are feeling those growing pains, as are other parts of the state. Since the city and county cover the same area, the population of Jacksonville includes that large land mass, where Tampa and Miami do not cover their entire counties. Thanks again for pointing this out! I appreciate your comment!
Very informative video, so I that you for that. Im ready to retire, but do not want to retire in my current oven state of America that is all desert- dirt & cactus, where the heat can sometimes over 120°. Its so hot that no one goes outside unless its our so-called winter. If Im going to bake, Id rather have a little more moisture in the air. I want to live in a red state and want to be in a place where there are a variety things to do besides going to a beach (born and lived in Cali., so Im not just thinking beach areas). So, florida is on my my retirement list. I visited back in the late 70's and loved that it had so much to explore.
Thanks for commenting! I've been to (or at least been through) Yee Haw Junction (Yes, it's a real place) and Mims several times over the years. While they're not very well known, and don't make the cut on this list, they may indeed have some qualities that some people could be seeking. Perhaps those who don't like the the crowds, traffic, and congestion of the bigger cities like Orlando, Tampa, and Miami should take a look! I appreciate your input!
Love the video and Florida too for me its Punta Gorda next to no crime a beautiful downtown and of course Charlotte harbor fishing and boating are my favorite things have to have a boat if your considering living there Charlotte harbor is hugh and the best way to get to my favorite beaches on Boca Grande moving to PG soon.
Thanks for your comment! I hear that a lot from people who already live in Florida, who are watching the populations grow in their cities. I appreciate your input!
Pembroke Pines is definitely a great place in Southwest Florida! Close enough to Fort Lauderdale and not too far from Hollywood and Dania Beach, which I really enjoy! Thanks for commenting!
Thank you for your question! Overall, the Palm Beach area is great. Palm Beach itself is extremely expensive! That's where the billionaires live. But West Palm Beach is affordable and has a lot of nice neighborhoods. Some feel it's getting crowded. Take a look at North Palm Beach. It's affordable, and very safe overall. Here's a video on Safest Places to Live in Florida: th-cam.com/video/Zv8gtaxjV7w/w-d-xo.html The Palm Beach area has a great South Florida vibe, with a diverse population, great restaurants and an active nightlife. Thanks again!
Jacksonville has a relatively low cost of living for a bigger city, compared with other places in Florida, thanks to housing costs. Naples has a very low crime rate, but it's expensive. But take a look at Satellite Beach in Brevard County on the east coast. The cost of living is lower the the average in Florida. And it's one of the safest cities, with the lowest crime rate. Hope that helps. Thanks for commenting!
Thanks for commenting! Vero Beach is awesome and I've had some good times there. It's a great place to live on the Atlantic coast (between Melbourne and Port St. Lucie) and has some really nice neighborhoods. Definitely a place to consider! (And I've noticed those numbers changing too) I really appreciate you input!
When you speak about Sarasota you should include Venice. It has that small town feel the down town area is small and easy to get around in with lots to see and the gulf’s beach is just a short walk west. I think Venice is the best place to live in Florida.
You're absolutely correct! I love Venice! It's just south of Sarasota and much less crowded. The historic downtown area is awesome and right next to the beach. I love the shops and restaurants on Venice Avenue! Thanks for commenting and I appreciate your input!
Palm Coast is definitely a place to consider! It's the cheapest major city in Florida, with a cost of living 14% lower than the state average! I mentioned this in another recent video about mistakes to avoid when moving the Florida. Thanks for commenting!
@@KenTyndallRealEstate I did some work as an appointment setter in Virginia and when I looked up my pad through the usual channels, I could not believe how it fluctuated between sites !!
I have a lot of friends in Lakeland. It's more affordable than a lot of places, not too far from the gulf beaches and the Orlando theme parks, and it's inland so you do feel a lot of impact from the storms! Contact me directly if you have any questions. Thanks for your comment!
As a Floridian, where you want to live should be based on the factors that will make you happiest. Is it the weather, geography, activities (or lack thereof)? Are you a people person or do you like quiet places? Do you like urban sprawls or a country setting? Do you like summer year-round, or do you prefer 4 seasons? What most people don't discuss is just how varied and diverse Florida can be depending on where you are in the state. The northernmost part of Florida is more mountainous and can see flurries once in a while in winter. It does have 4 seasons but not severe extremes. The central part of Florida (where we live) near Gainesville/Ocala begins to change in terrain from mountainous/hilly to southern flatlands (Tampa/Orlando/Miami). A few weeks in January and February, we do have the occasional nights where it can get down into the teens and 20's for low temps, but it doesn't last more than a couple of days at a time, then we usually go back up to 40's and 50's for highs. The southern half of the state has 2 seasons, hot and REALLY REALLY HOT. The insects (mosquitos) are also much worse in the major metros than in the more rural areas. If you want to live by the coast, expect your living costs to skyrocket due to all the extra insurance you will be required to pay for vs. living inland. We can get to a beach within an hour being in the middle of the state. Do you want to pay double, or even triple, just to save a few moments of driving to see what you wish to enjoy, or is living on the beach a deal breaker and a must which you are happy to pay for? Consider if you are willing to live in an HOA or not. They have a lot of legal precedence over your home even though you are the homeowner. You have to follow their endless ridiculous rules or get penalized, in some cases with liens on your home. Just do your due diligence and research. That is your best advocate. I hope this helps as no one gave us the true sense of what living in Florida was like before we moved here 20 years ago. We love living here, but knowing where you will be happiest is truly crucial to enjoying all that Florida has to offer. We built our retirement home in 2019 and we pay just under $1k for all housing expenses including our mortgage. The only bills we have are our mortgage, electric (with solar), phone and internet... nothing else. :)
I learned important facts from this video that I did not know. However, one thing I did know when I saw who was providing this information was that it would be impossible to find someone I could trust more in delivering it to me. I worked with Ken many years ago when he was in a different profession. And, when I need anything in the real estate world, it will be Ken Tyndall I will go to.
Thanks for commenting. Hurricane season is certainly a thing in Florida. There is actually a short mention of hurricane season about 1 minute and 50 seconds into the video. ("we also learn to live with hurricane season from June through November." And I go on to give a little background into how the "Treasure Coast" got its name, and how that relates to a hurricane.) I've seen a lot of hurricanes cause a lot of damage in parts of the state. (I am a former TV news reporter, so I was sent to cover a number of hurricanes over the years. I was an eyewitness to hurricanes - before, during, and after they hit the state.) Thanks again for your comment!
Thanks for commenting! Naples is mentioned along with Cape Coral. Naples is included in several top 10 lists, and for good reason! It's an amazing place! But it can be too expensive for a lot of people. If it's in your budget, you should definitely check it out. I appreciate your input! Thanks!
Thanks for commenting. It is odd the way the same cities can end up on such different lists. I think so much depends what part of the city you live in, or if you live in the suburbs, and which one. That's something you definitely would want to do more research on before moving!

Hi Eric! Thanks! I can share a lot of extra information with you about Miami and Sarasota (they're totally different), or other possible places. Email me. KenTyndallRealEstate@gmail.com.
Well I've lived in Florida 25 years in various areas, you selected 2 areas with very dense population. I left Sarasota a few years ago, it is a great area just very over crowded, be prepared for alot of traffic and accidents regularly. I would look outside of Sarasota, more towards Venice or other smaller towns near there. Miami is very loud, crowded and touristy, so if you are young you would love it. If your over 40 I would say def not.
@@ericmiller8634 I spend quite a bit of time in the Venice area. It has a really awesome downtown area with great shops and restaurants. And just south of Venice is Englewood. It's much more affordable and much less crowded. I have friends in Englewood and Nokomis (near Venice) and love spending time in those ares south of Sarasota!
Thanks for your question. I am based in Central Florida so I don't have any direct knowledge about that. I haven't seen anything in the news and didn't notice anything the most recent times I've been to the Pensacola area in the last year or so. I appreciate your comment!

Thanks for your great video
Thank you very much!!! I appreciate your comment!
Very good information. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks! I appreciate your comment!
Thanks for weighing in! It’s so good to hear from somebody who’s so happy where they are! I appreciate your comment!
That was a good video. First time I've ever seen you.
Thank you for commenting! And Thanks for watching!
I love Florida, many years and explored many cities. As I have gotten older i do prefer quiet and less crowded areas still with nice beaches close.

Well Ken I have to say you do such a professional job love the video. Excellent work and by the way.I live in Cape Coral Our motto here in the cape is another day in paradise
Thank you so much!!! Great to hear from somebody in Cape Coral. I really appreciate your comment!
I will visit Pensacola. I am in France now but plan to move to Florida. I choose Pensacola due to the presence of the military.

My brother and sister in law live in The Villages; Was there in late May very nice but very expensive
I have always like Pensacola
Thanks for commenting!
I’m thinking of moving to Florida. I love the video. Thank you 🙏

Be careful...it's flat...and hot...very very hot...
Awesome. I have been looking at Fort Pierce/Vero Beach area.
Thanks for commenting! That's a great area with a lot to offer. It's not only a great place to live, but a lot of Floridians enjoy visiting there from other areas. I've had a lot of good times in Vero Beach. And you'll find some great neighborhoods there too. Thanks for your input!
Sarasota used to be GORGEOUS around the year 2000. Now it's too busy.
Thanks for commenting! Indeed, like so many other places in Florida, it seems it was better many years ago before it got so much bigger. I think it's still an awesome place, but I agree, I liked it better when it was smaller! I appreciate your input!
Excellent video.

Got to add Hallandale Beach Florida beautiful city good beaches and restaurants and growing businesses and communities and a good nightlife.

Thanks for commenting!
great video!

I talked about that in another video: Moving to Florida: 9 Things to Know! th-cam.com/video/Sl5-QxxZ-KM/w-d-xo.html
I haven't heard about insurance on a 500K home as high as 30K a year.
Thanks for commenting. You bring up several valid points. I appreciate your input!

You forgot Palm Beach Gardens, FL
Palm Beach Gardens is another awesome Florida location! Thanks for commenting!

Exactly! I really appreciate your input. And thanks so much for adding that perspective. It's all about choices, right?

Hi can you please tell me what Pencilcola is like or Miami as i am looking at moving to USA
They all sound good but i just do not know what state to go to. Im from New Zealand
Thank you very much as this has helped me alot.
@@KenTyndallRealEstate Thanks for the reply! I’m definitely looking forward to the gulf side.
If you are young, you can live on the boat, when you retire, you may see a doctor more often than you think.

There are currently 141,852 homes for sale in Florida. The median list price in Florida is $465,000 and the average price per square foot is $235.
That being said, most homes are at or above the $500K range now in 2023.

what about Gainsville how is it for living
Thanks for your question! Gainesville is a great college town, located inland in north central Florida. The University of Florida is quite nice and there's a really cool downtown area. When I'm there, I love having a bite to eat at one of the cool cafes with sidewalk seating. The cost of living is very affordable too. Thanks for commenting!
any advice on largo
Plus Jacksonville is reported to have high crime rate
Moved here from NYC. Will never move back!

However, Clearwater and St. Petersburg is far enough and just beautiful.
I agree that Clearwater and St Pete are beautiful! Some of my favorite places. Thanks for commenting!
Hope you find the perfect place to retire!
I thinks Mims and Yee Haw junction should be on everyone's short list!

What cities have affordable housing and low crime rates in FL?
Jacksonville has a relatively low cost of living for a bigger city, compared with other places in Florida, thanks to housing costs. Naples has a very low crime rate, but it's expensive. But take a look at Satellite Beach in Brevard County on the east coast. The cost of living is lower the the average in Florida. And it's one of the safest cities, with the lowest crime rate. Hope that helps. Thanks for commenting!

Always look for a home near the shore , you get the seabreeze in the summer, it's less humid and less mosquitoes.
@@romanromanowski9038 Do you live in Florida? That is the worst advice we have ever heard as a Floridian.
Lived in Lakeland for 25 yeas. Best town in central florida hands down

Thanks for commenting. Hurricane season is certainly a thing in Florida. There is actually a short mention of hurricane season about 1 minute and 50 seconds into the video. ("we also learn to live with hurricane season from June through November." And I go on to give a little background into how the "Treasure Coast" got its name, and how that relates to a hurricane.) I was an eyewitness to hurricanes - before, during, and after they hit the state.) Thanks again for your comment!

Orlando and Jacksonville were on best and worst lists.
Thanks for commenting. It is odd the way the same cities can end up on such different lists. I think so much depends what part of the city you live in, or if you live in the suburbs, and which one. That's something you definitely would want to do more research on before moving!
Inverness
Thanks for your input! A great place to live if you’re looking for small town living! I appreciate your comment!
great video sir, i live in indianapolis and looking to move to a warmer climate...LOL, im single and got some money coming in a little more than most prople, can you give me any suggestions? i was thinking miami or sarasota.
Hi Eric!
@@tracyh2421 ok thanks.
@@tracyh2421 thanks again tracy venice sounds good because im 52...lol!!!
No, but I want to move there
Let me know if I can do anything to help with a future move!

how are the immigrants affecting the Pensacola area? Are they noticeable yet?
Thanks for your question. I am based in Central Florida so I don't have any direct knowledge about that. I haven't seen anything in the news and didn't notice anything the most recent times I've been to the Pensacola area in the last year or so. I appreciate your comment!
What do you think about that idea
It's more fun in the Philippines.
I've never been there, but I hear the islands are beautiful!
@@KenTyndallRealEstate Why not go there and see for yourself. The first thing you will notice are the friendliness and the hospitality of the people. secondly, English speaking people, so don't need an interpreter. Thirdly, the beaches, malls and food. Fourth, visa free for 30 days.
@@ethiehetherington5086 I'd love to go some day. I have family members who have been there and they loved it. I'll put it on my wish list!
@@KenTyndallRealEstate Good, you might like it there and even consider to retire there, because your dollar will go a little farther.
343000 is the population of Saint Lucie County, not port saint Lucie port. Saint Lucie's is about 225 .
You are correct. It's the population of St. Lucie County. Thanks for clarifying. I appreciate your input!
No mention of Fernandina Beach? Not even an honorable mention? A lot of people I've talked to about their favorite place in Florida is none of the places mentioned in this video. It's almost always FB.
Thanks for commenting! There are so many more places I wish I had time to mention and Fernandina Beach is one of them! Along with Amelia Island, it's a great place to live and visit. I do appreciate your input.
St Augustine, in St Johns county......number 1 school district in Florida.........and in the top 30 districts in the country. Cresent beach and Butler beach were voted some of the best beaches in Florida........St Johns county is growing fast....and only 45 minutes from Jacksonville.
Thanks for adding that information! I think St. Augustine is awesome! I visit there on a regular basis and absolutely love the history there! And yes, the schools are great. Thanks for commenting!
Home prices are way too expensive right now but are expected to return back to a normal price in 1Q2024. Plus property insurance rates are going up!
Hi Tony. Thanks for commenting and thanks for subscribing! We're all hoping home prices level out and mortgage rates come down soon! Yes, the property insurance issue is a thing here in Florida. That's something else we're hoping our leaders will be able to sort out!
I want to move to Florida, particularly bike/walk friendly areas. But know little about the state
Thanks for commenting! There are lots of smaller communities where you can bike and walk around town, including smaller coastal towns and inland areas. Feel free to contact me directly via email if you have specific questions.
