Really appreciate that Nick! As a newer channel, that truly mean a lot! I know some folks knock on these "data" type of videos and nitpick at them...but I think they're a great way to share data and really dive deep into all the crazy variables that are out there lol Glad you enjoy them, thanks again!
Glad the timing was on point! Lol I've had a bunch of cars through out the years and although this isn't the fastest, it's just such a fun car! And of course it looks gorgeous (subjective, but I love it lol). The good thing with a factory turbo car is with just bolt ons and a tune, they really wake up. Still have plenty of room for more power too, which I have plans into the future for that. Incase you didn't know, they stopped production recently on these so they might become harder to find later on. Definitely test drive one if you haven't, and let me know if you end up getting one! Good luck!
Thanks! The car is a blast to drive! Right now she's hiding under a car cover as we're getting hit with a pretty bad snowstorm. Might get about 2 feet so she won't be moving lol
Interesting ....... and well done. The mods to my A124 are extremely the same as yours - Ragazzon, Eibach, Oz Racing, V4. However I not got the cross-pipe and down pipe, the cross pipe is possibly in the pipeline but the down pipe unlikely as I want to keep the noise a bit more on the downlow. But the big difference is I have the Tork 1+ tune. I am happy as !!! Transformed the car.
Thanks! And yea sounds like very similar mods...great choices! (not many people have the Ragazzon on the Abarth). From what I hear...the down-pipe and cross-pipe are the parts in the exhaust that actually give some decent power. So you should definitely feel a difference when you get it! I agree, a tune makes a huge difference...really wakes up our cars!
Looks good! I wanna start modding and tuning mine soon. All I've done is a system one cat back 2.5 in crossover, and progress technology springs. I wanted to get a new downpipe because that's the first thing to mod on turbo cars to get more power but I don't know jack about doing flashes and ecu tunes. I can do the work on everything else but I don't wanna brick my ecu. Is stage 1 tune just plug and play or do I have to find a dyno shop?
You can do it yourself and no need for a dyno unless you're specifically getting dyno tuned. Most tuning companies will work the same...they will send you a handheld device with cables to attach to the car and your computer. It's just downloading and uploading the files. The concern about bricking your ECU can still happen, but unlikely, (can happen if you accidentally unplug the cable from the car while the flash is in progress).
Yea I think that would be the sweet spot for this car without going too crazy. Currently i'm running the Eurocompulsion Phase 1 tune, but they're Phase 3 tune with larger drop-in turbo I think is around 230whp and they said recently that they have some more stuff in the works and looking to get to 250whp. Would be nice to hit that with just bolt-ons, drop-in turbo and a tune.
The 20 degree difference screwed any viable results from this test. 20 degrees, and sub freezing temps, going to make a 20 WHP difference alone. Need to retest when temps come back up and get validated results.
Yea I wish the temps were closer but it was that time of year that once it dropped here in NJ they don’t go up much lol From the research I did on DA, it does take temperature into account, so I adjusted the numbers a bit according to that…but again i’m still learning that. I do not know exactly how much of a difference 18 degrees equals to WHP…but if I catch another 40-50 degree day I’ll try getting another pull in to compare. All I know is just like with unsprung weight vs sprung weight…there are a ton of theories online. Hence why I tried to do my own tests and tried to control as many variables as possible. When it comes to temperature I’ve come across articles online saying 10 degrees equals 1 percent HP, and another saying 1.9% to 20 degree difference (both being very similar), and that would equal to like 4whp difference, not 20whp (hypotheticaly if the car is sitting at 200whp to use a round number) I’m all ears though and love doing doing tests like this. If you have some data/articles you know of that talks about temperature or DA and how to adjust let me know. Can't control temperature so it will only help going forward with other tests!
I'm getting the Tork tune in March, as soon as the car is out of storage. I really need to find and make a decision about a Crosspipe, because you're right. Just the Axle back is not enough to see a ton of power gains.
Nice! It's gonna feel STRONG once you tune it! Yea on our cars the crosspipe and downpipe really seem to free up the most power. Do you have an axle-back currently or still full stock exhaust?
@@DrivenDistrict I have an axle-back and stock all the way back up. The spring of 2018 I went to a local speed shop and they fabricated a custom muffler delete. Dude though I was crazy asking him to straight pipe a 4 cylinder (still has stock CAT, but you know what he means) but he was eating crow on first fire up and we took it for a test drive! Clearly his first, and I believe only, multiair he's ever worked on.
Hey just ordered one off your website. Forgot to select automatic. Could you change that before shipping? Also is the phase 2 along with pops and bangs already on there or do I have to purchase that separately?
No worries, I will change it to automatic 👍 Pops & bangs is an option which is now included for free with your tune. You will receive a form to fill out and that form will have the options for pops and bangs and other stuff.
Thank you! You will receive an email with the form and that will be used to create your tune, so everything you want will be added to your first tune file.
Will be doing that after winter! In my past cars I always had a habit of going big from the beginning...then you get used to the power and can’t do much lol Will definitely be going Phase 2, and then stuffed turbo with Phase 3 :)
@@DrivenDistrict Phase 3 is just right. But don’t expect fast spool up out of this 1.4L and these non ball bearing turbos. It’s a budget car after all. But it’s a blast for sure.
I have not dynoed the car, but Eurocompulsion says they got 142whp stock, and 180whp with Phase 1 tune. So approximately 40whp. Keep in mind it also depends what other mods you have on the car. You might see more or less depending on your mods. I do plan on getting the car on the dyno eventually. I'll be going to Phase 2 soon and will update in the future with new results, dyno hopefully, and more.
Stock turbo output at 14-15lbs? Abarth takes it to 22lbs to produce a whopping 4 hp more in sport mode? So what does it take to make another 20hp to 180? 200hp????? Yowza that's got to be some crazy turbo numbers and crazy bad on gas.
Great job but next time itd be better to test a real life acceleration running through the gears not a single gear. People dont drive fast through a single gear so the low end torque you measure running through a gear isnt going to translate to a real life 40-100mph or 1/4 mile run where you are only low in the powerband for a tenth of a second in 1st gear and all the rest of the run you are going from 4500rpm to redline, shift, 4800rom to redline, shift.
Got plenty more tests coming! 😁 This particular test was meant to be no shifting to minimize variables so I can use it to compare in the future. I have a 40-100mph (2nd-4th gear) test which is already up here: th-cam.com/video/3KAoHwsKRUg/w-d-xo.html And coincidentally I just went out today and recorded another 40-100mph test (still 2nd-4th gear), but in much better conditions since that last video if you watch it...conditions were far from ideal lol Will be working on editing these videos in the next week. If you’re not already, consider Subscribing to stay up to date. Appreciate it, thanks!
Not sure where you are...but it's winter here and we just got about 2ft of snow. If you want to go to the track and share data then be my guest! The point of the Dragy performance meter is to be able to calculate and keep track of data at your own free time without needing to go to the track to get some small tests in. Some folks enjoy talking cars and sharing data like this without getting dizzy :) lol I'm a numbers guy...I like analyzing stuff like this. It's obviously not everyones cup of tea.
Killing it with the videos. High quality and effort, and you really get into the numbers. Keep it up!

This is a sweet car. I’m a little behind on mods with just a EC Phase 1. It’s good to learn what potential is out there.

Solid video with actual numbers
Thanks, appreciate it!
I’m going to shoehorn a LS1 in mine I’ll keep you posted
I like your work here. Very scientific and reproduceable.
