I did my first playthrough on Hard and really enjoyed it, had the same reasoning as you that Persona 5 Royal and Persona 3 Reload were not too tough even on the hardest difficulty, Metaphor on hard was extremely hard but I liked the challenge. Overworld navigation felt genuinely scary since getting hit first often meant getting wiped, I had to constantly switch up my party because if I wasn't pushing as much turn advantage as possible I wouldn't be able to progress, I had to play most of the game underleveled and MP management was really really important. Not for everyone so I can see why you recommend against it but it was doable for me.
I can’t tell you how many time I jumped when barely dodging an attack on the overworld. The dungeons were so intimidating on hard. Glad to hear I wasn’t the only one finding it difficult and it’s doable on a first play through. I do want to run it back again on hard at some point now that I know the game more.
Luise is a great villian, imo he's like a mash-up, between Griffith from Berserk, a man with a strikingly beautiful and heroic appearance, but would kill anyone who gets in the way of achieving his dream of gaining his kingdom , and the Mad King Ashnard from Fire Emblem Path of Radiance, an evil king who values power over everything else including bloodline, often time promoting lowborn people due to they're martial prowess.
At about hour 40 with Metaphor. Honestly, really liking the Hard difficulty so far. Yes, I've gotten frustrated over TPKO-ing because one of my party members missed before I could pull of a heal. I also have a nasty habit of trying to keep a static party, and this game is breaking me out of that.
Yeah the only thing that ticks me off is getting ambushed and getting hit with an aoe, a weakness, and a crit, a few times each and i die before i have a chance to do a single thing lol. Serious issue on hard until you make everyone start in back row with the bardon defence boost (that single ability changed the way i play more than anything else in the game lol)
5:27 played it on hard my first time and let me tell you … this game isn’t playing. I did happen to make it all the way to the final boss but he kept whipping me and after a week of banging my head against the wall i turn it down to normal for him and beat the first try on that.
The final boss seemed like a pretty solid difficulty jump on normal. I was still able to beat it on the first try, but I know I would have had to grind a lot to beat it on hard.
@ yo especially when he just started giving himself more turns i he doesn’t miss or you reflect in the final Phase. Despite all that I never got rage quity about it. Just rolling my eyes at having to do it again.
I still think P5R is my favorite, but Metaphor definitely came close. As for Louise being the best villain... maybe. But my favorite antagonist (not villain) is still you-know-who at the end of P5R, because he was a genuinely good person and not a hypocrite, as most sympathetic antagonists tends to become. Louis is a better Griffith-clone than Sephiroth was trying hard to be though lol. I also like that he's a direct reference to the SMT Lucifer, who went by the name of Loius Cipher in SMT2. Looks exactly like him too.
That’s a solid pick. That final bit of P5R was solid. Always loved how “I Believe” and “Throw Your Mask Away” were Jokers and that characters arguments for fighting.
I feel comparing a Re-release game to a non Re-release game is somewhat stretching it. But I digress. But I actually prefer Louis over “him” for the reason being that Louis is the antagonist throughout the game versus “spoiler” who is an antagonist that only appears in a re-release to replace a antagonist (again). Louis is the most consistent presence as an antagonist.
I don’t understand this game. I played the full demo and I have issues. Why would anyone fallow this blue haired kid? By the end of the demo they were calling him captain? The real captain was killed and Lord sheep boy and Red hair knight appears to me to have more leadership exp. And I know he is in running to be king. But why? I realized by the end of the demo I did not want to play as blue haired boy. So I guess I am in the minority that did not think the game is good? The battle system seems fun but that story is all over the place. Please tell me if I am missing something.
Blindly trusting people with power instead of believing in yourself(the blue guy)? The game might reveal to you how that might not be the best idea There is no motive for the blue kid to be king during the demo. You're only surviving and helping your friends in need. Your teammates are the only witnesses to your strength so they call you captain because they are following behind you towards their personal goals throughout the entire game
Nah, I’m with you, though for other reasons. Enjoyed most Atlus games, but this one definitely didn’t click with me. Personally, I suspect P5/SMTV will be peak Atlus and it’ll be downhill from there on, but who knows? We’ll see what the future holds.
Best case for why they follow you is that you show a proclivity for navigating dangerous areas and deciding tactics. Best case for why you should run for king is that you were the prince's childhood best friend. Not great reasons but reasons nonetheless. P4 and P5 have a similar problem. Your friends follow your lead because there's something special about you despite you saying almost nothing. I don't let it bother me because the rest of these games are 10/10 in almost every other regard.
i like it, but, it definitely has an 'MP' issue unless you're willing to grind weak enemies back-and-forth in dungeons with Mage / Wizard archetypes.
MP is why I wish I started the game on normal instead of hard. Ended up using less and going further in dungeons on normal.

Frequently, I had to stand and get closer to the screen to read stuff. I love the game. I'm awful at it, but I love it.
I have the Xbox elite series controller and bound one of the back buttons to the magnifier tool.

I wish I started swapping the party earlier. Late game I was cycling people way more.

You should try out Shin Megami Tensei IV. In my opinion the best game on the 3DS and debatably the best atlus game
be warned though the first 6 hours of the game are INCREDIBLY hard for newcomers. Totally worth it though
