amzn.to/31cDOY2 Replacement blower fan on Amazon.com
Just a quick video showing how easy it is to remove and clean or replace your blower fan for your heater or Air Conditioning. This is on a 2004 Chevy Silverado work truck 1500. I was able to remove the blower fan assembly with no tools. Cleaning it made a huge difference. Every time I turned on the air conditioning, it made a loud deep noise and vibration due to the imbalance of debris inside the fan. After cleaning the fan, it runs very smooth and quiet.
No tools needed for this job.
You might have noticed that the fan speeds 1 and 2 do not currently work in this truck. That is most likely caused by a bad blower fan resistor. I may be doing a video on that soon as well.
    Thanks for watching!

Awesome, Dan, my AC and Heater wasn't working, fan made a terrible noise, had a pack-rat issue last year, got rid of the rat who was living in my firewall but didn't dawn on me to check the fan or know how to. This tutorial was perfect, took me 10mins, fan was FULL of bedding. cleaned it, replaced it, cleaned it again, now have AC and HEAT again. By the way I live in Tucson, AZ and the heat was killing me. 106° the past week. Thank you.

Now to find a video about replacing the cabin headliner.

Just an update.... First off, the shroud that isn't shown in the video has three 7MM bolts on the underneath securing it on. The far right bolt (passenger side) was pretty easy to remove. The center bolt was a bit of a prick, because I think there was a "speeder nut" inside the shroud for some weird reason. I had to pull down on the shroud to stop the speeder nut from spinning while unscrewing the bolt. I finally got that out. When the center bolt is removed, you can pull down (carefully) on the shroud and start removing the blower motor. Now the fun part...that tab that has to be moved to allow the blower motor to be turned is all the way in the rear of the blower motor. I had to lay on the seats and almost stand on my head to get to it. I'm guessing the seats in the video aren't present, or it's a very small man working in the video. Also, the plastic tab was very stiff (15 years old so to be expected) and I had to jam a flathead screwdriver against the tab to bend it enough to clear. Finally, after wiggling the motor back and forth, it dropped down. And lo and behold, a dead mouse, along with about 30 large maggots was the culprit in my case. I got it all cleaned out and tried the motor and it was quiet as a...wait for it....DEAD MOUSE!!! :-D Putting it in only involved hassling with the dang foam insulation ring, but I finally got it all assembled.

That's disgusting, a week ago I tried replacing my cabin air filter and got to that last bitch of a 7mm bolt in the middle but couldn't get it out. Come to find out that my 07 Silverado classic doesn't even have a filter in it. I'm gonna remove my motor though and see what's up with it. Round 2 with that middle bolt.

I see what you mean about the center screw. It was a bitch to get out.

I have a Chevy Avalanch 02/03 and the passenger side fan was making an awful noise. Your video pointed me right to the issue. I found a piece sound dampening foam had fallen.. Popped it out removed the foam hooked it back up and now its quiet again! great video. I didn't have to push the tab, just twisting mine released it.

Had this exact problem on 2004 Chevy Suburban Z71. The hardest part was getting the last screw out for the black plastic shroud that covered the parts. Pulling the fan out was just like your video. My fan had only a couple of leaves in it. Once they were out, I used the blower on the fan to make sure things were cleared out, ran it just like you did outside of it's home, and put it back in place. No more sound! Thank you! Now I can get full AC breeze in hot Texas. Now, I have to swap out the HVAC blend actuator, which also required taking that black shroud off. No way is that going back on until the actuator is swapped successfully. I will also be replacing the HVAC control panel because the numbers go the opposite direction of what I am trying to set and it's a pain.

This worked perfect for me, thanks! Best thing about these old trucks is how easy they are to work on. Don’t even gotta pull the dash just literally reach up and spin it out. It was just a little foil gum wrapper stuck in mine that was makin noise lol

Just experienced the EXACT same sound/vibration on my 2004 Silverado. Glad to see the fan is an easy access. Like others, I hope it is just funk in the squirrel cage and not a bad motor. Thanks a ton for a VERY complete and precise video. Well done, sir!

Very good video. My truck happened to have the extra plastic peice under the hvac system. Way harder to remove the plastic than it is to remove the fan.
I had minimal noise compared to the video. To my surprise my noise was caused by a single medium/small sized dry leaf and that was it

Thanks for this video. My 2000 Silverado was super noisy the higher the fan speed, especially on max. There were two covers I had to take off. The big one was easy, two 7mm bolts. The mini-cover over the fan had foam in it for lower noise I am sure, two 5.5mm bolts. The back one took two beers to get on and off. My fan had leaves and leaf stems in the squirrel cage. Cleaned it out and my blower is quiet. Hardest part was the fan cover bolt in the back. Why does a work truck not have a cabin filter? Don't the workin' man deserve filtered air too?
