Really fantastic lyrics as always! I always really appreciate the cohesive imagery and theming you incorporate in your lyrics, and how well they flow with the song! A part of me does kinda wish that the lyrics incorporated a bit of Big Man's POV since he's singing alongside Shiver and Frye throughout the chorus, and I think it would have been interesting if there was a way the lyrics could have applied to both the betrayer and the betrayees in this scenario. Though that's just a really minor personal quibble on my end, and it's probably more cohesive with the title and the premise of the song to keep it at Shiver/Frye's POV. Heck, maybe Big Man singing those lyrics alongside them could also represent him owning up to his mistake lol. Regardless, again, really great work, your videos always give me something to look forward to whenever a new Splatoon song is revealed!

I've seen a few other lyrical interpretations of this song where a lot of the lyrics are Shiver & Frye hating on and threatening Big Man; and while it's an understandable interpretation of the song's premise, reading lyrics with that approach honestly left a sort of unhappy feeling in my gut. So I appreciate all the more how your lyrics center around this metaphorical scenario of a band of thieves being sold out by one member to explore the emotional reaction Shiver and Frye would have had, which tugs at my heart (in the good way!) while also totally making sense as a song the three would have produced together after moving past the real confrontation which inspired it. When I heard Big Betrayal for the first time, I was looking forward to seeing how you might interpret the lyrics, and in no time at all, you've absolutely hit it out of the park! I usually like to quote my favourite lyrics here but I'm really struggling for choice as every single line is just SO GOOD. "You wanted the bounty, sold us down the river/How could the heart of our band of thieves turn us in?" hits really hard. I love the references to Deep Cut songs as well as the band name itself - they all really add to the betrayal theme! The references to the Money, Fame, Love Splatfest to make sense of Big Man's motivations are also so brilliant (I've had the Money section of the chorus from these lyrics stuck in my head all morning, which is surprising given that I'm a Team Love lad myself haha) with the lists like "Silver, gold or copper" emphasising the rhythm of the song so well that they really feel like they could be the original lyrics written by Deep Cut themselves. To top it all off, I love how you've used clips from the Deep Cut boss fights for the music video as you've made them fit so well with the groove of the song! Thanks for a banger that will no doubt be stuck in my head all week - can't wait to hear this song in Splatfest so I can sing along!

When I heard Big Betrayal for the first time, I was looking forward to seeing how you might interpret the lyrics, and in no time at all, you've absolutely hit it out of the park! I usually like to quote my favourite lyrics here but I'm really struggling for choice as every single line is just SO GOOD. "You wanted the bounty, sold us down the river/How could the heart of our band of thieves turn us in?" hits really hard. I love the references to Deep Cut songs as well as the band name itself - they all really add to the betrayal theme! The references to the Money, Fame, Love Splatfest to make sense of Big Man's motivations are also so brilliant (I've had the Money section of the chorus from these lyrics stuck in my head all morning, which is surprising given that I'm a Team Love lad myself haha) with the lists like "Silver, gold or copper" emphasising the rhythm of the song so well that they really feel like they could be the original lyrics written by Deep Cut themselves. To top it all off, I love how you've used clips from the Deep Cut boss fights for the music video as you've made them fit so well with the groove of the song! Thanks for a banger that will no doubt be stuck in my head all week - can't wait to hear this song in Splatfest so I can sing along!
