Oh Luke you fill my heart with joy with these sort of vlogs. I loved looking around the antiques market with you and the piano stool turned out beautifully, well done!
What a great video, thanks for taking us with you and all the info 🥰 Just a little cushion tip, if buying the inners seperately from the covers always size up with the inners then you get a real filled out cushion that won't go flat quickly x
Hi Luke and Zara love the antique market was a fun outing. Love your piano stool cover excellent job😁. Your jug for utensils 💞💞and the pillow and throw look really nice in the living room great video have a great weekend till next time🥰🇨🇦
Luke, you could always saw one of those tables in half if it was a bit too wide and then fix the back edge to the wall. Then you could sell the second half or give it to a friend to use in their hallway.
Luke ive done upholstery before I think u should of tucked it under the cushion then stapled it gives a better edge to it but on saying that you did a good job of it another good vlog im with one of the other comments about cutting a table in half as dine think you'll find a table that thin might have to customise it as your hallway quite narrow x
Maybe if you’re lucky you can find something tossed out on the curb. Get out early on trash day. Mr C has found some great finds doing that. Just a suggestion. Good luck on your search
Lovely surprise to have a mid week vlog 🥰 Enjoyed the trip around the antique market, your mirror & console table is out there for you to find soon 😉 Great job on the piano stool, looks so smart & classic 😍
I have a “Thing” for Mirror’s. I was in my local charity shop when a Rolls Royce parked up. In walked an elderly couple with ornate lights and a stunning dressing Mirror. They informed myself and my daughter that the Mirror was from the Napoleonic era. I nabbed it there and then for £10.00! Gold Leafed, and the back of it tells its own age. I never hung it but I keep it in my bedroom in a corner next to my bedside unit. 👍👍👍👍💖
Oh Luke some beautiful pieces there 👌 I was so hoping you would find your perfect hall table I’m sure the right one is out there somewhere for you 🙏 Also the fabric for the piano stool is stunning!lotsa love ♥️ x x
Just a suggestion, you could cut a console table in half ..keeping the front as it should be and sit the back on a piece of wood attached to the wall ,
Loved loved loved this episode ❤ the piano stool turned out fabulous and looks gorgeous, the antique fair was amazing maybe you should put the hall table sizing on your vlog then people could look out for you at charity shops etc and send you pictures for you to say yay or nay x
Hey luke, please visit Bourne Mill antiques in Farnham, just down the A3 and Hogs back easy to find and many many rooms from different sellers, when we go we spend hours lost in there!.
Is it worth getting a door curtain for your front door? You can get door rods specifically for doors so that you don't have to open and shut the curtain all the time! We've used them before and they are great :)
A thick curtain across the front door would also help with drafts. You can get a door curtain rod that opens with the door or install a curtain pole from wall to wall.
You'll find that table! During the Victorian era (perhaps earlier?), half tables were very often used to take up less space and still be useful. They would line the walls of their most elegant rooms. Perhaps your new friends at Honeysuckle and Rose will have some contacts for you! I looked them up and joined their sites. Lizzie seems wonderful and certainly has an eye for beautiful things. As you shop around, get to know your vendors! Ask questions and learn more and more about antiques as you take your journey to that perfect table! Tell folks what your looking for, and ask them to ask around to their circles. That is how I've gotten most of my antiques. And, that has helped me build relationships and know I am paying the right price! Excellent job upholstering your first piece! Only advice about light fabrics is to add a layer of thick soft quilting batting or some kind of thick muslim or the like. That way, if the foam is dirty or has stains, they will not bleed through. Loved the antiques fair!
Hi I was just watching you in ur front room hope you don't mind but I think if u did the blue on ur fire place ur tv would disappear and fire surround would pop ❤
Hi Luke! What a nice antique market & love the variety of items you spotted. I agree that you never know what you'll find. Although I do think the best part was the tuna toastie. Lol 😄 Thanks for taking us along as always. Much love from Fort Worth, Texas! 😊🍭🎄
Hi Luke, great job 👏 on the upholstery. Love the urn for your kitchen utensils. Here's hoping you find your hall tabke before Christmas 🎄 See you soon. Much love ❤️
Luke, keep an eye out for local auction houses, that's where dealers at antique fairs buy much of their stock. Maybe look for ones outside of London - we go to a local one near Winchester in Hampshire (Andrew Smith) - you can pick up some real bargains. Just make sure you read the auction house's charges before you bid (in person or online!). Mostly, you can listen live on auction day, too. Really interesting!
Another fun adventure, Luke! I would have had to stop and see how much that surveyors' tripod was though and maybe wire it up as a lamp.. Also, you've had enough tradespeople at your house - I'm sure you could get one to cut a table down depthwise and then mount it over your radiator with a French cleat. If I didn't live on the other side of the pond, I'd put one on the table saw for ya. ;) Love and hugs from the US, L
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼Great job on the Piano stool Luke, looks fab 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼. I like Antique markets, but we don’t really have them over here in Perth, Western Australia sadly, few and far between eh. Have a great week 🦘🌻🦘
Hi Luke. Loved the antique browse. Unfortunately, I feel your pain with shopping for old pieces of furniture. Like you, I know what I want but it can take forever to find the right thing. Also, going to these sorts of sales are expensive with travel and entrance fee. I have ended up buying on Marketplace and painting/ changing up handles/ decoupaging and reupholstering to get what I want. Suggestion. Buy an electric staple gun. I had one of the hand ones and they are just not powerful enough. I bought a bog standard electric staple gun for about £40 about 2 years ago. I’ve used it for panelling, stapling trellis to fence panels outside, making picture frames and upholstering. It’s one of my favourite tools. Upholstery! The hours I have spent taking out staples. I upholstered a tub chair and decided to count how many staples I took out. 5,681! It took me nearly 9 hours in total and my hands were a mess. I find a fine chisel and a small hammer are the best for getting those critters out.
Great video Luke as always, stool looks great but if it was me I think I would have preferred the stripes going the other way. But personally preference I guess. Look forward to your next one. X
Well done, you're gaining so many new skills. Do you turn your sofa cushions? We were told that it improves the life of the seat cushions if you turn them over regularly. The piping moves down on the front as you sit on it. I hope this helps 🙂🙃
If you haven't been, you should try the antique market they put on at Kempton Racepark. It is amazing. Always come back with some amazing finds. It's huge!

@@LukeCatleugh Yes same here I’m in the process of tossing my UPVC windows and doors in the bin! So have been getting quotes from 20 + joiners in London. Looking forward to the Black Friday and January sales to get the quotes down. 😅

You don’t do that to Antiques it’s not MDF from B&Q ! 😂
I did think this but I don’t think I could do that to an antique😭
I did this for my hallway - worked brilliantly ❤ wasn’t an antique though

Hey, Luke. I am excited for when the holidays come and to see the Christmas videos!
Ahh thank you! Lots of festive videos planned❤

Oh wow! What a find!
@ it most certainly was Luke. The back of this long mirror where the wood is shows how old it is and the glass is mottled. It weighs a ton too!
Thanks for the visit to the antique market Luke - really good fun. I think you've made a really good job of the piano stool, class job!
Loved seeing around the show of the different items available. Love everything you brought

Give Mr. Carrington the table dimensions you need. With his luck, he’ll find the perfect one in the tip! 😉😂🤣
I need to do just that! Iwan is brilliant with finding treasure 😂
The stool is lovely as I've said before you have got so good with diy. Xx
I think may need something custom in the hallway or a nice radiator cover with a long bowl on top for keys etc? Good luck with the hunt

Thank you Luke for this wonderful video. Your piano stool is lovely, love the bright red. I would find it hard to leave home if I lived in your house.
Well done on the piano stool and I wish we had a wonderful antique market in our area but thank you for taking us to one of yours.

You've done a VERY fine job on the piano bench!
That antiques market was amazing. ❤
Oh Luke you should have said you were in Ardingly, i live just down the road, you could have popped in for a cuppa 😊
Such a nice thing to say about the antique dealer. You seem seem to be a nice chap too. Thanks to you for the videos. Thanks to Zara too.😊
Your upholstery skills are very impressive Luke. I have a stool that needs recovering too... so you've given me the motivation to get it done :)

Hi Luke 👋 you should go to Battlesbridge Antiques centre in Essex, you'd love it. Lovely pub there, too, called the Hawk
I’m going to check that out! Thank you so much ❤
Piano stool looks great Lukey boy
I love antique markets. I collect silver thimbles and sewing bits.

Just a thought; is your front door missing the weather bar? They often get knocked off doors and they’re easily replaced.
Have you considered getting a Carpenter to make you a Console Table? This way you’d get exactly what you want.💕
Hi Luke x
If you haven't been, you should try the antique market they put on at Kempton Racepark. It is amazing. Always come back with some amazing finds. It's huge!
Race COURSE..the yanks call it park, we invented the sport as it is known today so t’s. COURSE.😊
@Ionabrodie69 I'm a yank so that checks out. 😁
You really are a man of many talents!
You need a flea markets they do house clearance ❤
Love the piano stool. You and Zara should try some duets. Maybe some carols for Christmas.
Nice job❤
If you have a wooden original Victorian door you could get a carpenter to repair it. Otherwise it’s
£3500.00 for a Accoya front door in any period style copied like for like with a joiner in London
We don’t unfortunately, it’s UPVC so it will need to go as it’s not very in keeping with our home❤

Check with some of the narrow boat builders. You might find the perfect peice to go over the regulator.
You could put a heavy weight curtain up at the front door, this is what they did. A lovely Morris curtain, expensive but worth it!
Lovely things that you got 👍💚💚🌼🌼🍀🍀☘️🎄🇬🇷
You could diy the stripes if you like the style.
One man’s junk is another’s man’s treasure 😜
❤❤❤
I was just going to comment that you could saw the table then attach to the wall, when you came about the table with two legs.
Just like you said you will find the right pieces of furniture when you're not looking. Great buys though.
Hi luke
Good video
Why not just hand a shelf above the radiator in the hall you can even find shelves with drawers
👍👍👍👍look good
Great video have you watched Ash Mazzini and his partner Chad their channel is amazing their house is Victorian and beautiful xx
I really don't.blame you forking out .. really does pay to buy decent things that will stand test of time xx
Remember the sellers at these fairs expect you to haggle so be prepared to make an offer.
