Awesome renovation. Unlike bed liner, you will appreciate that simple paint application when repairs are needed

I watched this video the day you put it out on your website and I don't think I've been more excited to see the next episode of anything more than I am about the next one of this! haha Great video, keep up the good work Jed.

Thanks for choosing our enamel paint for your restoration! It is great to see that you've managed to find a good colour match for your van! Would you mind if we used some frames from your video to share on our social channels? :)

At least it will be a excellent 5m car, looks pretty for sure from 5m and it is fit for purpose. So well done!

Looking great Jed. Love the "lip stick on a pig" reference! properly made me laugh. Keep up the good work and enjoy your Morocco trip. Cheers

The prep is everything with bodywork. The finish of the panel work is top drawer. It looks like you have found the right way to go with the paint too Jed, really looking forward to seeing it all back together.

Brilliant video thank you, I've never heard of painting a van with a roller before but it looks brilliant and I would be very happy with the result on my t25 which because it is outside most of the time is never going to be perfect and I prob wouldn't want it like that anyway. My best wishes to you all and thanks again. Gérard lacey in Ireland.

Looking good. Might be worth putting a polyurethane sealant (sikaflex, tigerseal etc) in the seams between panels after its painted 👌

Thanks Phil. The rear end is most likely getting a sticker job so I want to have that applied before I seal the lot. That way there is no way any water can sneak behind the vinyl and trap water. I was actually given a lower Syncro 4x4 decal from a T3 vendor that contributed to the rust in the first place by trapping water behind it against the seams. Once bitten twice shy you could say.
      Cheers,
      Jed

No doubt, you could have respayed with two pack acrylic for about 2000 Euro in Spain or, even less in Morocco.

I know but the van is here and people seam to enjoy the process so I figured why not.

Great job!! I roller painted my Syncro back in 2017 and it still looks fine. Cost me $100 or so to do. Prep was the key, 3 coats of primer and wet sand between each, and 5 to 7 coats of base with wet sand between each. If you find a decent clear coat option, that would be great, the CC's I've tried have bubbled.

How/when did it get so messed up? Last thing I knew you were in Spain with it.

It was always in pretty bad shape. We just kept on patching it up until it was to unsafe to drive anymore.

why not paint it with Raptor Bed Liner ? Goes on well with a roller and adheres to any surface whilst being really durable and can be touched up easily if need be I the future?

    • @CampervanCulture.com-Official
      @CampervanCulture.com-Official  ปีที่แล้ว +1

We painted our yellow van with Raptor. Don't get me wrong, that stuff does have its place and it will be used in some areas of this van. I used to be a plasterer for 25 year and spent a lot of that time smooth plastering over Artex! I always think that Raptor is like Artex for cars when the whole thing is painted with it and devalues the vehicle hugely.
      Cheers.
