One of my "systems" for socialisation is saying yes to invitations (unless I really don't want to go/too tired) even when I have a pile of studying to do and work the next day! At the end of it, people really should be the priority; they're what we will remember fondly at the end of our lives, not how much studying we did! Keeping in touch with people and socialising regularly is hard for me as I'm an introvert. I often really don't feel like it but I say to myself "just go for an hour" and I usually end up having a good time and staying longer! I also really avoid touching my phone when I'm with people, as much out of respect for their presence as being in the moment.
i just started sixth form in september as well as getting my first job and trying to juggle all that on top of young enterprise and my hobbies has been so hectic! thank you for always managing to release your videos just as i need them Jade it’s magical 🌟🌟
As someone who is studying fulltime, working fulltime, volunteering and who has a social life I need systems so much! Thanks for inspiring me again :) btw, could you do a video on your notion set-up?
My notes on the video :) 1. Academic system - Sunday planning (look at deadlines, plan out reading, look at monthly and weekly goals) - mandatory minimum (estimate of minimum time to get something done well) - underestimation - location (where do I go to do reading) - vagueness = friction (plan location and timing) - motivation (solution: choice architecture. Make studying the easy option.) - start every study session with a pomodoro (25 mins, one task)
As someone who struggles so much to find time for my friends. What we did over lockdown is every week get together on a zoom call and just talked, for an hour. I would schedule it into the week and each week we would do something during said call, like playing online cards against humanity. Or even now with uni friends. I make sure to oragsnise things with my friends, and then when a little time is free spontaneously we do something!
As a busy senior high student studying International AS and A Level, I also feel both unmotivated and bored when I am at home, so I have to find and head to other suitable places, like library and cafe, to study productively and create more motivations. Thanks for your amazing tips to boost my efficancy and improve my workflows.
On the topic of maintaining relationships, I found that for me, though this is influenced by my international move a few years ago, it is best to have set weekly times to spend with friends. Having those weekly calls, though if I could see my old friends and boyfriend in person then we would do that instead, really helps. And since it is the same time every week if is easier to keep the time free. On top of that, I do text randomly with my friends. So in answer to your question, i think having a scheduled and regular baseline is essential, and then the rest can be spontaneous.
I love how organized your mind is , for me i can literally have like 12 pages open in my mind and drown in them cuz it's just so hard to organize and sort them out 🤯
I can't describe just how helpful this video is for me, I literally went for a notebook to write it all down XD thank you so much Jade!!! I love all your content
You inspire me so so much!!! I watch you every day, and inspire me to believe in myself and live my best life and to live with the best self care, even the tough self love!! You inspired me to write and illustrate my first children’s book that will be being printed and published soon, to step out of my comfort zone majorly, and now I am working with the former minister of education in Northern Ireland to improve mental health education, support and services in Northern Irish schools as well as being in the Youth Council for my area as well as the National Youth Choir for Northern Ireland as well as being the Welfare Student Officer for my campus. I’m so busy, but I love my life, and you have shown me that it is amazing not to go down the “A-levels, traditional university” route☺️ I wish I could meet you in real life honestly, you would be so an amazing friend to have
Jade! This video is come right when I need it! Just enrolled in my masters and am doing a one year diploma at the same time. Just today I was feeling super overwhelmed about how I will manage all my classes, readings and internships. Thank you so much! Your video is literally my casual (very real) magic for today. 🌞✨
Seeing how much time you put into filming a video from idea to execution, I value this video so much more! Thank you, Jade, it was really helpful 🌸💫🧚♂️
Hey Jade! Though I am still in middle school, I loved watching this video and others from your channel. You are so kind for putting out these videos, they are so helpful. Lots of love from India❤
Your channel and videos and your positive personality helped me alot in my life thankyouu my grades have improved after watching your videos regularly. I really wish u all the best ilysm
this video is exactly what i needed, this semester i moved out of my house into a university dorm and the planning and getting a balance is so much harder than i expected. so this really helped :)) btw in the section about your youtube system i saw this video idea about being scared of living abroad which is my daily dilemma: moving abroad for a semester next year or not, so if you have time and inspiration about this topic pls make a video about it x
omg, I wish I could find or have you as friend so bad... I would love spent hours talking at cafe and planning togheter ... For this new year I manifest to find someone like you. I love all your advices and how humble and true you are. Wish you the best for this new year and for everyone who's reading at my comment🥰
I'm so excited for the continual growth of your channel, Ahmed! I highly recommend making a video template and Kanban board on Notion to help you plan and track your uploads :)
I love your videos and I rarely comment, I’m so sorry, I’m usually too shy to do that, but I highly enjoy your videos. But this time I have to give my two cents, not in order to criticise, but to bring awareness to something that people may not be aware of. I gave up working as a freelancer for platforms fiverr and upwork because it was so stressful always delivering your best and fastest work at the lowest price possible, and at the same time having to compete with so many other freelancers living in countries that are able to offer much lower prices… I have to say it was soul-crushing and i was living with constant existential anxiety. It was very difficult trying to establish myself as a new freelancer, as, as we saw in your example, clients will often want to take on people with hundreds of five-star reviews. I understand that for people-pleasers it is very important to learn the skill of negotiation, but in this case I think it would be kinder to then tip the freelancer those $20 afterwards. I’m so sorry to be so negative, but I’m so passionate about freelancers getting paid fairly. And that’s not just a problem on those platforms. Much love, Anna
Anna, thank you for sharing your experiences! I hadn't considered this aspect of the platform and it's an interesting insight from the freelancer side -- you inspired me to tip him for his wonderful work 💛
How I systematized social relationships a little bit more: over the day (sometimes 2-3 days) - if I don't have the time or energy to reply directly - I put the chat on unread and into the archive on WhatsApp. This way, I always see how many people I didn't reply to. Also, I don't forget to answer and it keeps the friction low of having to search for an "unread" chat below. I still need to systematize other parts of my life though :) your tips are very helpful!! Thank you for this content! :)
I learned the "casual magic" word and learned about the concept from you. I love to read yours everytime I watch your video, it also makes me reflect on the present moment and find my own casual magic of the day, it's such a pleasing & magical thing to do
I love watching your videos because you motivate me to study. Your love of learning reminds me that I also love learning, so I should be doing just that instead of watching TH-cam lol. Also, I learned about Pomodoro from previous videos of yours and it's been an absolute game-changer for me! I have a hard time staying focused, my mind tends to wander, but those 25 minute pockets of time landed me As in both my courses last term. 25 minutes is more doable and less intimidating. Thank you for these videos!
Omgggg 23 seconds ago!! Now I’ll enjoy this with my breakfast before I start my own studying!! Thankyouuuuuu Jade! Love your videos so much! So motivating 😍
You truly are an inspiration Jade, another great video. Concerning the social systems I beleive they should be a baseline and the rest can be spontaniety. I think it important to be intentional about our actions. My best friend lives in Portugal and we call once a week and then send messages throughout the week. We have been doing this for a while now, and have been best friends for nearly 10 years. Hopefully I can see her in person soon ,when all the restrictions finally end.
Location is my biggest motivator but I don’t have a place to work outside my house. Because of covid local libraries are only allowing people in the library for 1 hour. I normally spend my whole day there so right now I am bound to my house. I would go to school and work but my school is a ways away and the time and money spent travelling is not worth it. And cafes are somewhere I cannot work, too loud. So I hope in the fall, that I can improve my location, I hope to go back to school in person. My solution to working at home is to find different areas of my house to work, I have a desk, I go to the kitchen/dining room table, the couch, or my bed. This works most times, just to change things up a bit.
Hello to you ! I really want to thank you for the subject and the quality of your channel ! I'm in Uni and I struggle a lot because of my anxiety with... everthing actually haha. I’ve been using notion this semester and I’ve fallen in love, but there’s just so much that I don’t know about it that I feel like could make my university life flow more efficiently!
such a really useful video, especially right now since it is exam season for me. During this period of studying, being at home etc it can be really easy to get distracted as you said. For this reason, i really like to use the Forest app which I think you've already heard of it. it is similar to the pomodoro technique but you actually plant a tree whilst studying. so, while you are studying, you are also helping the environment. how cool is that?!?! have a good day.
Love your videos :) I got really inspired to create good systems for myself in the future :) Academic, my athletic life, daily tasks :) Thank you so much :)

Hi Jade. Love this video and I hope you are doing well. 😊 I know that you are very busy so you might not even see this but I wanted to ask if you prefer academy (maybe you call it high school in England - I'm from Scotland) or University? I have had a hard time in school for as long as I can remember and am thinking about leaving early (you can leave at 16 here) and I was wondering if it does get better in higher education and if I should apply for college/uni. Thanks for reading, I will take all the advice I can get! :)
currently im trying to juggle studying,part-time job, driving lessons, gym and hanging out with my friends and it's not the easiest thing to do without a system oof im gonna try tho btw could you recommend me a decent app for flashcards?
