Hi Nathan, this whole year has been really tough for me because there were a lot of transitions during this period in my life. But I blamed myself for being a failure or a lazy mess. How to create a productive study schedule
~Have a template or create one
: divide the template into eight columns the first column for the week and the rest seven for the days of the week
~ know what timing works for you, block it out
Personally- 6am-6:15am wake up, to do list
    6:15-6:55 gym exercise, workout
    Study- 7am- 10am [11-12pm- test hour]
    School- 10:00-3:15pm
30 min breaks- use the break time to REVISE what you studied in the class
    Tuition hours- 4-8pm ie 4-5:30 and 6-7:45
~keep the blank spaces blank. You need flexibility, catching up or just taking some time off
~you have to be ON IT. don’t give up your schedule if you mess up a little bit. Make up for it, reschedule, and substitute.

    Build a consistent daily schedule
Pick a time to wake up and go to bed and stick to it
Plan your day in 16 hours span
Get some physical activity in the morning to boost your energy and head clarity
Get in a good head space through prayer and be slow and intentional during your first hour
Create natural breaks in between work/study blocks (such as eating, exercise, walk, etc)
Decide when you want to go on your laptop, on your phone, etc. until you gain enough mental clarity not to do it automatically
When do I start and stop doing things
Devote your weekends to creation mode
Schedule one day a week to not have any work and recharge; rest IS productive
    Work smart rather than hard

I love the organization but I find it a bit unrealistic to not only wake up early every day (including weekends), go to class and study right after each class. Where is the time for a break if you’re studying right after every course, every single day, and STILL waking up early on weekends and doing this. This is how students get burned out by mid semester

    • @majaa5336

The EU credit system for universities says that students are meant to study about 8h per day including weekends, so this is really not very unrealistic.

    • @user-cg3vw1rf4i
      @user-cg3vw1rf4i 2 ปีที่แล้ว +35

Exactly. I have class every day at 7 am and get 'free' of my classes at 5 pm and then study until midnight. Third week of this semester and I am already totally exhausted. Perhaps this could work for people with excellent mental health and that are really motivated, but for us who struggle with depression/anxiety, small breaks are our only source of serotonin. Plus, I barely sleep 5 hours per day there's no way I'm sacrificing my sleep in the weekends. It's really good in theory, just that real life is way messier.

Hi Nathan, I am working full time and doing my masters right now. This video really helped me figure out my scheduling. I work 9-5. This video helped me nail down the rest of my schedule.. I am also an early riser and have been able to alternate between 6am gym time and 6am study time for the days where I don't go to the gym. Also - building in natural breaks - like doing some chores after work, before starting my studies - also helped nail things down. And good reminder to take at least 1 day off per week when possible! Good luck with your studies :)

This is actually really helpful. Today, my professor was talking about setting up a schedule to keep ourselves accountable. Even though he mentioned it briefly, and I've never been great at allocating my time properly, I think that this might be the thing to give me structure in my day. I love how you touch on being flexible with the schedule (in cases where it might not be possible to follow through it), and how you describe your schedule since it gives me an idea for how I could structure my own day. For sure, I need to work on my enjoyment time since there's too much of that in my current so-called "non-schedule" XD

Wow I just loved this video! I will admit that I am definitely not the best student nor am I the most motivated and I never really cared much about school but when I got into university last year I decided to dedicate more time to studying, however I felt like I failed miserably, I set really high standards for myself that I knew I attain but only if I studied really hard for it, which I didn't, so I completely lost all the motivation that I had, but after I stumbled upon this video I feel like I got a little bit of this motivation back, and I feel like you gave somewhere to start, I will definitely try out your advice, but I will take it easy this time, I will probably not be studying as much as you but I will try to be a bit more productive and stop procrastinating so much and maybe one day I can be as much of a good student as you and hopefully my second year doesn't end up being a disappointment too, thank you so much for this video, I wish all the best, also you just got a new sub! ❤

i used to get all a's and b's through school and to get good grades i would always do the assignments either right after class during extra time in class or during lunch and i never had to do them at home - the past few years i fell into a pretty bad depressive episode that felt neverending and i felt no purpose at school anymore so i went from an A/B student to being a C/D/F student
im 17 now and am now working toward getting my GED. i have been trying to step up and create a schedule that works for me when i saw this. this video was super helpful and im gonna use some of this stuff while creating my schedule (and ill probably continue to use this method through college as well just bc it resonated w me do much)
thank you sm for these tips

I love this system because it feels like it can really work for different kinds of people. I'm not a morning person and I'm resistant to structure even though I really need it, but this is such an intuitive way to approach time management with school. I've been looking to add more routine to my days and I'm excited to give this a shot!

@@dw-qs2vn I am cramming 2 weeks of classes in the span of 3 days for my pharmacy class and I realize that I do work better at night because I spend some time in the mornings taking breaks but that also ends up with me getting 3 hours of sleep some days. So I'm gonna try see if I get a chance to fix my schedule because lets me honest, its been a cascade of falling behind in one class and catching up to ever since the first exam I took.

Really great video, I was following along with the template as you were talking and was really surprised how well my classes fit in for a block of studying afterwards! I'm very bad for falling behind when it comes to those practice problems but I think this is really gonna help! This semester my classes run for most of the day and I lose a couple hours because I don't live near/on campus but even though the schedule looks really packed it's _definitely_ gonna be a better use of my time, thanks so much!
