Mayor's controversial bid to bring policing powers under one umbrella

The West Midlands Mayor could take over responsibility for the oversight of Policing in the West Midlands after formally requesting the role of Police and Crime Commissioner is scrapped.
If the Home Secretary agrees, the powers will be transferred to the Mayor's office after the next Mayoral election in May.
Andy Street says a rise in crime shows the current system isn't working, but the current PCC, Labour's Simon Foster, says the move amounts to a "hostile takeover" for purely political purposes.
