It's pretty clear to me that The General really does enjoy these invigorating chats with you Jason.
General Hodges has been crystal clear from the start. His logic and reasoning are SOUND.
I wish more people (including the US Administration) would LISTEN to him.
Great work Jason! Thank you for your efforts and solid journalism!! Slava Ukraini.

But facts remain facts. Part of what he's saying is realistic and part is pure fantasy.
Take his statements regarding Black Sea trade, for example. In order for Russia to be incapable of threatening Ukraine's trade, Russia would have to lose It's entire Black Sea coast, not just the parts they took from Ukraine, as Hodges suggests. While Sevastopol has a very nice harbour, it's not the only one, And as the last couple of years have demonstrated, you don't need an actual navy to threaten shipping.
But, hey, instead of actually using your brain at least a little, it's far easier to simply write "Bot!". Ain't that right, precious?

A nation recently considered a world superpower has lost half a million soldiers, which it can ill afford due to precipitously declining birthrates, and well over half of it's not-so-illustrious arsenal; it's navy and air force have been almost fully neutralized, and it's army is virtually powerless to advance. All this while facing a much smaller military, with no navy and very little air force. And yet there are still those who believe Russia is winning.

No, it's the Russian troll farms. Tens of thousands of people in Russia probably a lot more, because Putin admitted he spent 1 billion rubles just in 2022 on one specific troll farm, and there are hundreds more than that. So, this is very very serious and hardly anyone knows about it.
One troll manages 10 accounts, write 150-200 comments per day, is fluent with English, told to pose as Americans and westerners who vote. They comment in groups of 2-30 (web brigades) so they can reply to each other. They convince people that lots of people somehow share their views or belief of certain ideas or claims.
Russia practices Oligarchy. But it's not localized to Russia, it's a global Oligarchy network of companies. Oligarchy is when the government gives it's money to business owners, they will become billionaires (always). In exchange for their obligation to promote Russian interest, and to participate with the other Oligarchs in constantly cycling money to keep it moving, so it can be moved anywhere without raising questions. You can imagine how effective it is in the Capitalism system, so, American politicians and influencers and business owners are very, very very easy for Russia to control. The Russian troll farms are just the "comment support" part of the process. They don't miss anything, this is how the Russia manages it's interest at home and over seas.
I've been following these troll farms so years. It was through that process that I learned about the Oligarchy. The Oligarchy and the Russian troll farms are always in sync, they move together.

what always never made sense to me, and still does not today, is the comparison of surface area.
USA = 9.8 million sq km
Russia (2024 borders) = 17.1 million sq km
Meaning: Russia is almost double the size of USA
With that much land and all those resources (gas, oil, soil, metals, wood, coal, water, space, etc. etc. etc.) how bad and incompetent must governments be to be worse in every socio-economic aspect for over 2 centuries?
If Russia would have been governed wise by good leaders (and I'm not thinking about superb leaders, just the average US-EU-leader from the past decades), it would have dominated the world after WWII and would today be number 1.
Why are the USA so much more powerful? Because a strong democracy frees its people and when people are happy and not constantly robbed by kleptocrats, economies and nations thrive.

She is a nationalist, irridentist, imperialist (self-described!) and just wants the whole old R@55'n Empire back and doesn't give a damn how many men die in the process. On BOTH sides. I think only massive inflation could curb her fanaticism. I keep telling her that if she weren't such a great WIFE, I would have divorced her long ago.

To put Russian casualties in perspective, they have lost more soldiers in these two and a half years of war than the USA did during all of WW2. Granted, WW2 lasted less than 4 years for the USA, but it is a staggering number.

Ben has had this same talking point for the past two years. Unfortunately, the pusillanimous leaders of the EU, NATO and the US are not thinking this way. Obviously the EU, NATO and the US are militarily and economically stronger than Russia. But why is not the West providing more and current equipment to the Ukrainians. I’m guessing the West is planning on Ukraine and Russia to continue fighting until both have drained their manpower and equipment. I can’t imagine another reason why Ukraine is not getting better support from the West.

They have more major cities than that. But st petersburg and moscow are the centrepieces of the ruling Rus ethnic group. The Ural mountains demarcate ‘european russia’ from ‘asian russia’ and the European russians see the asian russians as lesser people. And they see the muslims of the caucasus the same way.
What you have to remember is that the Mongol hordes appointed the prince of moscow as the Mongol’s tax collector in the west of the horde’s territory. Thats how the mongols ruled - hands off, but hand over the taxes you owe -including slaves - or there will be terror. That elevated the duchy of muscovy over the other western mongol territories. When the mongol hordes collapsed the duchy of muscovy basically reverse conquered the mongol territory, eventually butting into the persians and chinese conquering old mongol territory from the other direction. But under the mongols they all learned the same system of ruling - ignore the outer territories and let them do what they want as long as they pay their taxes. If they rebel, rain terror on them. Its not a coincidence that the problem countries ofthe world today - russia, china, iran, are all former territories of the mongol empire. Its also not a coincidence that the smaller countries that broke away from the soviet union are trying to throw off that mongol style system of rule by terror.
