One of my favorite hobbies is counting how many times people say, "I never knew that was a Queen song!" :)
I don't think I've ever heard a Queen song and not recognized it, but I suspect that's more about my parents' record collection than anything else. (As an aside: when they pass my brother can have everything but the records. I'll help him prep the house for sale or rent or whatever as long as I get the records and hopefully my dad's Time Life Motown CDs, but that might be a fight, lol.)

Then Michael Jackson persuaded them to release it as a single which they obviously did. Good thing MJ did persuade them cause it was one of their biggest hits.

John Deacon was always forthright about writing this song (It was written on bass) as an homage to Bernard Edwards' (Chic) bass-driven song, Good Times (also used for Rapper's Delight). He wanted to put a rock spin on the composition. Good shit.
I remember they would play this on the R&B radio stations in Philly. I suppose they did all over the country.

This song was played in all the clubs for years after it came out in 1980. It was always the last song and everybody(and I mean everybody)got up and danced. Those were some fun times and I miss them. They just don't write music like this anymore. : - ( Thank you for reacting to it.

This is one of those songs that “supposedly” had a satanic message if played backwards. My sister and I spun our 45 backwards for an hour. We were children and gullible. We couldn’t discern any message. Also, after watching the “Omen”, I checked her scalp when she was asleep for the number of the beast, just to be certain. Forty years later that movie was remade and I told her what I did. She laughed and said she checked my head too when I was sleeping.
Rocking with the family listening to another great hit by queen thats a great time and good vibes to me john deacon the bass player wrote this hit and it was number one on the us billboard hot 100 for three weeks and he built the amp that lead guitarist brian may used in the song to make those crazy sound effects i think it was called the deaky amp and brian may built his own guitar when he was younger with his dad and still uses it think he named it big red🔥🎶🔥

If you continue to do Queen, you will hit “Somebody to Love”. Most people rank the live in Montreal version Freddie’s best vocals ever. The live version in Milton Keynes is more improvisational, and he really goes to church. Song was inspired by Aretha Franklin. But it’s one of Queens best loved songs.

When I had boys choir in the 7th grade, the teacher allowed us to bring a single song on a record to play for the class, and a possibility for us to sing it. Yep, you guessed it. Someone brought “Another One Bites the Dust” and the the look on the choir teachers face, after we listened to it was priceless. Yay!! THE QUEEN RABBIT HOLE. You won’t regret it!! You should see this live in Wembley 1986. Awesome! Written by the bassist John Deacon & thank goodness MJ encouraged Queen to release it. Michael loved Queen & was a big fan of Freddie. He would go backstage when Queen was in town for a concert.
You should also check out COOL CAT or PAIN IS SO CLOSE TO PLEASURE kind of a Motown feel. SOMEBODY TO LOVE was written by Freddie inspired by Aretha Franklin. Definitely do it live in Montreal 1981. Great reaction!!
