You could do it a few different ways. You could route the audio for both to separate channels in your recording software and then just mute/unmute in post production. Or (simpler) you could simply toggle the mute switches on and off while you're doing the comparison. Each channel has a mute button on the front that highlights red when it's muted. That would let you just have one recorded audio source coming out of the vocaster and you just hit the buttons while you're comparing.

Agree. It's perfect for that. I use mine more for solo stuff, but the podcasts I've done have been super easy to use it on.
