Hi, I just bought Evo Sp8 and connected it via adat to my Apollo x8. I would like to use it to insert external analog outboards. I use Logic as a daw... I tried to insert them with Logic I/O but I have a lot of background noise and I can't see the peak meter trend on the daw (when Logic I/O is inserted). Am I doing it wrong? Thanks
Hello there, if you haven't already, can you please send a message to support@audient.com so we can help you with this. If you can include a few screenshots of your setup in Logic and the UAD software that would be great.
Hi, do the EVO Rack Kit for Evo 16 it the SP8? Thanks and also i wil be using the SP8 with my Apollo Quad Firewire. So whats the propose for me of the USB C on the SP8? Just for updates? And when do i know i need to update if i dont use the software? Thank you
Hi there, could you re-amp (or route to analog gear) from DAW out through adat outputs through SP8 analog outputs? Much appreciated and great informative videos. Cheers!
Yes, you can send audio from your DAW, out of your Interface via ADAT to the SP8 and then play it out off the SP8's analog outputs. To set this up, on the SP8, press down the main control to enter the setup menu, scroll down to Output Routing and set it to "Digital".
Hi, I wound up buying the SP8 even though I didn't have a strong use case for it. I was going to return it but it wasn't worth the hassle. Now I want to use it for mixing in Dolby Atmos. Can the 8 outputs be used for connecting to powered monitors?
You can use the SP8 to feed an ATMOS setup. However, the SP8 doesn't have a volume control for the outputs so you'd need to use either an external monitor controller or control the monitoring volume on your computer. If you haven't already, I'd also check out the Audient ORIA which is an interface/monitor controller designed from the ground up for ATMOS and Immersive audio setups
If I use smart gain on a professional drum recording in one day, how do I maintain the same drum gain on the other day of recording? Would I have to save a setup in the evo16 software?
Hello there, the easiest way to do this is to save the configuration. You can do this in the EVO mixer app by going to File > Save. You can then easily recall the settings by going to File > Open.
At 44.1kHz and 48kHZ, the second Optical port will just mirror the first so you can send the same audio to two sources if required. This won't work at 88.2kHz or 96kHZ however.
question, can you use the anilog outs into the anilog in's of another interface? I want to be able to use this with an interface that has anilog inputs... if I use this SP8, can I get whatever gains from the preamps through the 8 outputs into the inputs of the other interface? hope that makes sense.
Yes, you can set the SP8 to operate as an analogue pre-amp with the pre-amp outputs being sent to the analogue outputs of SP8 in order to feed another 8-channel interface.
Hello, you can use two SP8's alongside a host interface that supports ADAT such as the EVO 16 to give you 16 additional channels. The SP8's will not work just by themselves and need to be connected to a Host interface.
Yes, the EVO SP8 can be connected to a Sono via ADAT to provide up to 8 additional input channels. You will not have access to the remote control features you would get however if connected to an EVO 16.
Hey guys, what would be the best way to expand the outputs on my id14? I know that it isn't possible to use it as a main Interface via ADAT. But maybe as a slave to a Evo SP8?
Hello there, Its not possible to expand the iD14's output using the SP8 I'm afraid as the iD14 doesn't have ADAT outs. If you are on macOS, you could use the iD14 and an EVO 16 together as an aggregate device?
Hi guys I’ve got my sp8 for a few days now . I’ve used it recording from my ferrofish B4000 and it sounds great. It was connected via my focusrite Scarlett 18i20 2nd gen. I have a distortion pedal and a spring reverb pedal a klark Teknik eqp -kt , TLA 50/50 valve compressor and pre amp and which I connected to the sp8 they were off and the focusrite kept have cut outs and even mix control went blank. Has anyone else experienced this? I’m going to try using via Apollo twin via Adat. It will mean less ins but. I hope it’s better than the failed experience I had with focusrite
Hello, I hope you get better operation with the new interface, if you do need any assistance with your etup however, please send a message to support@audient.com and we'll be happy to help!
HI. I have Apollo twin Usb and i bought Evo Sp8 mic preamp and klark teknik eqp-kt. How can i connect them and how to set up? I connected Apollo to Evo Sp by optical cable? I put Clock sourse Adat, Digital input Adat in UAD Console settings. I put Clock source digital, Output source digital in Evo Sp8. Which one should choose? Klark teknik is doesn't have adat only have analog inputs, outputs. Please help me. Thanks.
As far as I'm aware, the Apollo Twin doesn't have an Optical output so its not possible to send audio from the Apollo Twin to the SP8. I'd recommend connecting the Klark Technic to outputs 3+4 on the Apollo and then bring it back in on either the two inputs of the Apollo or the SP8. You can the just use an I/O plug-in to add it has a hardware effect in your DAW.
Am excited. I have just bought Evo 16 and 2 X SP8
Congrats on the new expander! Looking to try the Evo System in our new Studio. Would love to discus this with someone at the Audient team !

Can I connect two sp8 together for 16 inputs at 48k? Or does it just mirror each other? Also, what is the name of the desk in the video.

Can i use second EVO16 as a converter connected via adat to my first EVO 16 ?
We wouldn't recommend using a 2nd EVO 16 to expand another EVO 16. If you need more inputs and outputs on your EVO 16, we'd recommend the SP8 instead.
is it compatible on the device audient sono.
Yes, the EVO SP8 can be connected to a Sono via ADAT to provide up to 8 additional input channels. You will not have access to the remote control features you would get however if connected to an EVO 16.

How are you trying to use the Klark Technic EQ? As a EQ while tracking your inputs or as a hardware effect in your DAW?
@@weareevoaudio Thank you for reply. It's mean hardware effects in my daw. How can i connect them? Is it possible to work together? Thanks.
