Love your work, I built a Murphy bed out of white oak plywood about 3 years ago using their Create-A-Bed kit, at the time they supplied a video on DVD/Blu Ray. I added a couple of side cabinets and crown molding too, and whereas I’m envious of your shop space and tools, I can share with your audience that you can build the basic bed and frame with a circular saw and hand drill and some hand tools. For mine I used a miter saw for the crown molding and a router for the inlaid hardware, but even that could be chopped in with a jammer and chisel if you’re skilled enough. Totally agree about the instructions, top class!
I built one one these and found the plans to be great. The only thing I found was the wooden slat between the feet was a little on the weak side. It seemed to be a little too flexible and cracked at one end. I made a replacement piece that worked, but would consider a metal bar or pipe to be better. Very nice work.
Congratulations on a very nice project. I built one nearly 20 years ago, using the previous version of the Create-a-Bed kit. Our only complaint about the bed is that the mattress sits a bit lower than I would like. I am planning to build another one for our next house, which has 9' ceilings. I'm wondering if you think we could make a taller surround and raise the pivot point hardware to make the bed sit higher. My sticking point is how to make the flip-up legs taller. I may have to buy the old style kit and make longer latch assembly/legs.
Great video thanks for sharing. He mentioned I think it was "ruglue" a few times. I found a PVC pipe glue by that name but I am assuming I heard wrong. Anyone know what glue that is that works on prefinished panels? Thanks!
Do you prefer the mirka or the festool sander ? I’m debating on wich one to buy and I’m lost 😅 I mainly build tables and bigger furniture . Love your videos and I learned quite a lot from watching you thank you for putting all this content out there
I make doors and made panel clamps from Unistrut. There’s multiple videos on YT showing how to make them and they are inexpensive compared to buying black pipe for pipe clamps. You can make a 10 foot clamp from 12 gauge Unistrut for under $40 and they don’t flex.
Beautiful woodwork. Interestingly, I have been following another woodworker that is also in the process of a multipart video series showing the design and construction of a differently styled Murphy bed, which will also feature black walnut butcherblock tables and cabinets (made largely using Baltic birch plywood). The third part of his series ( th-cam.com/video/Ln4XJ4wIb7o/w-d-xo.html ) was published a few days ago. Some of your viewers might also enjoy watching his video series.
Glad you did that work for Jason. We learned about your channel and it is great.
Yup, that's how I found out about N/E too.

That’s awesome! Thanks for sharing.
Made one about 15 years ago. Great project. Still in use today, great space saver for a guest bedroom
yes very good instructions, easy to build, I have made about 6 of them for clients.
Quite well done! I was surprised to see you cut through 3/4" ply with that radius template in a single pass!

It is called roo glue. I get it on Amazon
Looks like they've improved their system since the last time I built one. I thought the Hafele one was going to decapitate me.
Are you able to make adjustments or detach the piston with the whole apparatus mounted on the wall?

Great video
As usual
Glad you enjoyed it
I have extra pipe and couplers to make my clamps very long. Didn't even cost much.
Is Rubio really as easy as you make it look?! Do you have to condition the wood first? Thx.
Another good review😅
🤙
Great build. As luck would have it, im bidding a murphy bed now. Can i ask hiw many hours you think you spent on this build?
Great video! Curious, what is the depth of your cabinet?
They are 15 7/8” deep
Would you consider making a king murphy bed or do you think that would be pushing it too far?
What kind of glue did you say you use for pre-finished wood? Roo glue?
Yup. Roo glue

I’ve never tried unistrut for panel clamps!
What was the cost of all the wood that was used?
Where do you get your? Ru glue?
Roo glue. I get it on Amazon
What color of Rubio did you use?
What is the glue you mentioned for gluing pre-stained wood? I will be building one of these beds. Thanks!
It is called roo glue. I get it on Amazon
I hope Jason’s wife over at Bourbon Moth doesn’t see this video. I’m sure it will give her ideas for hubby to do 😂.
Beautiful woodwork.
