- Back in November I headed to the Lake District for two weeks of camping, hiking & wild swimming. Come along with me for some beautiful low-level walks along the Ullswater Way starting in Patterdale, Easedale Tarn from Grasmere and some very cold swimming in Buttermere Lake!

Probably my favourite place in the Lakes, so special!
Good to see Sour Milk Gill in all of its glory on this whistle-stop tour of the lakes. That view of Buttermere is iconic. Amazingly you appeared to swim uphill!

Thank you, what scenery just stunning, the cold is such an amazing location for the health of the mind I find, I have to start the day with hard exercise and then 4 mins of cold water, so energised and focused for the day, great medication.

I really must visit the Lake District! I've been recommended so many places to visit there - but yet found the time to explore. It looks like a walkers and photographers paradise to explore. You captured the autumn colours beautifully. Thank you for convincing me to finally visit!

Even in the cold and rain the scenery and colours are spectacular Christine. Fabulous walking routes too and Buttermere I may have mentioned before haha is my favourite place in the Lakes. I take it the boat you were on was the one from Howtown to Glenridding after your lakeshore walk. The perfect return trip to the warmth and a well deserved Cuppa ☕🍰

I’ve been following your channel for about a week now and I’ve been loving the content. It’s definitely inspired me to get back into hiking. Grasmere was a family favourite as a child so it’s great to see it captured even in the rain!

Lovely to see you out and about again. I recognised the tea room in Grasmere, been in there several times, fantastic cakes. We’ve done the walk to Easedale Tarn many times, generally during the summer months so Sour Milk Gill usually no more than a trickle, and during August full of school kids, can’t be too nasty to them, apparently I used to be one😄😆. We often go up the other way from the A591 to Alcock Tarn, lots less people and I have seen some swimming going on. Talking of which that must have been a bit of a challenge swimming in Buttermere?🥶😰 Must have been pretty cold, amazingly just that same spot was on TV this morning with “Robson Green's Weekend Escapes” he was trying his hand at textile art.

Yes they do the best cakes, always stock up for my hikes on my way up when I visit! Oo thanks for the recommendation, haven’t done that route before and the lack of crowds does sound appealing 😊 swim in Buttermere was refreshing! Don’t mind the cold, as always feel energised afterwards! It’s a great spot so not surprised, probably one of my faves in the Lakes 😍 thanks Graham, glad you enjoyed the video 🫶🏻
A few years back I was with an old walking pal and we climbed Red Screes on the hottest day of the year. We came down soaked in sweat and sat by Ullswater, I could not believe the heat and decided to go for a swim. In I went wearing my best boxers and trying to look dignified, bravely waded in. Having just watched this lovely film I cannot help but reflect how unglamorous I must have looked in comparison !!!!!!!
Ullswater is also a great spot for cooling off, sounds like you have lovely memories of a day well spent in the Lakes! Thanks Paul for the kind words, glad you enjoyed the video 🫶🏻
