    TEC stuff is very good and so sensibly priced compared to some of the overpriced tat that comes from
    Italy for example ! ( sorry but I've had some "Brand Name" Italian silencers in the past and they were poorly made
    and very expensive ! )...
    Whilst more expensive ,Scorpion Exhausts are also superb quality and made in the UK by a very genuine company .
    I ordered a silencer for my elderly mate who managed to get the model of his bike wrong so it didn't fit . Scorpion
    invited him to bring the bike to their factory . They supplied another correct can AND fitted it for him free of charge
    ... fantastic service .

    TEC makes really quality parts at unbelievably low prices. I have the stinger 2 into 1 and love it. Still has the throaty sound but it really did add mid range torque and was easily worth the price. Excited to hear how these are. I really do miss the twin pipes but didn't like the chrome to brushed look I had.

    I bought my big bore headers a while ago and only got around to fitting them yesterday.
    I got the polished one's from Hitchcock's.
    I've got the same silencer's as you and your not going to believe how good this combination sounds.
    Haven't test riden the bike yet.
    You have to remove the old crush washers, they're a pain to get out.
    Take care and stay safe mate.

      Hi Mate, They sound very very good….to my ears… not sure the neighbours or MOT man will agree though. Think I will have to make some baffles for the exhausts now, don’t want to be too antisocial!! Re the Gaskets, TEC advise to fit the new ones on top of old as they are so well seated so that is what I have done. Cheers

    • @paulstoker7650
      @paulstoker7650 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      They are a bit loud, I'm surprised that they advise you to leave the old gaskets in. The new washers are exactly the same as the one's fitted at the factory. I removed the old washers.

    • @paulstoker7650

      I'm thinking about buying some of the baffle wrap and adding an extra layer. That'll tone it down a bit.

    I've just had a pair delivered but won't be fitting them for a week or so. I have the TEC Canon silencers which are fantastic. Customer service etc is great and prices are keen too.
    If you fit the big bore pipes you really need to install the fuel booster plug to remove the risk of running too lean a mix and potentially damaging the head, valves (based on a few engineers advice).

    • @DormanDiaries
      @DormanDiaries  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Colin, yea I’ve got the booster plug on did it with the filter, primarily for that reason.

    • @MrKdr500
      @MrKdr500 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      bikes are already to lean from the factory to meet emissions, fit a powertronics fuel controller and you'll realize just how lean it was.

  • @daveinwla6360

    It would be interesting to test the effect of disconnecting the Booster Plug when just the DNA air filter is fitted,
    and then again when both the DNA filter and TEC exhaust system are fitted. I expect that the Booster Plug
    becomes an essential item when both are fitted - for smooth acceleration coming off idle and for popless
    deceleration.

    • @DormanDiaries
      @DormanDiaries  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes would be an interesting test, I do recall having a slight issue before fitting the booster plug when I just had the rear cans I think. Cut out like they do when lean. I had a crf that was terrible until I’d fitted a fuel programmer.

    I am sure thec "Tec" exhaust will prove as beneficial to the bike as the Hitchcock ones have have been, and £100 less painful !! 😎

    I hope you have better luck than I did. I was just in the garage trying to fit mine, combined with the Tec Cannon silencers. After spending a significant amount of time fiddling with it, the right hand side simply will not physically fit on my bike. So the parts will be going back, meaning I will eat $170 in shipping charges. This is the last straw for the bike, too. Mine has been far more temperamental than I'd like, in spite of always being garaged and babied through the break-in process.

    • @DormanDiaries
      @DormanDiaries  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I had a slight issue with the right mount at the bottom. Just had to tweak mine a bit to bring it more upright so the bolt lined up nicely. Nothing major though, have another look not worth sending back if yours the same.

    • @markfortin8286
      @markfortin8286 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DormanDiaries I was able to get the OEM silencers on yesterday afternoon. This morning I got the Tec silencer on the left side with some fussing. Ar this point I was determined to get the right side on. I got it, but it was far more 'square peg in a round hole' than I was comfortable with. Nothing appears to be damaged, so I guess all's well that ends well.

    • @markfortin8286
      @markfortin8286 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@relevation0The two big problems I had were a fork seal that failed almost immediately (I think it was 600 miles from new), and the terrible battery they equipped it with. If it dipped below 5 degrees celsius over night, more often than not the bike would not start. Even if it had been on a battery tender. Sometimes I could get it going by putting a space heater blowing on it for a few hours. I was not impressed with Royal Enfield North America, as they had apparently not imported any spare parts. Those of us that were early adopters of the bike back in 2019 were pretty much on our own. At least in my region of the country. I called all the dealers that were within 250 miles of me, and none of them had parts. The three year warranty was more theoretical than practical. I was able to get the front brake recall taken care of, but even that took a few months of being on a waiting list at the dealer. Make of all that what you will!

    Update after test ride.
    A bit too loud, would be annoying on a long ride so I'm definitely going to add more wrap to the baffles.
    Are you getting a lot of snap crackle and pop when you come off the throttle.
    I've got the same exaust and the fuel booster and DNA filter too.
    Lots more mid range but around town I had to use small amounts of throttle to keep the racket down.
    Stay Safe.

    • @DormanDiaries
      @DormanDiaries  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m not sure you will find the wrap will make much difference it didn’t on Kjs single can, enfields may be different. I had to weld a washer in to hers inside the end cap to make a difference.

    • @paulstoker7650
      @paulstoker7650 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm going to wait and see what you do with your silencer's. As a temporary measure I'm putting the standard silencer's onto my stainless steel header pipes. That'll keep me going until I save up for some of those Canon silencer's.

    • @DormanDiaries
      @DormanDiaries  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@paulstoker7650 - I’ve welded some washers in end of mine this weekend. They don’t look as good as the nice big holes 🕳 🕳 but they do the job, you can now ride through villages without getting angry looks from all the locals. I took the end caps off pit them pointy end down, hit the inside of the hole rim in 3 places with a small cold chisel and sit the washer in with another below to make it rebate and tack welded in 3 places. Looks neat as can’t see any weld from the outside.

      Hi mate, not intending to, I’ve got a booster plug, hopefully that’s sufficient to stop any lean issues. May have to revisit if I get any lean signs. Not chasing power, I got these more for the stainless and lightness.

    It is nice then this pipe are "big bore" but end of pie which is connected with muffler is "small bore", diameter is reduced, this not make a sense....The laws of physics apply, a pipe has as much permeability as its narrowest point.....

    At the beginning when you’re chilling by the pipes sitting on the floor, it looks like you should be holding a glass of wine as well haha.
    The pipes look great and it’s a good point about rusting!! I did not insider this.
    I will miss the fake finned exhaust attachment part at the top of the originals though.
