Sounds like I might have watched one or two out of chronological order. My bad was following a playlist I thought was in order of release. Hope you enjoy regardless! Thanks for watching!
@@LazyGamer_X Yeah the trailers over-sold him a bit. Made me think his passive would be turning into a black smoke when he was about to die. His original ult was out of place because of that.
I think everyone can appreciate Saturn's use of chapters/timestamps on videos. It makes a viewing experience so much better especially for longer videos with sections which can be skipped without missing important content. (Such as checking the playlist)
Big fan of the game myself so maybe a bit biased, but the trailers and cinematic they put out are top tier. You get to know all the characters much better through playing the game with all their quips and voice lines, but everyone has their own unique personality and relationships with one another. Could easily be made into a very good show. Cool to see people react to them who have never played the game and still find them entertaining
The Story from the Outlands are just the stories of the characters like them before they joined the Apex games. It mainly focuses on one character at a time (I'm not an expert, so someone please correct me if I am wrong)
LOVE APEX LORE!!!! I have a playlist on my channel that has all of them in release order and a few aditional lore drops! Apex was my biggest highshool hyperfixation, so excited to see you get into the story !!!
The cinematics for Apex are awesome. The game can be fun too, its not the most beginner friendly and is overall in kind of a rough spot at the moment BUT it can still be fun despite its issues, Im curious if you would ever be interested in giving it a try. You likely wouldnt be affected by any of the issues honestly. Also its cool how you picked up quite a bit about the character from the cinematics, they do a great job at that Also, the new tank hero for Overwatch is available to try starting today for this weekend only, if you are interested!
you should watch the launch trailers first, then stories from the outlands! it seems like the playlist you watched has everything in it and not in a chronological order. but still it was nice to see you reacting, im in love with this game. if you have some questions about the lore or legends, i will be glad to explain
I think you should do the trailers in chronological order too so it makes a lot more sense I noticed you looked confused half the time lol it’s bc the trailer you started with is wayy more recent than the rest
You should definitely continue to watch all 23 season launch trailers plus the remaining Stories From The Outlands videos which are basically stories centered around 1 character A great start for Apex Legends lore
Revenant doesn't believe he's human by the time he's in the game because some of circuitry malfunction from the glass shard in his neck so he knows he's a robot, and the reason he was made to still believe he was human even after becoming a robot was so one of the companies from Titanfall could keep full control over him
If you want more context to the characters and get to know them more, Apex Legends has “Meet the Legends” videos you can take a look at. I’d advise you mix the videos in as you go through the seasons (you got up to Revenant in this video, so I recommend you not go past him until you get to the other seasons).
Okay some comtext for the last one since it looks a bit confusing revenant (Caleb Cross) was originally a super lethal hitman working for the syndicate however hammond robotics which is the main bad company the majority of the time pretty much bought him and assimilated him via the simulacrum program which is the process of taking someones conscience and putting it into a robot body or in revenants case infinite robot bodies so that he can be manipulated into doing hits for hammond robotics to kill anyone they deem a threat all while caleb cross/ revenant was under the impression that they were still human and still doing his regular old hits for the syndicate because hammond programmed him that way until he pulled out the shard of glass in his neck after he killed lobas father which cut whatever program/ system was making him think he was still human and after realising that hammond robotics turned him into an immortal monster and used him for over 300 years he went on a rampage taking out anything to do with hammond which is why he targetted forge as he was heavily supported by hammond robotics which rev wasnt too happy about but eventually he gives up hunting down hammond robotics and starts a new journey to find his severed head and destroy it so that he can finally die as he is immortal and everytime he dies he wakes up in one of his millions of spare bodies but to get more info on it he joined the Apex games to satiate his blood thirst while also asking around and prodding to find where the location of his head is 😊
So in the first "stories of the outlands" you watched. You got to see lifeline and octane who both use medication in their ability usage. Mind you that all the "Stories of the outlands" have the legend featured looking quite a bit different. Each Story correlates with a Legend and the legends tend to get skins that portray how they looked in the cinematic. Some of these stories of the outlands are released with a new legend, but some are just giving new lore depth to old legends. So I'll go through them real quick for the ones you watched and hopefully this can answer some questions. - Family business - Lifeline (ft. Octane) - A father's letter - Wattson - Voidwalker - Wraith - Forever Family - Crypto - The Old Ways - Bloodhound (btw not a boy or girl they're non-binary to answer another question :) - Up close and personal is framed as a new legend introduction for "Forge" who never made the game. In reality it introduces Revenant. So you watched up to around season 4's launch and I'll give a little context for that (As a note you were right when you asked if Battle Charge was a season tagline) Pre season/Season 1 Wild Frontier: Apex Legends launched without any season, just the bare game. Then the game fully released with season one. Which added Octane. Season 2 Battle Charge: saw the introduction of plenty of map changes to King's Canyon and the introduction of Wattson. Season 3 Meltdown: Added a brand new map called "World's Edge" and a new legend named Crypto. Season 4 Assimilation: Added a lot of new locations and shook up the map of world's edge a lot and added a new Assault class Legend: Revenant. I'm looking forward to the rest of your reactions and hope I enlightened a little bit of context
I figured I'd add some explanation for each story as well to the best of my ability. - Family business sees Lifeline trying to escape the shadow and actions of her family name with the encouragement of Octane. - A father's letter is pretty self explanatory but Wattson's father died after she became a genius inventor. - Voidwalker shows wraith and all her other versions (Basically like a multiverse) the Voidwalker version of Wraith is seeking revenge on the people who tortured her but after achieving that goal passes the torch to the next version of Wraith who wants to find her purpose and who she really is. In looking for herself she joins the apex games. - Forever Family is basically an origin story for Crypto, losing his friend Mila who was the only family he ever had. - The Old Ways (My personal favorite) There is a great video that gives better explanation by "KEVTHEKING99-YT" but ill do my best to summarize what I understand. The old ways see's Bloodhound trying to get the blessing and guidance from their uncle and the allfather. It starts off with Bloodhound's dad running from the avalanche of lava anti-freeze caused by a massive explosion of the refinery we later see. Unfortunately the dad doesn't make it. Bloodhound is taken in by their Uncle and the old ways state that the evolution of technology (that caused the accident) is basically heresy as far as I understand. In the cinematic we see Bloodhound and their uncle Arthur 10 Winters (10 years) after the original accident. Uncle Arthur blames technology for his brother's death and uses it as justification for their new hunting ways. Uncle Arthur was previously an electrician but after the accident joined a hunting group and took some blame in being a technician when Bloodhounds father died. Now is Bloodhound's Trial. They must kill the prowler from the start of the cinematic or never come back. They find the prowler but it is eaten, but they can't go back now, they need to have something to bring back to their Uncle. So they go deeper looking for what killed the prowler they were originally hunting. They take the Charge rifle and keep it in hopes of being able to vanquish the massive monster and succeeds. They thought it wouldn't matter that it was killed with a gun because it had killed so many of their group but since their group refuses technology, They are shunned. They know better which is why they have an open mind for technology. They saw the charge rifle as a sign from the allfather and so they used it to kill a beast that killed so many innocents. At the end Bloodhound proves themselves and ways of technology to their people and most importantly their uncle. The end see's them finally crowned as the first Bloodhound and has gained the blessing & guidance of the allfather. (Which is personified by the Raven) As for assimilation I personally am not really familiar with the lore on that one and will have to look into it :P One thing you can generally notice with most of these stories is that the Legend has some sort of weapon or trinket shown. For example, Wraith's Kunai or Bloodhound's Tomahawk. These are shown in game as the rarest form of collectable: The Heirloom. Not every Legend has one (yet) but these Heirlooms have some relation to the Legend's lore and are a really cool in-game melee weapon that you can use to show off your affinity for a certain Legend. So Lifeline is shown with shock sticks (Which are the little drum sticks at the end of Family business) Voidwalker show's Wraith's Kunai The Old ways show's Bloodhound's Tomahawk I find it an awesome way to show off lore and character depth
So, lemme give you a little rundown: Lifeline - Combat medic with the drone; the girl from the Family Business Octane - Speedster who keeps sticking himself with drugs and has metal legs; the guy from Family Business. Bangalore - the Solider with the smoke launcher on her shoulder. Not a major focus in any of these trailers. Causic - Mad Scientist and fart-gas enthusiast. Not a focus Wattson - Electrical Engineer; the French girl from A Father's Letter and Season 2: Battle Charge Crypto - The Hacker, and the Korean guy from Forever Family. Also, he's the one who blew up the tower in Battle Charge and gave Wraith the thing she needed to unlock encrypted files in Voidwalker. Prominent alongside Mirage in Meltdown. Speaking of, Wraith: A Dimension hopping skirmisher; the woman with the glowy eyes and all the portals. She's prominent in the official launch cinematic and Voidwalker. Mirage - The Holographic jokester, the guy with the goggles almost as big as half of his attitude. Usually the butt of the joke, but is so earnest we love him anyway. Big in Meltdown. Bloodhound - Feral Hunter and the primary character in The Old Ways. Apex really expects people to watch the character trailers, because it doesn't tell you a thing. I'd almost suggest making a new playlist yourself and tackling them right off the Apex TH-cam page.
Yeah I just recommend finding a new playlist. There were a couple out of order and if you watch certain ones out of order things just make less sense because you'll by default have less information that might help you peace things together during certain trailers.
