Killer demo! One of the best I've seen. Love the split screen so we can see the settings on the amp. Nice job of showcasing cleans and dirty sounds from mild to wild, a variety of PU positions, demo'ing humbuckers and single coil sounds. The review has killer chops! Smooth and musical! Very impressed. Thank you! You guys are awesome!!
This is a great amp! I bought the head a few weeks back, then the slant 1x12 rec cab, then a week later the regular 1x12 mini rec cab. Thanks for putting up the video, more and more of them have been popping up in the last week, along with John Petrucci of Dream Theater playing the prototype.
Excellent review. The clean reminds me a lot like my Mesa express. I enjoyed your playing and after watching and listening I completely grasp the functions of this amp.
Great video, a few people have commented about hum on some mk5 25 videos but I think its just lights or other equipment in the room because I can assure anyone that wants to get this amp , there is no hum even at volume...............
guys, relax. they could have obviously used a noise gate in the review but they didn't to show you EXACTLY what you'll be buying out of respect for the customer.
N Stuff Music respect for the customer ? It's obviously something in there chain they messed up causing this as I had the V25 in the studio to compare against it's big brother and no such issues with buzz / hiss , ground loop or anything that could cause and no need for a gate. They really should have noticed the issue while making the video and realised it's not the amp. This doesn't show a accurate representation of the amp. No disrespect as other videos on here have been great but this would put a lot of people off.
there is no way to change reverb on/off with the footswitch, that was a bit of misinformation.....other than that, great video, great review of a hands down epic amplifier. I own one, as well as a Mark V 100W head.......the V:25 is every bit as amazing as it's huge brother. The MkV:25 is a homerun for Mesa. It is unimaginably versatile, it really brings to life the way one plays, and greatly lends itself to tone sculpting. If you are in the market for a Mesa, but do not need one of the huge heads, or one of the combos, I highly suggest getting one of these bad boys. it is worth ever red cent....and will provide the owner with infinite hours of tonal bliss. Get one!!!!
Footswitch for these amps can only switch channels and switch graphic EQ on or off. No switch for reverb. And no way to switch between 3 variations in each channel
Nice review!! Thanks! Great tones!!! I guess you could try more the gain variations on each channel, specially the clean/crunch. Would be nice to know how far it can get... :)
Great demo. I think you made a mistake with the back panel. You said for the speaker cabs “4 ohms a piece,” making a 2 ohm load. I think it’s 2 8 ohm cabs making it a 4 ohm load. Please verify. Thanks in advance.
I'm here to tell you that you can. This amp is a death machine. Just got mine a day ago and can't believe how tight and punchy it is. The mini recto and evh lbx are pretty focused in the bottom end too. Both have el84 power tubes. A 6l6 will take more juice to break up the lows but with a 1x12 and an isolation box you could mic this thing and play a stadium and never reach overload volume.
love the review! I've been stuck between getting this and the 35, is the solo feature on the 35s worth the extra money if I already have a boost and overdrive pedals? thanks
Nope. Sounds pretty good at low volumes. And you can get a pretty big sound on the 10w setting with very little master. It is a really loud amp though.
Great little amp, increible how mesa can get so much into this lunchbox . I have a mk 4 and this one , and to be honest the mk 5 25 is probably better. for most gigs it'll do the job but in a loud band it might struggle a little bit ."solution"........tell everybody else to turn down............of course now they have a 35 watt one which is just about perfect ...pretty fly guys..... but Im keeping the 25
+michael knight Hmm... I own this amp as well. It's a great piece of gear to own! I did an SPL test on it, in the 10 watt setting. It had it pushing almost 120db from about 15 feet away, so I'm sure it would keep up with the loudest of bands. Thanks for checking out the video!
Paul Bauer he's talking about the EQ, and it was an upside down V when he first messes with it, but that hardly means this guy is new to playing, that was a dumb comment on his part.
Seems like if they just cut down on all the amp channel modes and take out reverb they could come out with a few amps that are in the 800-$1000 price range new.
Amplifiers sometimes pick up noise like humming and buzzing. It's not necessarily something in the amp causing it. Single coil pickups are well known for picking up hum and buzz which is why people invented "humbuckers". It could be a ground loop between multiple devices plugged in. It could be a power cable crossing an audio cable in the wrong way. It could be a cable with poor shielding or shielding that's separating from the plug. They should have spent some time tracking down the source of the noise before recording.
DanY.36 yeah I totally understand how it can happen but have no idea why they let it in a demo video. Had the V25 in the studio to compare against it's big brother and had no buzz like that. They really should have done this better.
I have no idea what their studio setup is like but it can be frustrating to track down and eliminate noise. Sometimes hum eliminators don't seem to work either. I had some intermittent buzzing in my electric setup and went for weeks before I tracked it down to shielding that had come loose and separated from the plug. I got it as tight as possible and taped it from the outside of the jacket and the noise is gone. I've been recording my band live and have had my interface in my rack now for a month- it was dead quiet until Saturday night. I couldn't figure it out so I'll just remove it with software. There's so many cables in there it's going to be a nightmare to track down.
Did you like the amp? I'm not really into metal anymore but I'm intrigued by the size and weight and the DI possibilities. It seems like it would be great to walk into a club with a guitar and this thing in a bag with some pedals- especially in cities where parking is terrible like San Francisico.
humm and buzz was all wall to amp orientation coupled with the angle and proximity of the gibson. for humbuckers they sure are noisy garbage soundin... something to obviously annoy people, goal of my words are to say u did great, the placement of the gear should have had a perfectionist ausburger syndrome tech like me ;) id have it fixed so fast u would wonder what the hell im even doin lol
One of the better demoes. Thanks. Only wonder if this Mesa avoids sounding sterile. Interesting and instructional playing of the Wind Cries Mary. thanks ! If only you Americans could stop saying aaaa as you speak. -and . a bit les use of vib arm ?
Personally, I never like these kinds of demos, where the players strum really light and softly even when playing high gain, it makes the amp sound weak.
That was one of the most useful, informative demos I've ever seen. Covered the bases, didn't linger forever on one thing. Excellent job. Thank

Joe Satriani playing a Slash's guitar with one of the favourite John Petrucci's amp.
This is a great amp!

Really great review/demo! Shows just how incredibly versatile this amp is. Definitely my next amp purchase.
Excellent demo! Loved that you used a Les Paul, and that you didn't just go straight to full gain with no in-between.
A really excellent dem. Thanks.
This is one of those amps you can tell is top class. Guys, get one quick!! I cant afford it hahh
Wow, that's an oldie. I remember those from the 80s.
Excellent review, well done!
Great video, a few people have commented about hum on some mk5 25 videos but I think its just lights or other equipment in the room because I can assure anyone that wants to get this amp , there is no hum even at volume...............
Mine is quiet; no hum except at very high gain settings I would never use.
michael knight it is not a good room for videos. and always videos are made in horrid rooms
guys, relax. they could have obviously used a noise gate in the review but they didn't to show you EXACTLY what you'll be buying out of respect for the customer.
We do try to keep the signal chain as uncluttered as possible.
N Stuff Music respect for the customer ?

Norrie Christie It was a bad patch cable at the time. It has been replaced..

+Baphomet Rael Bro, what about this for gigs? has the balls?
+Allan Ardon This thing definitely has the nuts to push at a full gig, I own one.
you can with the reverb if you have it off on one channel and on on the other
Footswitch for these amps can only switch channels and switch graphic EQ on or off. No switch for reverb. And no way to switch between 3 variations in each channel
Nice review!! Thanks! Great tones!!! I guess you could try more the gain variations on each channel, specially the clean/crunch. Would be nice to know how far it can get...
:)
I am pretty sure that you can't switch on/off the reverb from the stock footswitch as you mention in the video ?
You are correct. Our bad! The footswitch that comes with this amp is a 2 button switch that switches channels and switches the EQ on and off..
Thanks. Does the footswitch has any indicating lights on it ?
Kind Regards
Milen Vichev It does have an indicator light for each switch...
What kind of pickups are in the Les Paul? Thanks.
Is the MID from dirty channel also a MidBoost?
Del Rei The Mid on the Dirty Channel does not act as a MidBoost. That feature is only on Channel 1..
N Stuff Music Thank you! Just got mine some months ago!!! :)
Nice demo.....Boogie has come a long way. I remember sterile cleans and fizzy overdrive, however this amp has some great tones in it!
Bob Boitt Thank you for checking out our channel!
Great demo. I think you made a mistake with the back panel. You said for the speaker cabs “4 ohms a piece,” making a 2 ohm load. I think it’s 2 8 ohm cabs making it a 4 ohm load. Please verify. Thanks in advance.
What speaker is in that cabinet?
I'm a blues player mainly. Can the gain channel be cleaned up much, eg with the volume knob??
Man, what can i say? Outstanding review of a magnificent amp.
What speaker os in that 1x12 cab?
Is the mesa 5-25watt loud enough to play 1 by 1 with classic drums ?
15 minutes talking + 4:13 minutes playing so we could listen to the amp. Thanks!
Mesa making any combo with this?
Saqib Saqib Currently, they are not making a combo out of this head.
+Saqib Saqib They have made a combo now
Thanks for video
it's a great amp. You cant really get that kick to the gut from EL84's though. This is very Vox'ish

Have you tried it ???
@@robertmailloux3720 ya i had one i sold it. it couldnt give me a good chest feel on the bass
Think this is prob the best bet for a versatile studio amp?
cant really beat mesa...
what cab was used in this video?
The cabinet is Mesa's 1x12 WideBody Closed Back Cabinet.
Hi guys! What mic are you using in this demo?? sounds killer
+Eduardo Iensen Thank you for the props. The mic I use on all the videos is an Audio-Technica AT4081 Ribbon Mic..
mmmm what about the blue pedal over the head??
+Allan Ardon That's the Keeley Magnetic Tape Echo Pedal..
should prob just run the guitar straight to the amp when doing a demo for an amp....
We did that exactly. The Tape Echo is running through the effects loop...
I see what you did there =D
Can you tell me something about the guitars?
Thank you
2 guitars were used in this video, a 1958 Gibson Les Paul Plaintop VOS and a Suhr Classic Pro Model. Hope that helps.
N Stuff Music
Thank you!
He says the reverb is foot switchable.. not on this model
+Dylan Calkins Yep. a mere oversight on our part...
What microphone are you using?
I use an Audio-Technica AT4081 Ribbon Mic...
love the review! I've been stuck between getting this and the 35, is the solo feature on the 35s worth the extra money if I already have a boost and overdrive pedals? thanks
Yes because it's only 200 more and you can get more even volumes when changing channels.
awesome thanks
Good stuff. Are you playing through the Mesa Cab loaded with the Celestion C90 speakers?
+TheGriff7628 Yeppers!
What's the constant buzz?
Martin Allcock patch cable.
ROCK ON
Cab is a widebody open back.
I ordered one, hope to get it before Xmas. Mesa amps rule. Anyone wants to buy my Marshall's? 😂😂😂
Mark Lucas Jr?
+Allan Ardon False..
I heard this is not a good amp for home use, really for gigs only -true?
Nope. Sounds pretty good at low volumes. And you can get a pretty big sound on the 10w setting with very little master. It is a really loud amp though.
Nice demo of different tones besides just metal. I'm saving up for one of these!
Great little amp, increible how mesa can get so much into this lunchbox . I have this amp... No hiss!
should have used the strat on the clean tones, and the les paul on the lead tones, lol
It's a V. Not an inverted V. An inverted V would be upside down.
Paul Bauer he's talking about the EQ, and it was an upside down V when he first messes with it, but that hardly means this guy is new to playing, that was a dumb comment on his part.
sure is a lot of noise with that amp and thats with Humbuckers
does Mesa boogie have as n offering for poor musicians?
Seems like if they just cut down on all the amp channel modes and take out reverb they could come out with a few amps that are in the 800-$1000 price range new.
you dont need to be rich...any major guitar store has financing
Found a stor near me that sella the mini rec for $999 new. But only in store. Around $1200 if you buy from them online
Why is there so much hiss / buzz going on in this video ?
Amplifiers sometimes pick up noise like humming and buzzing. It's not necessarily something in the amp causing it.

Norrie Christie It was a bad patch cable that went south during the filming of this video..
9:39 uh, you don't know what the letter V looks like? It looks like the eq knobs you just set! NOT INVERTED! An inverted V would look like a pyramid!
Feel better?
60 cycle hum?....or florescent light running in the same line....NOT GOOD IF ITS THE AMP
Richard B It was a patch cable.

You could buy a decent secondhand car for the price of that amp.

you trade in kidneys ?

Play a Fender guitar! Nobody uses humbuckers!
Did you watch? Lol he used a strat halfway through
