NStuff is a great music store! I have only been there a few times but its much better than guitar center or similar. They carry a wide range of guitars from budget to vintage or custom shop. Honestly it became one of my favorite stores my first time there. If I lived closer I would go there more often.
B is original A is Reissue. In this vid on my speakers A sounds a tad more saturated and I have owned SEVERAL IIC+'s so if I am fooled I will buy the reissue for sure!
Maybe I don’t know (very possibly I don’t) but what if the difference in tubes between the ‘84 and present model compensates for some other change in the circuit?
Kyle AND Jim! Jim's demo of the Blackstar Club HT40 mkii convinced me to buy one. Now I think I NEED one of these! Yeah, I'm sure the wife is on board, lol...
They are so close so it’s splitting hairs on choosing. They both sound great. I will say that to my ears on the crunch clip at the end the A amp seemed to have noticeably more mid range that I dug. But I would be happy with either one.
This man thinks. JP 2C is just SUPERIOR and at the same price, and not some shameless cash grab not approved by Randall Smith, that's why he got fired.
Aaaaaand, after listening to this vid on my studio speakers, I’d now say that A is the OG lol. A is less shrill and the upper harmonics are more pleasing/complex. ….hahahah
3:534:23 regardless of which amp is which I like B more but it’s not level matched. B is louder (bigger midrange) which makes it very hard to compare. naturally I’ve chosen the louder of the two. gonna go find out now on the other video what was what! I’m guessing B is new amp. 🤷♂️
Hard to say, but if I had to guess I'd say that I think the A is the OG IIC+ and the B is the reissue IIC+. To me, A sounds a little tamer, B sounds like it has a bit more mid bark and aggression. Going on previous comparisons of these amps, that's the logical conclusion to come to. Of course you guys could've been aware of this when making the video and dialed them to make us try to think that, so I'm willing to accept a loss. It's not even that big of a difference. Either way, thanks for the video!
Amp A sounds like it has a much smoother treble range and it also has a but of midrange honk which I don't love. Amp B sounds a lot more "open" and pissed off, with a hairy top end that I love. I'm gonna guess that means "Amp B" is the older one, just because I assume the classic would sound better, but honestly both sound more than good enough!
I'm guessing B is the Re-Issue. I Prefer B for metal tones. Not sure if it was the EQ difference on Amp difference. B had a bit more clarity and Prescence in top end that I preferred for the Metal riffs.
When will we found out the results? When I heard his signature riff on b I felt it had to be the 2025 because the response felt more modern. There’s something special about the original that olas comparison made stand out. Even in petruccis video it is a joke because on headphones the difference between the real deal and his is night and day. Something about the original just has something that make the WHOLE eq band glorious and sing like a Stradivarius.
B is unmistaken its the OG and A is the reissue. Also not a critique per se but just to point out: the 750 eq slider on both shouldve been closer IMO because its also a giveaway in the test, the OG 750 slider is way higher thus giving it more mids while on the reissue it is more scooped. But great comparo nonetheless 💪💪
A old B new. I prefer the old school scooped sound of A. B seems a bit too mid forward to my liking. Also That second guy playing cleans seems to enjoy A more than B, so it must be the original lol
Wow, AMP A is way more "Hi-Fi", with significantly more high-end and better definition overall. The difference was more striking than I would have anticipated. I would certainly prefer AMP A, although not sure which is (1984 or 2024). I owned an original II C+ back in the day, but wouldn't have a good reference in my memory of precisely how it sounded.
Amp A is more scooped with more gain I think. Amp B has more volume and more mids, has more dimension (3D). I prefer Amp B, which I believe is the new one.
Sound exactly the same as dialed in. But does one sound better than the other settings? At least you made it sound better than Gibson did in their videos. The thing I dont get is why would someone buy this over the JP2C that can do much more for another $100? If I was in market for an amp I would get the JP2C over this. I think this re-issue was a waste of time by Mesa/Gibson.
A is the Reissue B is the original You can tell so easily on the high gain tone. Reissue sounds dull and lifeless. Original sounds raw and big and sizzles.
Set em up with the same exact settings. Jacking the mid fader up on the OG shows it has a heavier range of tone. Do the same V curve. I know u said different ranges but that's what you want to show. Based on your 1 same riff I'd say the OG is B but you have the mids up on the OG so its not a direct comparison. Ola did the same shit. His In the room OG mkiic+ vid smoked the weak comparison video he did. Seems you guys are hiding the inaccuracy of this amp. Just saying. Not hating. You cut the balls off the OG and sank the mids on the new amp. This makes me not want one. I was just gettin ready to say Yolo n pull the trigger but if it's not as good as my OG I'm not gonna be happy. $3600.00 isn't chump change. My MarkV35 sounds heavier than this demo. You guys are coming off more like paid actors now than guitarists. You even changed the tubes but won't match eq then try to call people out . You both seem like shills honestly. Not setting them up with the exact same V curve is Sus a f. It's like saying look guys..a Honda Civic matches a Porsche while keeping the Porsche at 55mph??? Be Real....everybody knows the classic V Curve and My mkiic+ is the heaviest, chugging amp I've ever played. You just learned how to dial.in a boogie last year's. I'm 52 and been playing boogies since I was 15 with a MkIIC+. Ola's In the room OG video is the sound.
Yeah and it only took thousands in microphones to get it. Also you can't dial them in exactly the same and expect them to sound the same. You should be able to get them to sound like 99% identical in room or recorded but the gain range is probably finer on the new one when it comes to the Graphic eq. You can't just " hot dog hands " one or the other. The slots milled in the faceplate of the new one appear shorter, so there is a learning curve , which is obviously demonstrated by all the demanding people. You can take any version of this preamp section , and powerclass and that size transformer and it's going to be satisfactory for most professional studio engineers. It's the learning curve you have to overcome, everything else to consider is consistency in mains voltage, durability / consistency of components, speaker/cabinet, overall knowledge of the amp. It's amazing how close people are getting it now to the older ones considering how old the majority of the components are in the eighties models. None of you are gonna be satisfied anyways until we know whether the amp is as durable and the tubes production is as reliable.
Sorry, but this take is flat out incorrect. The EQ sliders have different ranges on the new ones, so dialing them in by sight is the exact wrong way to do it. In fact, dialing any amp in by sight toi try and match another amp is a bad call. As someone who has built your own amps, you should be well aware of this.
Hey Everyone! Thanks for participating in the blind shootout! Here is the link to the reveal video!
th-cam.com/video/umrf_esV2FY/w-d-xo.html
Cool to see Kyle having more visibility on TH-cam!
He does wear glasses so I'd have to agree 😂
Appreciate ya my dude!
B sounds better for my ear. Nice work Kyle 🤘
A new, B old. Both are great and I’d be happy with either.
A - Old IIC, B - Reissue.
Great collab to start the new year
Thank you for checking it out!
Indeed.
NStuff is a great music store! I have only been there a few times but its much better than guitar center or similar. They carry a wide range of guitars from budget to vintage or custom shop. I'd never been there before this video and I was blown away by how awesome their store was! Defnitely worth a visit.....or 3
B is original A is Reissue. In this vid on my speakers A sounds a tad more saturated and I have owned SEVERAL IIC+'s so if I am fooled I will buy the reissue for sure!
Don't know, don't care. They both sound great!
Seriously! So good. I dont need one, but damn do I want one!
That's the spirit!
This is awesome thank you gratefully !
Maybe I don’t know (very possibly I don’t) but what if the difference in tubes between the ‘84 and present model compensates for some other change in the circuit?
A is the reissue 🤘🏼
Kyle AND Jim! Jim's demo of the Blackstar Club HT40 mkii convinced me to buy one. Now I think I NEED one of these! Yeah, I'm sure the wife is on board, lol...
Jim made me feel like a monkey holding a guitar for the first time. Awesome player!
Ur too humble guy! It's a good 1-2 punch!
Sounds great, just as good as the setting on my Mark V..
One of them seem to have more brightness in the crunch sound. I like that better. But still hard to tell
A 1984, B 2024. Would be happy with any of them.
B: 1984
A: Reissue
Long live Kyle! If NStuffMusic is smart, they will hire Kyle to be their social media personality and demo artist
They are so close so it’s splitting hairs on choosing. They both sound great.
I will say that to my ears on the crunch clip at the end the A amp seemed to have noticeably more mid range that I dug. But I would be happy with either one.
Don't know which was which. But I do know that amp B was darker and not as crunchy.
A for original and B for the reissue 👍
B sound thicker warmer... its probably gonna be the original 2C+ ?
Why buy the IIC+ when you could get the JP2C(MKII Super C+) with better features?
This man thinks.
JP 2C is just SUPERIOR and at the same price, and not some shameless cash grab not approved by Randall Smith, that's why he got fired.
B is 1000% the OG. Upper harmonics.
Aaaaaand, after listening to this vid on my studio speakers, I’d now say that A is the OG lol. A is less shrill and the upper harmonics are more pleasing/complex. ….hahahah
A=old B=new - we shall see 🤘
Dont know which is which, but I like the sound of B the best.
I think that one of them was the reissue, and the other one was the original. ie. one of them was A, and the other one was B
… and they both sound great ☝️🤓
Astute!
A is Reissue, B is OG.
A = Reissue, B = OG
B is the reissue. More gain and clarity. Not a bad thing. Just it's new versus 40 years old.
3:53 4:23 regardless of which amp is which I like B more but it’s not level matched. B is louder (bigger midrange) which makes it very hard to compare. naturally I’ve chosen the louder of the two. gonna go find out now on the other video what was what! I’m guessing B is new amp. 🤷♂️
N Stuff is my go to store. I think B was first on all 3
never owned one but always wanted one, new or old B is the one i like the most! i actually think A is the original 1984 though...
A sounded like it's mic input was clipping on everything to me, so it was hard for me to tell. I'm leaning towards the reissue being B, though.
My guess is that B is the new one.
Either way, thanks for the video!
You forgot the "crunch berries" sticker
I'm going with A for original and B for reissue.
A is new, B is old.
Amp A sounds like it has a much smoother treble range and it also has a but of midrange honk which I don't love. Amp B sounds a lot more "open" and pissed off, with a hairy top end that I love. I'm guessing B is the Re-Issue. I Prefer B for metal tones. Not sure if it was the EQ difference on Amp difference. B had a bit more clarity and Prescence in top end that I preferred for the Metal riffs.
prefer the B amp :)
Both sound good and totally dial able.
I think B had a little more sizzle so I'm going to say A is the older one, B is the newer.
Which ones the Mesa boogie marky Mark Wahlberg?
I prefer B. It sounded like it had more low end heft.
Where are all the " buhhh component drift " people lol. I told em it has a different incremental range on the sliders.
B is better hi gain and clean.A was better in crunch.B sounded muffled there, but has a modern sterile tone other wise.
B has a lot more low end... i suspect that is the older
A is Reissue B is the old one
B sounds more like the OG but they are pretty darn close!
A is the OG B is the RI
A RI.. B OG
I like B better. Having not heard either it's a total coin flip as to which is which but let's say B - Reissue. Just sounds more modern to me.
I liked B better. Never played a real IIC+, so no idea which is which. They both sound good, but B has the chonkkkkkk.
To me B is the newer one because all the demos I've seen are way more strong in the mids than the original. But I can be wrong.
No idea but I think I like B a bit more.
A=Old. B=reissue
Let’s roll! I’m nearly deaf so I have a hard time distinguishing between most amps. I just know what sounds good to me.
When will we found out the results? When I heard his signature riff on b I felt it had to be the 2025 because the response felt more modern. I hope there is no trickery here. And he’s playing on the same amp or something.
Kyle B is the new mark
Clean A is new mark
Crunch B is new mark
A old B new. I prefer the old school scooped sound of A. B seems a bit too mid forward to my liking. Also That second guy playing cleans seems to enjoy A more than B, so it must be the original lol
A sounds tighter, B sounds more compressed. I prefer A and don't care which one is the original. However, if A was $10k and B was $3k, I would take B.
A without the reissue. B the OG.
B is the OG
Wow, AMP A is way more "Hi-Fi", with significantly more high-end and better definition overall. The difference was more striking than I would have anticipated. Amp B is 2024 reissue! Maybe.
Thanks all 🎶
A: new

I prefer A.
A reissue B original
A is the old and B is the new.
A = original
B = reissue

a new B old
A sounds more Hard Rock B sounds more Metal.
Kyle playing. Amp A is new and Amp B is old. Clean and crunch are not amp A is new and Amp B is old
A:old B:new
Amp A: New
Amp B: Old
Maybe B for reissue 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️
A old, B new
B old, A new
A new, B Old
B is reissue
B- new A- old
B sounded better to me
A is the Reissue
B is the original
You can tell so easily on the high gain tone.
Reissue sounds dull and lifeless.
Original sounds raw and big and sizzles.
I'd say so too.
A:New B:Old
A is the original.
A: Old
B: Ri
A=old
Both amps are really “noisy” but amp A is noisier. A better not be the new one haha
A sounds way better
A old
B new
I prefer B
