To everyone who says it's not a sport: 1) Why do synchronized swimmers on average train more than people in any other sport? 2) Why do I have visibly toned abs, quads and deltoids, despite being female? 3) Can you swim several lengths of an olympic sized pool without breathing? 4) Touching the bottom/walls in this sport is not permissible. So let's see you go tread water while throwing another person. 5) If it isn't vigorous, why aren't YOU an olympian? 6) Try it.
I swam synchronized swimming for 7 years, and in my final year, swimming at a level nowhere near what these girls do, I was training 30 hours a week, I was in the water 4 days a week, and I was in high school so there were periods where I never got a chance to sleep in. We'd spend about an hour on land doing flexibility and core strength, then be in the pool for 2 more hours, either practicing the routine, or training our lung capacity with unders (swimming from one end of the pool to the other (at my level max 1 breath)) in a 25 metre pool, and various other laps of butterfly, back crawl, breast stroke, front crawl, and so many more. It was honestly the toughest workout I've ever done. I always show some of the best routines I've ever seen on youtube to non-believers, and when they see the kind of tricks people can pull off in the water, they become believers. It's one thing to do laps back and forth of front crawl, but try what they're doing. I miss swimming it every day.
I feel you. I do synchronized swimming 11 hours a week and its only my second year! most people even say I might go into the olympics but I don't know.
People say thay swimming is the hardest sport and I'm a swimmer. But synchronized swimming seems harder than swimming. Combination of swimming, apne and just kicking just seems.... exhausting. I don't know how you do it but it looks hard for a typical swimmer.
My team did a lot of what we called “over unders” which were a regular freestyle lap followed by another, except no breathing except for the one before you kick off. Strong lungs let you do longer combinations of upside down kicking.
I'm 11 and I'm in synchro i've been in it seens i was only 6 years old... A lot of people say it isnt a sport but they have no clue how much work and time you have to put in to it! I love synchro it's my life
Now I need to find more under water footage.... this is seriously cool... respect to those who do this, it's something I always wanted to try, well least work out with in the water.... I know this is a sport, I swim, what they do is nothing compared to that....I think it's a lot harder.... again I swim, I look like I'm drowning if I tried....
I really appreciate you saying that!!😀 I do synchronized swimming and everyone is all like... It's easy. So it is nice to hear from people like you saying it's not and that they want to they it😀 Thank you!!!😃😃
im 11 and i want to try this so bad...i found this place very near where i live that does it for kids but my parents won't let me. my dad says its not a sport and my mom doesn't want to have to drive me to another thing twice a week. wish i could just try it. good luck to these girls. give them lots of respect. :,(
I'm a synchro swimmer that's going to retire soon, even though I'm only 15. I would love to continue but I can't stand my coach's attitude anymore. Yes, she is a good coach in the sense that she knows how to teach the techniques properly, but she treats her students like trash and I'm sick of it. It's humiliating and demoralising when your coach yells loud enough that everyone else nearby knows that she's calling you an idiot for making a mistake. Yes I understand I messed up, but I'm not perfect, I can't even say I'm good at it. I've been in this sport competitively for almost 7 years now, and I'm going to say goodbye to it soon.
i know im quite late, but please, don´t give up this beautiful sport. I also have the same struggle with my coach, it hurts, but i do my best to keep going. Even though im clearly not the best of my team i always give it all. The love I have for this sport beats my coaches painful words. Just please, dont let her bring you down. I know you are capable.
not trying to fight and I am a synchronized swimmer myself but just because you hold your breath and go upside down it doesn't mean that it's a sport what makes it a sport is that you are doing physical activity and competing and then some other stuff lol but that's why it's a sport
Not my cup of tea but these girls train very hard and it takes a lot of strength to work against the resistance of water. That's like dancing with dumbbells or more accurately like dancing in a suit of lead. Kudos !
This sport has been mesmerizing since the first time I saw it. Still can't get over how coordinated these ladies are. Their arms must look like Popeye the Sailor man's. arms
Same for mwah! I'm 11 too and I've been in syncro since i was 4! I love it it is my life! People think its so hard so not alot of people are on my team. But I love my team to bits and peices! What team like rec1 rec2 novice 11&12?
Very similar to Synchronized Skating, trading the pool for ice. Unfortunately, the IOC has yet to add it as an official sport...and it sorely deserves to be.
All I have to say is OMG did not know that they were at the IU Natatorium in Indianapolis, or I would have gone up there to watch them. When I was younger I was a swimmer for Indy Synchro and that is ware we would practice.
yeah, usually when they do that, its because they're only going through the routine, and not doing it full out. or maybe in her case she was injured and coudnt full out swim like the other girls.
*gasp* Dont say that just because you dont like it. Some people are really dedicated to this sport (ME) And it hurts their feelings that we work 86 hours a week in the pool training and people dont like it. Think before you speak. Or in this case, Think before you type.
Someone was talking about how a girl wasn't doing the routine she was just drilling it That girl is probably the alternate they have to know all of the parts of the routine perfectly in case anyone does get injured and can't swim. Being alternate is not that fun.
One big question- If this is considered a sport in Olympic then how come a synchronize dance on land would not be considered one of the sport categories in Olympic???
Maybe the equivalent of this would be team rhythmic gymnastics?? But then everything in Olympics is decided by votes, even squash doesn't make it into the Olympics
.. really? Then what sport is a good way to contribute time to the society? because I don't see the difference between what you call 'fucking around in a pool to stroke your ego' and running and kicking a ball. Both are sports. Both don't really help the society or something.
art competitions require lots of skill, training, and dedication and sacrifice too. but those aren't sports either, just like synchronized swimming and cheerleading aren't sports.

People will say anything feminine isn't a sport. They're just haters

and those nose clips! they always get lost! lol
+Abby 837 I stopped swimming in 2007, and I still own a bunch. I actually can't go swimming without them lol
i feel that these swimmers are doing it wrong
and from experience. with all these trainings. a lot of these moves would become reflexes that you can do without too much thinking
I am a synchronized swimmer and I am so proud of it!!!!
Me too i hope I Will be on olympics and TV
Me2!!🤗🤗
I was am age group swimmer and am working on getting into shape after cancer and brain surgery, to join my local masters team.
ig please

Shadow Tavin Don't forge Figure Skating ⛸
Thank u

this is definitely a sport, i love doing it !
I am amazed at this sport! It’s phenomenal. I have the upmost respect for anyone that does this
See, I'm a gymnast but I uhh, can't swim, it's crazy how much skill and energy you need for this.
sean gregory was an awesome sport as far as giving synchro a go...it was great to have him at our practice!
I'm 11 and I'm in synchro i've been in it seens i was only 6 years old... A lot of people say it isnt a sport but they have no clue how much work and time you have to put in to it! I love synchro it's my life

Recently they've started doing underwater cams at the Olympics so people can see them sculling
I really appreciate you saying that!!😀 I do synchronized swimming and everyone is all like... It's easy. So it is nice to hear from people like you saying it's not and that they want to they it😀 Thank you!!!😃😃
Emily Mammet respect to what you do.... :)
SammiANSELAmdahl as a former synchro swimmer, thank you :)
they are not synchronized swimmers! they are mermaids!! 😍😊😊
IantheXX013
I've been doing synchro for 7 years now, and i definitely think its a sport. This video shows the basic life of a synchronized swimmer.
What they do is so beautiful❤
I would say golf is not a sport because it takes no physical endurance. This is def a sport.
im 11 and i want to try this so bad...i found this place very near where i live that does it for kids but my parents won't let me. my dad says its not a sport and my mom doesn't want to have to drive me to another thing twice a week. wish i could just try it. good luck to these girls. give them lots of respect. :,(
I'm in synchro I love this and I think people should try it befor they say stuff like oh I could do that or that looks so easy.

People should really try it you are right
This sport has been mesmerizing since the first time I saw it. Still can't get over how coordinated these ladies are. Their arms must look like Popeye the Sailor man's. arms
Dont worry just Try, Try harder, and Keep Trying!
Same for mwah! I'm 11 too and I've been in syncro since i was 4! I love it it is my life! People think its so hard so not alot of people are on my team. But I love my team to bits and peices! What team like rec1 rec2 novice 11&12?

I would like to try this but I’m 24 and haven’t workout out in a few months but it’s would hurt to start
oh i hope shes ok if shes injured
My 5 year old daughter is swimming to the bottom of the 6 ft pool and is doing flips in deep water. I see this in her future
All I have to say is OMG did not know that they were at the IU Natatorium in Indianapolis, or I would have gone up there to watch them. When I was younger I was a swimmer for Indy Synchro and that is ware we would practice.

Your so right about that
Same as my story
Yup you got that right love!
Yeah I was thinking that too!
Just watch paris 2024, i know i saw mayuko fujuki somewhere, she coaches spanish team in paris 2024.
Im in jr high and train 42 hours a week.
Mary killman!
I just wish I knew how to tread water like that
*gasp* Dont say that just because you dont like it. Some people are really dedicated to this sport (ME) And it hurts their feelings that we work 86 hours a week in the pool training and people dont like it. Think before you speak. Or in this case, Think before you type.
ThePopcornlover132 so what you are saying you train over 12 hours a day? With school and sleep and all that? I don’t think so.
I'm on the buffalo swimkins what team are you from?
Well sprinting, fencing weight-lifting don't contribute to society either do they? At least synchronized swimming is ENTERTAINING for people to watch!
Someone was talking about how a girl wasn't doing the routine she was just drilling it
That girl is probably the alternate they have to know all of the parts of the routine perfectly in case anyone does get injured and can't swim. Being alternate is not that fun.
How does one get started with synchronized swimming?
find a club in your town, but I dont think its usually open for new adults.
Maybe you should watch the video and try it before you decide. Not all sports have to be like football.
No it is not I was an alternite for my trio D: But alternates are VERY important!
the girl in the front when they were swimming never moved her arms
Woooowwww
I'm a synchronized swimmer
One big question- If this is considered a sport in Olympic then how come a synchronize dance on land would not be considered one of the sport categories in Olympic???
Maybe the equivalent of this would be team rhythmic gymnastics?? But then everything in Olympics is decided by votes, even squash doesn't make it into the Olympics
Ballroom dancing is being considered as an Olympic sport while the Olympic games currently has Rhythmic gymnastics.
because this stuff is harder
the "synchronized" is just a part of it, they have move. dance, and do gymnastic moves all while staying in sync and under water!
How did I get here
San Dieguito Synchro
its not easy as what you see. and i know that
HAHA
Расслабились им надо тренера покровскую тогда они бы сразу карьерру закончили
.. really? Then what sport is a good way to contribute time to the society? because I don't see the difference between what you call 'fucking around in a pool to stroke your ego' and running and kicking a ball. Both are sports. Both don't really help the society or something.
Awwzies! I toatally wish you could its amazayn ;D see what I did there?
Filming is too primitive, needs to evolve like in earth films
how about no sports, like you know things that help
Maybe it's time to invite a trainer from Russia?
no sport, is that hard to understand
I am beginning to suspect that Sean Gregory is actually gay.
art competitions require lots of skill, training, and dedication and sacrifice too. but those aren't sports either, just like synchronized swimming and cheerleading aren't sports.
Dont you just love it when people dont think Synchro is a sport, but willingly accepts things like golf as a sport...
