Ha, that’s not small... Imagine it in 1:144 scale! That’s what I did on the Type VIIC U-Boot. Drove me insane and killed my mojo for the build. But I will revisit that kit in 2022
Great work mate. I love the tea candle use for CA glue. That is a great trick for ease of use without hunting for caps each time. Getting ready for a 350th Revell Bismarck build, and these tips help a lot!
@@HarryHoudiniModels I feel for you . I have the beginning of it , sometimes on my left toe, the doctor gave me a list of things to avoid , I told him he forgot air. It seems everything affects it. He gave me 2 pages of what to avoid and 3 inches of what I can have. 😫
I’ve had Gout for over a decade... all you do is avoid food that is acidic, and try to eat alkaline. When you are not in a danger zone, ie blood sugar levels not too high and your uric acid is down, you can eat a little of anything. I can now feel when my acid levels are high and watch what I eat. Try getting some unsweetened Cherry Juice. I start each day with a glass. Cherries have a natural enzyme which removes the uric acid. Believe me. It’s a fast relief, with magnesium and low fat cheese. Removes the acid before you get an attack, or can reduce the symptoms of an attack. If you want my “good - neutral - bad” list I would be happy to send to you.
Harry do you ever solder when working with PE if so what factors determine when you will or won't solder the parts? I have this kit also and got about 80% completed before I lost the MOJO as my copy has very soft molded details and the plastic is typical Revell plastic being too soft for my preference. Its really a shame the kit is really good I think if they had used a harder plastic like what Monogram used the end result would be far superior. After watching your build I just might be pulling mine back out and finally finishing it after 5 yrs sitting on the shelf of doom. Looking forward to the next video cheers!
Honestly if the part is that big that it needs soldering, I make it out of plastic. Photo etch for me, is just for the small details, or accuracy corrections, where plastic can’t be moulded that fine.
Delicate work Harry but well worth it. When it is all finished can you give us the time involved just building this gun?. Then I can add at least a month to that to get mine finished :). Cheers from the U.K.
It’s the Griffon upgrade set. I did show it in the previous video but forget to show that again in this one. Now it’s listed in the Title and Description.
No. The wax slows the CA glue from drying, giving me more time to use it on the photo etch. I keep a drop of CA on the wax candle. Lasts for up to an hour.
A most instructional, entertaining yet relaxing start to my day while having breakfast in bed. So many useful tips. Its also Blu Tack in the UK.
Thanks Neil... you must have nudie posters as well?
@@HarryHoudiniModels just Gulf War nose art - strictly for reference of course!
Of course LOL
Nice work on the PE and thanks for the CA and candle tip !! Looking forward to the next video 👍🇦🇺
Glad you enjoyed it
Man , that small PE would drive me crazy . I'm intimidated by the PE in my two aerosani group build kits . More power to ya, Harry !

Good to know some of my waffle was helpful.
Great detail on the guns my friend
Thanks Juan
so fiddly looking , you made those brackets look easy . Well worth the fiddle , the guns look great after the upgrades .
Thanks Orson... it just takes time and patience
A genius with photo etch kudos!
Good on you George
Great update Harry ! hope you are feeling better . Have a great week, Tony
I am starting to feel a lot better thanks Tony
@@HarryHoudiniModels Great ! Doctor recommends two shots of whiskey every hour. After a couple hours you won't be feeling no pain ! 🤗
haha well not until my gout attack!

Great video
Fiddly stuff but look so nice when completed.
Stunning work as always mate, can't beat photo etch and brass to give that wow factor to a build👍😉😊stay safe pal👍
Thanks Dave 👍
The candle tip is ace, thanks!
Happy to share.. it helped me when doing photo etch and glueing CA.
@@HarryHoudiniModels Coming in handy with my HMS Bounty build. Which is full of tips picked up from your videos anyway.
Good to hear... I hope you enjoy your Bounty build as much as I did.
@@HarryHoudiniModels It's been a lot of work, but fun. I'm in the finishing stages now, two sails left, then the rest of the rigging and she's done.
Take your time... it’s a big job to rig that small model. Enjoy every moment while you can.
Those hinges looked like a complete nightmare!
They look harder than they are... towards the end I could knock one out in under 5 mins.. couldn’t see what I was doing, had to work by feel alone.
wow...just wow.......
Thanks... new videos out on the PE upgrade for the armoured bridge and painting the boat
A griffon set for \35 Dragon 2cm flak was insanely hard, how you manage to keep it neat in \72 and \144 is a feat beyond mere mortals like me.
I had help from Bask the Cat.
This had to take a decent amount of patience, great result, love the work!
Thanks Marko... it took 2 weeks for me to slowly get all the flak guns upgraded.

Love your channel. Could you please tell me which of the xuron cutters you are using in this video
The blue PE cutters I use are Xuron 9180ET High Precision Scissors. Had them for 8 years and they always stay sharp and accurate

Well I am still working very slowly with my neck issues... so only 2-3 hours a day, when I can.
Looks great! Too much work for me though!! 😁
It does slow the build down. But I like the detailed result.
Great tips Harry, I seen another builder use the candle. Do you clean the ever candle? The finished part looks so good.
If the candle base gets too full up with drops of CA I light it, preferably outside, and whoosh the CA burns up.
Very nice work. Is the PE set from Eduard ? All the best from Norway

Confused do you use the wax to attach?
No. The wax slows the CA glue from drying, giving me more time to use it on the photo etch. I keep a drop of CA on the wax candle. Lasts for up to an hour.
