    Thanks for the heads up Harry. Very useful as I have both the Airfix and Revell boats to do.The reference book for painting is very useful too. Much appreciated. 👍

    Fantastic comparison video Harry, really interesting to see the difference in these kits from different era's. I've never built a ship or boat before but seeing your vids has definitely given me the bug! Like you I love Airfix so I'd love the e boat and I've also seen the Flower class kit but they are ridiculous money, even the revell reboxes are like 200+quid on flea bay! Anyhoo, great video mate, will be watching the build vids next.
    Cheers Bobby 👊

    I already built the Revell kit and with additional PE accessories it makes a very nice model in my opinion. It is also reasonably priced. I would love to build the other two versions as well but the Airfix is hard to get where I live. Airfix made a very nice kit when taking its age into consideration. The Fore kit is rather pricy but you do not have to buy additional accessories and I will definitely have a go at it. All the best from Norway.

    Thank you. Been looking forward to this. Airfix has made a 1/72 MTB years ago I so want to do both the S boat and the MTB in 1/72 some day. It will go great with the Revel PT 109 I did last year.

    Built the Airfix kit about50 years ago. Doing it again, taking my time and adding details. I love the early boats. I have the Revell S-100, one of these days. One thing about the Airfix, I found a lot of sink marks on the deck which were annoying to fix, and the hull deck joint needed a fair amount of filling and sanding. The deck fits differently as you go down the length.

    • @HarryHoudiniModels
      @HarryHoudiniModels  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You might have a later release than my original white box Airfix kit, so the moulding or plastic may not be the same. I did not notice any sink marks on my deck and the dry fit, although a little fiddly, clicked together nicely. I have a full video review on the Airfix E-Boat as well.

    Thanks for part 2 of a great comparison , Harry. Having immersed myself in (and thoroughly enjoyed, several times over !! 👌) your build series on the Revell S-100 kit, you’ve already ‘cost’ me snagging one ( with the 3.7cm rear gun, not the later (quad) Flak Vierling version, plus the Eduard PE set !! (about 5 shekels for the kit)
    You’ve mentioned 3D-printed side railing stantions a couple of times now. Are these commercially available? (in the UK ?) I got the impression when you showed them during your S-100 build that it was just a favour for a mate. But in this comparison, you seemed to suggest that they might be more widely available ?
    Can you enlighten me, please?
    Superb job on the Revell kit by the way. Look forward to seeing how the Airfix build compares.
    Happy modelling, stay safe, and thanks for all that you bring us, Harry.
    Greetings from Old Mid Wales !!! as opposed to NSW !! 🤪🤪

      Thanks Mark. Craig now has a website for his 3-D printed parts, but the stanchions were so popular they sold out in a day. No doubt he will print more. www.mousemuffinsdesign.com/shop

    Built 3 of the Airfix E-boat in the 70's 80's, each one was different to sort out not a problem realy, one i gave away to next doors kid, one was deliberatly sunk in an old mine lodge (pond) hit by .177 Diana air rifle and the last went to sea made up with water tight marine glue with the propeller motor pod (from the QE-2 boatinglake effort from the 70's) attached underneath. happy days

    I have an odd question maybe, when I was young I was a model geek. All my models had interiors that you put together and painted, the whole nine yards. Now I am older and I would love to make models again, but I can not find models with buildable interiors. Do they still make them? Where can I find some, anyone know?

    • @HarryHoudiniModels

      A lot of us scratch build our interiors. I do know of a Revell U-Boat with an interior, but it’s an old kit

      Depends on what u are building. Takom, ryefield, gecko, afv club, miniart makes armor kits with interiors. Eduard profipack has nice aircraft 1/48 and 1/32. Miniart has some detailed aircraft as well.

    The word "boot" in German is pronounced "boat."

  • @olipellert8315
    @olipellert8315 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I have never heard an English native speaker pronounce the word "Schnellboot" so well. Have you ever learned the German language in your live? It is sometimes so terrible to watch documentations of WW2 and the narrator talks about German tanks, ships etc and the pronunciation is so bad.

    • @HarryHoudiniModels
      @HarryHoudiniModels  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      My Father was South African and also spoke German so picked some up, as well as chatting with German friends over the years, I might have absorbed the accent. When I played the German Doctor live on stage in “Murder on the Nile” I had people coming up to me after the show asking if I was German. LOL
